I am the owner of Sakonnet Grooming and I am writing in response to the inaccurate review written by Anthony Hanos. It is true that his wife presented us with a coupon that we could not honor. But what he forgot to mention is "why": 1). It was an online computer generated COUNTERFEIT coupon. 2). This was confirmed by my distributor (via phone) minutes prior to potential transaction. 3). A warning had been issued to all retail stores (directly from manufacturer) to have a heightened awareness of these very coupons. 4).Which is why I found it somewhat suspicious that this particular coupon was for TWO, 35 pound bags of Chicken Soup For The Dog Lovers Soul.(This is very unusual as most coupons weve honored are generally for a five pound bag). 5).We know our customers, and I had never seen this customer before. She had driven all the way from Newport to "cash" this coupon in. 6). She was adamant about walking out of our store with those two 35 pound bags for "free". I even graciously suggested to her I would pre-order her food and she could come back next Friday and then cash in coupon. (Giving me time to check the validity of coupon.) She flatly refused that offer. 7). Upon her angry (and rude) departure in front of another customer, I decided to make a few phone calls to some of my local pet store friends that also sold this product because I found it odd that she had driven so far and was so desperate. 8). Evidently, this woman had tried 2 other stores all the way up from Newport, all of which turned her down for the same reason, explaining why we were her last resort to score some free food. If I had honored her coupon she would have left our store with two, big 35 pound bags of one of our best selling foods (the last two for me to sell on my shelf until next delivery) and our business would have lost almost $100.00 to thievery. We are a privately owned business. We adore our customers and LOVE our profession. We form personal relationships. We value their business. We respect and appreciate that they understand the importance of feeding their pet quality food that makes their pet look and feel great. And that they return to us again and again. Customer service is extremely important to us, we do everything possible to encourage open communication and make everything right. "How can we help you?" and " What can I do to make you happy" are often used phrases in our salon and store. And we mean it and we stand behind it. We donate pet food to local shelters and to our customers experiencing financial difficulties. This review could not be farther from the truth. In closing, how would Mr. Hanos know how "capable" our groomers/stylists are? His pet was never groomed by us. Please read the other reviews, our mission and philosophy statement and browse our website for a more accurate assessment of our business. Thank you.

Customer Service was terrible. The owner was unwilling to honor a coupon because they were not a "large box" store even though they are considered dealer of my pets food on the vendors website. Even though the coupon had clear instructions on how the retailer was to be reimbursed for the product (through a simple and easy process) the owner was unwilling to compromise. I had to drive a distance to get to the store because they are the closest "dealer" of my dogs food (Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul - very good brand and inexpensive, try Amazon, not this place. Customer service is better, ironic, and they deliver it to your house.) Experiences like this make me feel less bad about purchasing products online. The one element that local businesses (should) have is customer service. When Im treated like a nuisance I have no remorse when these small businesses crumble under the inability to keep up with more efficiently run "large box" retailers. I do not hold this opinion across the board, but only in my experience with such poor customer service as delivered by "Sakonnet Grooming and Pet Supplies." Do yourself a favor and explore inexpensive options on Amazon for the pet supplies and try one of the more capable groomers in the area. I apologize to the owner of this store for inconveniencing her and her staff. I will not bring my business or refer business, as not to cause further inconvenience.

Horrible they over charged me, my dog came home every time with white flakes all over my last visit was the worst they didnt want to take the time to comb her out and called me and said make a decision or come pick her up or she gets shaved, that was unexcitable to shave my dog. they were very rude about it, how ever I took her to another place and was told she was never rinsed properly thats why she had so much dandruff ... they like to do volume not quality, not recommended at all. the owner obviously is clearly about the MONEY & not the care of the pets. enough said!

I am from out of state (Colorado), and regret that I can not return to this establishment. They did an amazing & thorough job with my dog. They paid special attention to his armpit and under behind leg area...they shaved it extra short, which is just what he needs. His ears were cleaned better than when the vet tech. did it last. This was the best grooming my dog ever received in his 4 years of life! Thank you Sakonnet Grooming. Fair pricing as well.

Ann and Jackie do a great job of grooming and give great advice on all aspects of pet care. They really seem to love the dogs and I can tell you that my dogs love them. My dogs wag like crazy and are actually HAPPY to go into the shop. Imagine that - no separation anxiety. Great Groomers and reasonable prices.

Wonderful place - clean, large, love that you can see into the grooming room. Anne is wonderful and it is clear that she is very knowledgeable. She asked questions about my dog and was very specific in asking about how we like his cut to look. I highly recommended Sakonnet Grooming!

Absolutely Unbelievable!!! From the moment I walked through the door it was obvious that I had brought my dog to the right place! Full of Hospitality, Anne took a ton of time to get to know my dog and make he and I both feel comfortable. LOVE THE PLACE!
