Have never shopped here before, and never will go back. ALL SALES ARE FINAL! And returns are NOT ALLOWED. I am going to Ryco in Lincoln for now on. Customer service at Lorraines is ok to poor (I was upstairs poking around, and heard one of the ladies behind the counter yelling at a customer to wait). At Ryco the girls are fabulous, friendly, and fun! :o) I work in customer service and have for many many years (I am manage 8-10 employees a day), and have never written a review, but today was not a good experience at Lorraines. I got charged $1.99 a yard that is $.85 a yard at Ryco. I went to return the item back to Lorraine and they lady refused to take it back, and said there are signs all over the store saying the sales are final. I apologized to her, and said I have never shopped here, and did not know the return policy. She said it was on the receipt (which it was, on the 2nd receipt and the no return policy was hidden by the staple). The one positive thing, is that the lady allowed me to even exchange it for something else for equal value. This is the only reason why I am giving a star. I ended up walking away $40.46 poorer and promised to never go back again.

Downstairs is better, upstairs is bargain--but heck, in the days of old, the yardage stores always had a bargain area. I found a gorgeous bronze 100% silk duppioni for a cocktail dress I had made for me. Exquisite finish. Im a longtime merchandising executive and traveled fabric mills worldwide. They do get a lot of their bolts from the New York fashion district. My opinion you wont find the specialty fabrics like they get in their 54-60" bolts at a chain fabric store. Going back this week to find a brocade or silk for another event dress. Prices are excellent for their luxury and upholstery fabrics. Selection on the first floor is very good.

It is a LONG ride from Wickford RI to be told (rudely), that I cannot use a bathroom. I am an almost seventy year old dignified woman with an aging bladder (like every other older woman in western civilzation), and to have my imminent needs dismissed by a few snotty clerks is unforgiveable. Much as I loathe JoAnne Fabrics, they have enough respect for their customers to provide bathrooms.Forget silly excuses about cesspools or ignorant customers that ruin it for the majority of your customer base and do right by your customers! Half of the sales clerks are unpardonably rude and the other half are just terrific.

As an apparel designer, I have to say that the selection of practical fabrics such as: French Terry, Ringspun Cotton, Cotton Fleece (pick any gm. weight youd like), Microsuede, Denim. You will not find these here. If youre trying to get your arts and crafts on; maybe make a pillow case for your daughter or a pair of flamboyant "one-sy" PJs for your son, they have got you covered. If you are trying to do anything for mainstream, marketable apparel design. This store is very very limited.

I have found upholstery fabric for 2 projects, a Victorian sofa and 2 Milo Baughman chairs. I had chosen fabric at the upholsterers shop, most of which runs $50-60+/yard. Luckily I was able to cancel, because I found comparable high-end fabric for each project for about $10/yard. This requires patience! For my chairs, I made 2 visits, but saved many hundreds of dollars. Also, trims ( huge asst.), notions, etc. are ridiculously inexpensive ! Worth the trip!!! Also, good service.

I was looking for a backdrop for my recording studio and my mother-in-law suggested this place. Left up to me I would have gone to Wal-Mart and bought a cheap Queen Sheet Set and used that (lol). Well when I walked in I was a little overwhelmed – there was too much to choose from, but again…I wasn’t fussy but yes a little picky. I’m good – backdrop is done and recordings have begun. I hope you enjoy your shopping experience.

They have an upstairs bargain area with tons of fabric. The women that work there are extremely friendly and helpful. One of the women has helped me with questions repeatedly, she has taken at least 10 minutes to explain things to me in detail, a new sewer, more than once. The no return policy is tough but its close to me, convenient, they have a bargain area and the staff has always been friendly.

Nice fabrics at good prices. Un-level floor trips me up and makes me dizzy. Notions selection is the basics. Stairs, stairs, stairs. Not too hard to reach from RIPTA. Did not ever see a bike rack. Parking lot is not huge. I havent tried parking the wheelchair lift van here nor shopping with anyone who uses a wheelchair. Not sure if Ive ever seen a wheelchair in here.

If youre here for a bargain and are not locked into a certain color or style you might be fine. I was looking for coordinating cotton fabric for a quilt and left disappointed. The majority of the fabric is for appearal or upholstery. The notions and cotton batting/pillow forms cost about the same as JoAnns.

Massive old-fashioned fabric store. No nonsense just fabric with massive selection and prices that seem to be from a previous century (ie cheap). The store has a charming atmosphere if a bit old and rickety. Staff members were all pleasant and helpful.
