This is the best garden center in Houston. Dont confuse it with the chain that has the circus tents and a similar name. This is the one on 45 north feeder road just before 1960. They have a huge selection of plants, shrubs, and trees. If you are looking for something you can bet they have it. Their prices are excellent as well. They have great sales starting in late August until they clear it out. I have landscaped my entire property with plants from this location. A word of advice is to use local hardy plants and shrubs that will survive that yearly frost we get. The service is excellent. Every time I have gone someone has loaded my cart and helped me load my vehicle. Shout out to Rodrigo who helped me get 10 bottle brush trees into the back of a sedan. This is much better then the big box stores or those other garden centers in Houston.

Primo is the man. He is a walking encyclopedia and will not steer you wrong. I made the mistake of buying plants from one of the more prestigious places last year and ended up with nothing but dead plants and a fight with insects that I am still fighting to win. I have never had a problem with anything I have purchased from Houston Plants and Garden, and have shopped there for at least 15 years. Primo is honest and will tell you which plants do well in Houston and which ones do not.

The plants were very healthy but shrubs and trees were chock full of weeds. We signed up for a $25 coupon but it went to spam, even though the initial response came through to our regular email folder. The cashier was unable to honor the coupon; she suggested it might be in spam, as it was. The coupon has to be printed out which we could not do at that point. We drove an hour to visit this garden center so we were more than a little disappointed that we could not use our coupon.

The only place to go for your landscaping needs!!! Pedro helped us pick out two trees that added the perfect touch to our house for great curb appeal. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. I even had an issue with poor irrigation and the owners personally came to my home and saved my tree. I will definitely bring all my business here in the future and will recommend Houston Plants and Garden World to everyone.

They have a very good selection. The plants are bigger than you find at the chain stores. They also have grouping of plants with tagging for attracting butterflies. Very wide variety of speciality fertilizer. Many fertilizers or pesticides that cant be found in box stores they carry. Nice outdoor decorating items also including large fountains are carried by the store. I will be back for more plants.

I visited the North Freeway location today and I love this place. They have a huge selection of plants. My favorite part about this visit is how none of the employees bothered me while I walked around and looked at everything. If you need help, there are plenty of people to ask, but I enjoyed not being followed around like some of the other plant places do.

The critical variable is that this nursery offers a much greater variety of plants than any other local or regional retail nursery that I have visited. It is a bit of a drive versus the closest nursery (10 miles versus 2 miles), but I know that I have a much greater chance of finding what I want (Gulf Muhly grass in the latest case).

My wife and I love this garden center on 45!!! The staff is knowledgeable and they dont act like you are bothering them when asking questions. The selection is great and everything I have purchased and planted has grown beautifully so far. I am also a fan of the coupons that they have when you joined the garden club!!

NO DWARF FRUIT TREES! Otherwise, Id have given them a 5-star rating. Im forced to drive over 25 miles to buy a DWARF Lemon (not Meyer) tree, and Im hoping HPGW will stock DWARF Lemon (not all Meyer Lemon), DWARF grapefruit, DWARF Mandarin orange trees next year.

What happened? New owners and the place cut inventories way too low at peak planting time. I couldnt find half of what I was looking for and knowledgeable staff is now non-existent. Used to be my one stop shop for gardening - now will not be returning!

The plant quality here is incredible. All the plants are grown on site so they are not subject to shock on being plants like plants shipped hundreds or thousands of miles. The sales team is very helpful in selecting the right plant.
