Evrysince I went to purchase my gun I had a bad experience, stared with the customer service at the gun department all the employees did not acknowledge me at all until my son Witch he is a Veteran call one of the employees and said that he had to go to the back and he will be with us well that never happen it took almost one hour until one employee witch also happen to be a Veteran help me out he was so much help to us on getting the best gun for me at the end I had a problem with the application for credit bad phone service with the credit card company. Then I paid for the gun with one of my credit cards then I had to do the background check then I was accuse of trying to buy a gun for someone else. I explain my self so many times that the gun was for me. Then the manager that was there couldnt override and approve the application and she couldnt give me my money back I left the store so mad and was told to return the next day so the store manager can get me my refund. I was talking to a coworker and explain my experience with the store he advice me to call the store and talk to the store manager first before I went so I did and he asked me to come in and redo the background check again and again I was at a dead end he ask me again that if this gun was for me on someone else I toll him that it was for me. Then he did something and I was able to get my gun and I make sure that the Oldman that help me the day before got the sales commition. Then last week I took my gun for cleaning and I was told that the tech was not in but it will be ready the next day. I call the next day to see if my gun was ready and it took me 30 minutes on hold to tell me NO that they dont clean guns on Saturday so I got mad and went to the store to pick up my gun it was a good thing that the guy that took my gun the day before was there and I got to talk to him he apologized and he went to get my gun I was about to take it and he asked me if I had some time he would get it done so I waited for my gun and Im on the market to purchase an other gun but no one approach me again to help me out so Im taking my business some were else. Anyway they dont have any accessories for my vp9 what a store what an experienced

Ive been reading all the negative reviews about this store & wanted to give an assessment about my experience. I recently just went and sold a 12 Gauge Remington 870 Express to them because I was looking to buy a new semi-auto shotgun. Yes, Gander Mountains gun prices are a bit on the higher side. However, they have the best selection on hundreds of different guns on stock and in store while no Academy or other local smaller business gun shop will even come close compared to what they carry. They had about 3-4 guys working behind the counter & they are always busy with customers so do yourself a favor and take a number. I went in knowing that of course I was going to get less for my gun as opposed to selling it myself. The guy even told me before he appraised it that corporate will only give up to 60% of the guns bluebook value considering overall condition of the gun. After all, they are a business & need to turn a profit. I already knew that and would rather get rid of it quickly then try to sell it on my own time & deal with shipping to an FFL dealer & all of that. I feel like I got a very fair price & the guy helping me was extremely nice and very helpful. Also this store is always very well kept and clean. If you are a hunter than this is the store you should shop at. They have tons of selection on apparel & hunting supplies compared to say Academy or Bass Pro. In the end I walked out pretty satisfied with what I was paid for my gun & the attentive customer service I received. If youve never been there before you owe it to yourself to go check them out at least once. Dont read into all the negative reviews as it seems to me these people obviously have no clue that this is a business & they are in business to turn a profit. Plain and simple. Awesome store!

I dont usually write reviews and I dont like to bad mouth companies. That being said; Never buy ammunition at Gander Mountain, its consistently 20-30% more expensive than Academy, which is right across 290. This is probably why they can offer 10% the whole store sales off with some regularity. If you dont believe me just look it up online. Never buy guns at Gander Mountain, it is consistently MSRP or above when you could go down to AGR Outdoors (290 and Telge) which is consistently under MSRP. The pressure the sales people put on you is likely driven by some metric which the sales people are rated to the % upsell that they can get from their customers, similar to best buy and there trying to sell you extended warranties. Ive had one unpleasant experience with the Management, where the sales guy wanted to do the right thing with a broken fishing pole (that didnt make it out of the parking lot no less) and the Manager wanted to stiff me. I only wrote this review because I noticed a bunch of phantom 5 star reviews which boggles my mind for this store. They do have great selection, which is nice, and the store is tidy, which is good, but they are overpriced relative to their competitors and the one issue that I did have, they didnt want to be honest, have integrity, or do the right thing. They wanted to be greedy over a $90 fishing pole.

Firstly, if I could award less than or negative stars I would! We went to purchase a handgun from this store, walked up to the almost empty counter and were not even greeted by a member of staff of which there were three in close proximity. We took a number from their system and waited to be served. Eventually after around 10 minutes a staff member said (while walking past), ill be with you in a minute. A further 15 minutes go by and still no service and again the same staff member said Ill be with you in a minute, he never returned. At the time there was one customer being served and there were three members of staff. After 40+ minutes we were just about to leave and another customer said to me "are you waiting to be served", I told his yes, he said "they ignore you in here, you have to literally make them serve you". With that we left and went to another store where we were served immediately by friendly informative staff, we were in and out in less than one hour and best of all the gun we bought was $50 cheaper! I told the staff at the second store about Gandar Mountain and they said no wonder they are filing for bankruptcy. That really didnt surprise me given the disgusting service that we got or rather didnt get. DO NOT USE THIS STORE IF YOU EXPECT GOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICE - RUDE AND ARROGANT STAFF!
