I took my truck here last year, and they basically made stuff up to pad my bill. Luckily Im not completely clueless when it comes to auto mechanics and I knew they were full of it. They tried to say something about my truck not working because of some wires that were messing with the computer. When I asked them to show me what they were talking about, it was suddenly a different truck that theyd confused with mine. My girlfriend was convinced it was an honest mistake, but she changed her mind when she took her car there more recently. She brought her car in for a routine inspection knowing that there was a problem since her check engine light was on. According to them, to fix everything and get it to pass inspection it was going to cost upwards of $1300. She believed everything they said up until they told her she would need all new tires. She bought new tires about six months before and doesnt do a ton of driving. She ended up taking it to a dealership instead where it ended up being about $650 to fix everything and pass inspection. We asked what they thought about the tires and they said they looked pretty close to new and she shouldnt need new ones for quite some time. Why Pep Boys would lie about something so obvious is beyond me, but she still has their ridiculous quote with all of these "necessary" fixes. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU ARE PREPARED TO CHECK ALL THEIR CLAIMS YOURSELF.

I went to Pep Boys because they offered "free diagnostic" on check engine lights and the dealership wanted $100 just to run the freaking codes. The guy at Pep Boys said that there were no codes displaying and they didnt know what was wrong with it and would have do additional diagnostic time, they came back and said they found out that there was a problem with the knock sensor and that the total to fix it would be $326 for the additional diagnostic work, parts, and labor. I didnt have the money at the time so I said Id come back after my next paycheck to get the part replaced and they charged me $117 for the additional diagnostic work. Later I took my car to a different shop because it was more convenient at the time and that mechanic ran the codes and it came up right away. He, and other mechanics that Ive talked to since, said that theres not a single reason why the code wouldnt have shown up right away. The guys a pep boys clearly took advantage of someone who didnt know a whole lot about cars. Dont go to Pep Boys. Seriously.

Above average service. Very suspicious of installation package, which includes replacement of TPS valves. These sensors have been valued at around $80 apiece. With that said, total would come approximately to $320 for a set of four. If the package is valued at $113, that would be a loss of $207, which is pretty substantial. This makes for an illegal scam ripping off customers. My gut feeling tells me that they are putting the same old valves back on, not new. I believe these valves do not need to be replaced at all, if there is no physical damage. You might think you are getting a great deal, because they tell you if you buy three tires you get the fourth free with the installation package, which is just a mark up of $30 or more, which makes for a nice little profit. This is totally dishonest.

Meant to write this up a few days ago, but I went into this Pep Boys on Rt. 51 at 8:45pm (15 minutes before they closed) and was in desperate need of service. My Jeeps battery had died an hour before that, I managed to jump it enough for it to turn on, and sped over to Pep Boys. I knew it was a long shot of getting service, but I figured Id try. Luckily enough, Jarald was nice enough to help me out. After ringing up everything, he didnt get to start on the car until a little after 9:00pm, but was extremely pleased with the service he provided when he could have easily just told me that it was past servicing time. Thanks again, Jarald. You helped me out tremendously, especially the fact that I had my 9 month old son with me.

HORRIBLE PLACE TO WORK IN PITTSBURGH. I WAS A LOOP DRIVER FOR 8 MONTHS AND WORKED IN 2 STORES.STARTED AS A WEEKENDER UP UNTIL ME AND MY COWORKERS POSITIONS WERE FILLED WITH COMMERCIAL DRIVERS. SO INSTEAD OF DRIVING I WAS STOCKING TIRES (MYSELF) FOR MONTHS!!! UNTIL THEY FIGURED IT OUT. OVER TIME I WAS EXPECTED WAY TOO MUCH OUT OF . .INCLUDED PICKUP SLACK OF THOSE OTHER DRIVERS . TRANSFERRING STORES WITH NO REAL REASON OR REAL PAPEPWORK . NO ACCIDENT COVERAGE FOR THE DRIVERS SO IF YOUR STUCK. YOUR JUST STUCK. NEVER GOT THE RAISE THAT WAS PROMISED MANAGEMENT IS TERRIBLE . DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND FLIP FRIES FOR MCDONALDS ATLEAST YOULL GET SOME RESPECT.

Went to take our vehicle to get a state inspection done and ended up spending almost a thousand dollars. Then when my husband drove the vehicle home he had to put his foot all the way to the ground to even think of stopping. We took it back and they "adjusted" the rear brakes and never called to say it was done. The only reason we knew it was done was we drove by 2 days later and saw the vehicle parked out front. We asked when it was done and the guy didnt say anything. They gave our vehicle back the first time saying it was safe to drive but it wasnt. Dont trust these guys. If you take it in test drive it yourself first before leaving home.

The employees here (particularly one of them) will not care about the customers but the exception here is the manager seems to be good. But you always wont get service from the manager. They have very little or no respect for the questions / problems of the customers. The only thing they care here at this pepboys is how to extract maximum money from the customers. I have changed my brakes, tyres, wipers and other small stuff and ended up paying lot more than what I get out side in other auto service centers. I sincerely suggest anybody not to go to this location unless it is very urgent.

On our way back from vacation our muffler began to make noise. As we have gone to Pep Boys in the past (against my better judgement) we took the car in (which had just been inspected there). All of a sudden our car needed $2000 worth of parts and $200 of labor. They were extremely pushy and told us that the car wouldnt run properly, etc. We took it to a 5 star muffler garage in the vicinity and were floored when we received the bill...$16 for 2 bolts. The muffler was loose. Never, ever again will Pep Boys get our business.

Dave (Manager), and Bobby (Mechanic) do a great job. Every time I have come this this Pepboys, I have a great experience. Always willing to be helpful with any questions I may have. I do wish, however, some of the more high end jobs were a little less expensive. I understand that its not just this store but all tire shops. For bigger repairs I always go to private mechanics. Tire stores, it seems, have always had their Achilles hill appear anything past an oil change, or tire rotation.
