Called Ridgewood Cycle not knowing anyone there and asked for trail advice. They put Anthony on the phone and he was super knowledgeable and aware of conditions. I needed a chainring changed so I brought my bike in the next day. Anthony came in on his day off, got the bike done a few hours later, did about a hundred extra little things that I never would have thought of, and only charged for the services that I asked for initially. Anthony is 23 years old and is a lunatic with a wrench. This is the guy you want working on your bike. Im pretty sure he liked my bike more than I do and I paid more for it than some spend on a car. When I built and raced cars I was in my early twenties, and when I walked into the pits or an engine shop people just got out of my way because I had already forgotten more modern tech than anybody ever knew. Anthony is the same with bikes. Go get your bike fixed before he is lost to a World Cup Mechanic career forever...

Hit or miss when it comes to salespeople. One time I went in I got a really engaging salesperson. On the other hand, the second time I went in, a different salesman actually told me "Go home and call this number and ask for Keith. He can help you." Huh? But Im here now... Another time, all the attendants on the floor were busy and I ended up walking all the way to the back. I asked the person behind the counter for help. He just looked at me like I had three heads, pointed to the front of the store and said "You want a salesperson." Talk about rude! I felt about 3 inches tall. Evidently, I had accidentally ended up at the repair station and the gorilla behind the counter had never been taught how to properly interact with a customer. In any case, I cant recommend this place at all. After a few days of searching, I ended up at a great little shop in Elmwood Park. See my other reviews if youre looking for a bike shop that will treat you right.

Anthony, Elliot, and the rest of the crew at Ridgewood Cycle represent everything thats great about local bike shops. I go here for everything--theyve tuned up my cranky old Miyata, quickly swapped a stem to get my Surly to fit just right, and worked patiently with me to build up a custom Soma Smoothie from scratch. Every interaction Ive had with them has been friendly and enthusiastic. Above all, they are respectful of all types of riders, from the hardcore roadie to the newcomer. If youre looking for service, you wont find a better mechanic in the area than Anthony. And if youre shopping for gear or a new bike, Elliot does an outstanding job of listening to your needs and coming up with the right solution for your budget.

Went in because i was getting flats. I changed the tube, check the tires & rims and didnt find anything. I went in and spoke to a tech and all he did was do the same. thru away my good tube that i just finished changing. Spent about 5 mins looking at the tube and not the rim or tire. Used my tube and charged me for labor for something i couldve done. Left for a small ride and 10 mins later caught a flat. Had to walk back to the store to complain. ALl they did was give me a spare tube and told me they were closed. Went to a shop in lincoln park and they resolved an issue. Spoke to the owner from the shop in lincoln park store (Rich) and he fixed my problem for hte same price and actually re-taped my rim

The best LBS in Bergen County. Ive been riding since I was born. Was licensed to race in my late teens and twenties. Over the years, ive bought my wife and kids great bikes from Ridgewood Cycle with expert advice. Ive taken my various Bianchis (from columbus/nuovo record to carbon/chorus) for work. UPDATE: Was hit by a car for the first time in 33 years of riding the roads of North Jersey. Andrew and staff looked my bike over thoroughly, worked with insurance through the claims process, and helped me replace my bike with settlement funds. They made the super-difficult situation of losing a pricey bike I loved into a positive situation of looking forward to a bike that is even better for me.

Been going there ever since they helped my wife buy me a new road bike as a birthday surprise 10 years ago. My wife had very little knowledge about what to look for and yet she ended up with a great bike that I rode and raced on for years. They basically could have sold her anything that day but they took the time to find the right bike (in the right size for someone who wasnt even there!) at a great price. To this day they have great service and excellent selection for beginners all the way up to advanced. The salespeople are knowledgeable and can speak from experience about riding, running, triathlons, you name it. Highly recommend.

Overall excellent bike shop with an impressive variety of bikes and accessories for beginners to advanced. Anthony has worked on my bike a few times and was extremely helpful and thorough, offering much appreciated suggestions on selecting the best products and methods for routine cleaning and maintenance. He is very personable, provided great customer service and is a terrific mechanic. Elliot has provided assistance with sales and support a number of times and has has always provided outstanding service. I have always found this LBS to be friendly and helpful - highly recommended.

i went there to fix my bike because my spokes were loose, the charged me 20 dollars per rim, they had my bike for 2 days and didnt even touched it, the problem was still there. all he did was take half of the price off instead of trying to do the job. all he said was give it time and the noise will go away by it self. great service! (NOT). i too it someplace else and they fixed it instantly and done right. To who ever is reading this, do your self a big favor and find any other shop than this one. you can give your money away, and you will get the same results.

Dropped by the store with a gear problem on my mountain bike. Richard was very knowledgeable and was able to pinpoint the problem very quickly. My old bike shop had installed a new chain meant for an 8 speed whereas my Rocky Mountain is a 9 speed. They replaced the chain and installed a new chain set as the original was well worn. I was very impressed with the both the level and promptness of service and will definitely make this place my new neighborhood bike store.

I was also very disappointed with the "tune up" service. Personnel at Ridgewood Cycle seems to be hit or miss. The good ones are very good. The not-so-good ones seem eager to get you out the door and inclined to say whatever may ply you in that direction. I was sold on Ridgewood Cycle, it is bright, clean, great selection. Not any more. They are expensive, but dont seem to think they need to earn it.

This is simply the best LBS in Bergen County and possibly the NYC area. Ive been going here for 30 years. Everyone working there knows bikes! The mechanics and sales people are excellent. Ive purchased six bikes over the years from RCS and had them serviced there. Always pleased! When I was hit by a car and my bike was destroyed, the people of RCS helped me work with insurance to get my bike replaced.
