First off; the shop is very hard to locate. "Behind the old pancake house" is a terrible description of how to locate the front door when I called to ask for directions. I went to sell some silver proof coin sets and was basically quoted pawn shop prices. It was offensive the way the young man who seemed to be running things, (didnt look older than 16 or 17), reacted to me as a customer from the moment I walked in the shop to the time I passed on their ridiculous prices and left. Also, I had a commemorative US Marine Corp Iwo Jima silver dollar and stamp set, which I bought directly from the US Mint along with the same coin that is silver proof in a velvet box, and no one in the shop seemed to know what it was and therefore were not interested in purchasing it. I quickly used their Red Book and found it under the "Government Issue Commemorative Sets" but because it was not on their "Gray Sheet" it might as well have been minted in my basement. Look...its not the business decision to buy or not buy my items...its the way you treat customers who come to you looking to be treated fairly and with respect. The kid running things made no effort to do either and his attitude resonated throughout the shop with the other employees too. I will never again patronize this business and should have stuck to my original plan to go to Salem Coin off Lancaster where I have been treated very well in the past.

I think Tonys review might be a little unfair. No one can expect to be paid "spot value" unless you have huge quantities ($10,000+) and risk shipping it to the processor. Should one buy stocks, the broker gets a commission on buying and selling, despite whether you make money or not. These guys that buy metals can lose their shorts (or make a huge profit) in a moment. Silver is a "commodity" and commodities are always risky (high rate of return or loss). Compare these buyers to the "well buy your old, broken, unwanted gold" infomercial scheisters who rape gullible morons for 15% of the melt value (Consumer Reports - Oct.2010). Sixteen percent seems high, but not out of order as far as coin dealers and pawns are concerned (how do you think they keep the lights on?). And, NO, I dont know these people from Adam.

Highly Recommend :) Very honest, Polite, multi-generation family coin, silver, and gold shop. very good prices on buy-back, better than others in this area. been going there for over a decade. they also help with values on household silver and gold items. the friendly customer service is thorough. sometimes it is very busy, and we sure dont mind waiting for them to help other people that were there before us, as we know they are doing their best for everyone. they even have a sigma metalytics precious metals verifier/tester for silver and gold rounds, bars, and coins; a great way to test them without leaving marks.

Never open! Drove all the way out to South Salem before Christmas, sign said closed til Jan 4th so I spent my money at the other local shops. Decided to give it another shot on Jan 8th but called first to make sure they were open. Message on voicemail said they were going to be on vacation from jan 6th til feb 6th. I might try to go back to see if its any good, but I doubt it. I just dont see a great shop ran by a guy who closes it down for a week during retail frenzy season, only to open it for two days and close it down for another month.

No service, lady was arguing and cursing at who Im guessing to be her son behind the counter. She seen us walk in and looked our way and never once even greeted us. After being there for several minuets and with no help, I finally decided just to leave. I knew exactly what I wanted before going to the shop and it would have been a simple transaction. I will stick to my favorites Salem coin or Tiptons from now on. This was my first and last time I will ever go to capital coin. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Such a great coin shop. Great selection. Great people. They have spot/buy/sell price posted. Their sell prices are competitive with ampex and jmbullion. Low premiums and minimum spread. Their customer service is A1. You feel like you are dealing with real people, not "dealers". Definitely one of the areas finest shops.

Fairly new to the area and have dealt with a few different dealers in the area. Capitol coin is definitely my go to shop to buy or sell. They have very good prices on precious metals. Always friendly service. Just awesome people period. Hands down the best coin shop in town from my own experience.

Has been a good store to buy-sell-trade. But now it has gone south under new management. Poorer numismatic deals and very poor silver buy prices: no better and.possibly worse than the average pawn shop. I will not return! E H

Got a fair price for my silver today (for this town). Prompt, professional, and kind. I would not hesitate to return. I like local shops and local Salem folks. Been here 40 years myself. Thank You, David
