Below is my original review. Mr. King the owner did contact me very quickly and fixed any issue I had. He only required me to come into the store to exchange or return. Scott sent word of apology. I left converted to a very happy customer. While there, Bobby talked me right into more of the Smart Wool socks. He was also apologetic and very knowledgeable about their products. I will be back to Quest Outdoors..... SOON. A much more personal experience then any of the larger chain outdoor stores Mr. King is a "Stand-up" business owner. Thanks. ///////// (1 star) My first experience and last with Quest Outdoors was at the St. Mathews location. I purchased after dealing with a great sales person a $150.00 pair of Treksta water proof hiking shoes. The shoe Failed to be water proof as promised. Upon returning to the store, Scott a "manager" chose to make me a very unhappy customer. He let me know that to complete the return the shoe needed to be in like new condition. Scott how could a hiking boot that failed to be waterproof while on my foot be in like new condition? To make matters worse he was aggressive and rude in delivering the news to me, a customer in his mind I would imagine is always wrong. I rate my experience a One because of Scott the only bad employee I came in contact with out of 4 and taking in consideration their evidently very flawed return policy. Would Bass Pro or Cabelas treat me like this? Never have!!

Today my girlfriend and I were accused of only window shopping to input order the shoes later online. A tall girl that was helping us was very helpful up until the point where she was dry and smart about us not buying shoes. All so funny when I had over $100.00 of merchandise Id be holding onto. Needless to say, I have spent plenty of money here in the last year. After hearing an employee talk to use that way, I decided to only buy two shirts and leave $100.00 jacket, which Im sure Ill buy somewhere else now. Im serious about my gear, its not cheap to buy good items, so if I walk into a store that sells such items I would really expect employees to not act that way. I know someone of you are thinking I probably should have confronted a manager, but those things get swept under the rug. In conclusion, Ive always been treated very well there, and everyone else today upheld those values except the tall blonde that decided to disrespect use. That is all :)

I stopped in at Quest this evening expecting to just look at hiking boots so i could compare to other stores I had looked at. However, Kim, the young lady that assisted me was so helpful that she was able to help me find the boots i was looking for. She exceeded my expectations in so many ways. I ended up purchasing a pair of Salomon boots. I had seen these boots online at Zappos for the same price, but the personal service i got at Quest was priceless! And check this out; When I checked out at the register they asked if I was on their client list. I told them to sign me up, and they gave me a 20% discount on my new boots!! How cool is that?! By the way the store is in the Shelbyville Rd Plaza, so ignore the review by Walter regarding the location. Bottom line; These guys are GREAT!!!

Visited the Shelbyville location today to purchase a gift. Walked into the store took several minutes to locate a salesperson. Was directed by this person where the merchandise was, found another salesperson to help me. Although, there were no other customers around he was not interested in helping and answering my questions. He showed me the labels and left me. On the way to pay I picked up several other small items to purchase. At the cash register the guy was preoccupied talking to another worker going as far as calling me "sir". Is this home town service from a local store? I go out of my way to support local stores, but I dont know if this customer service was worth keeping it local. There are many other choices...

I was frustrated when I moved to Louisville a few years back... only one outdoor outfitter store? But then I visited for the first time. Wow! Great selection in everything from rock climbing gear to personal watercraft to backpacks and gear to jackets and clothing. And now they have coffee too! Epic. The new location is so much bigger. The staff is always courteous and glad to help. The prices are competitive, about what youd pay online or at REI or another such place. And now they have a rewards program too. Overall a great place to shop and my first stop for anything outdoors!!!

Terrible customer service. Went to return some shoe glue that did not work. A staff member there had suggested it to me, but when I got on the trail the stuff failed within a mile. What made it worse, is the manager there insinuated that I didnt even get it from quest, which he chose to do in front of tons of other customers which was pretty embarrassing.

I wasnt sure what to expect taking my son who is in a wheelchair to a sporting goods store, but was pleasantly surprised by the enthusiasm and assistance at the store. After talking to the owner, I think his name is Ryan, we were quite at ease making selections of clothing that Chris loves. Thanks to the staff, you guys are awesome!

A locally owned business with friendly service. They offer mid to high end level outdoor gear. Everything Ive bought from there has always lasted, so the quality is worth the price. They have a great selection of active wear - for on & off the hiking trail.

Good selection of outdoor gear, even though a lot of the stuff is not very affordable for me. Still though, despite the prices, there were some items which I could afford and everything there is of good quality.

Quills has delicious coffee and Quests basecamp features it well. I enjoy everything about getting coffee here unfortunately my man Jeff is a little tardy when it comes to service however great nevertheless.

As of Fall 2011 this is an actual store location, and I shop here frequently. It is really a nice store and I recommend it to anyone who is shopping for outdoor gear, accessories and clothing.

Quest always has what I need in stock. The staff is what really makes this place great, though. Friendly and knowledgeable with real world outdoors experience. Theyve never steered me wrong!

I have had two poor experiences with the customer service at Quest. I will not be shopping there in the future. Several of my friends have had the same experience, unfortunately.

Smaller than REI but it was ok. I did not find what I was looking for. I personally would not make a trip to this place again if I was in town.

Awesome store with a huge selection of outdoors-y stuff! Also has a small cafe on the lower level. Found the staff to be very friendly.
