I needed a present for New Years day, and asked my wife to stop in the archery department here to get a bow string for a recurve bow. Since my wife did not understand what I needed, she called me from the store and I spoke to the sales associate personally to explain that I needed an old fashioned bow string for a 58", 26 lb bow recurve target bow. I explained it in great detail, just to make sure it was clear, and he said he understood. He sent her home with a fishing line for bow fishing. It was now too late to go anywhere to replace what I needed for this gift to my son. I called this Academy Sports and asked for the manager. A young girl said she was the manager on duty. I calmly and politely explained that "I was a bit p.oed at the store and I wanted to share the reason why with the manager". She went on to tell me that "she was not going to allow me to use "foul language" any more" Excuse me?? I wanted to ask if her Mommy or Daddy was available to talk to then. I went on to explain the whole incident, and the fact that their carelessness had placed me in a very bad spot. How could a person be working in the archery department and have nbo idea what a bow string is? From that point on she was "insultingly cheerful and bubbly" in every word she said, dismissively, and clearly ignoring me and not interested in dealing with her stores failing. So this place has two levels of employees that could not care less about serving the customers or making things right. If you need sporting goods, do what I did......go to Gander Mountain. At least they know what theyre talking about when you ask for something.

Calling around to all Academys near me to find a Dallas Cowboys goody/jacket for men so I could see if their in stock before I drive to these places considering GBE fact I live a hour away from these stores. I called the Academy in Katy and they were very helpful they transferred me to a person to help me find what I was looking for. Though they didnt have it I still appreciate the fact that they took time to help me over the phone. Cant say the same about this location. I called and alone with Donna and asked her about the jacket/hoody and she responded with she doesnt have anybody that can go look for me or give me any information. When she answered the phone bit you couldnt put me on hold to go look or check it out for a customer?? Yea okay. Not helpful at all and I will not be going to that location for anything.

Rude employees!!! Only buying from here because its the only place that had the gun my dad was looking for... Especially a guy named Derrick, tall white guy with glasses.. Weird guy and Very racist! Didnt much have a name tag. I asked him how long he had been working here, and aswered me in a disrespectful way.. Khan was mediocre....now Im already in a bad mood at this point and here comes the manager Roel.. Doing all the paperwork and its like it bothers him to do his job.. Groaning and doing weird sounds like in disgust.. Worst experience ever! hilcroft and westheimer location is much better

Employee was rushing to get everyone out the door by 10pm. We were still trying to check out, and apparently our item was a 2 piece set, so while I figured out the other part to it because they didnt even offer to get that for us, the guy rudely moves us. When I come back with the item, he starts screaming and giving us a huge attitude. I understand theyre trying to leave but customer service should still be a priority.

This place is phenomenal me and my wife went into get some work shoes for my landscaping job and we were about five minutes in before closing at the doors and nobody stopped us they went ahead and said welcome how can we help you I went in got my shoes i walked in and out in less than five minutes they were very helpful and this store is one of the best thank you .

Today I went with my son to buy a pair of shoes and I saw an offer and compare it with some online stores and I liked the offer when I grabbed the shoes and went to the cashier the employee followed me and he look me until i pay it was very uncomfortable I went to the store because I have the money to buy the shoes

Horrible service. Cashier couldnt make her word clear. The short fat Asian guy have the worst service ever. He is rude when he comes and I said thank you when he left, he prented he didnt hear anything . The worst academy service ever. This is the academy that I will never come again. No matter what happen

This is my go to spot for any and everything outdoors. I appreciate that the sales associates are knowledgeable about almost all the gear thats sold there. Sometimes a smile and a friendly hello make all the difference. I would recommend Academy to anyone looking for good selection and great prices.

Very helpful I came onae day to buy a bike and they sold it so I was a bit upset but I decided to ask a salesperson if they have the bike so they checked in the back for me and told me that its new and was not yet built but I can come back tomorrow and they will have it ready for me.

Great customer service . Alex (shoe department) took time and helped us with finding the shoe and make sure we were happy with the shoe and answered our concerns we had . Would definitely recommend him anyone who needs his help.

went to this location to get charcoal and starter fluid 2 days after i received the ad. they didnt have it and didnt try to match it with any of their products.very dissapointing experience .will not go to that store anymore.

Its just another Academy, usually a little messy, never actually dirty. Dont bother coming here for womens boots. Sneaker selection better than most places. Staff is nice, but doesnt go or of their way to be helpful.

Had good customer care from floor associate, but the register operator did not even offer a reward card or said thank you, thanks or bye. Store seems to be clean and organized

Great sales but very disorganized due to large crowds. Too many folks cause a mess faster than the associates can clean up due to constant customer assistance needed.
