Unfortunately, the worst shopping experience of my life occured here. Im 30 years old and have always loved to shop. That being said, Ive experienced many different retail environments from a customer perspective in many different states, as well as also working retail with multiple years experience, so I am very familiar with the pressures & requirements employees face with customer service, and which rules when broken are grounds for employment termination. The sales associates as well as the very manager of womens shoes deliberately ignored me while perusing through Louboutin, Chanel, and Gucci. I spent 10 minutes in the area and not once did an associate or the very manager of the department approach me to offer any assistance, or a simple greeting for that matter. But the moment an elderly woman approached the same display that I had been hanging around, I immediately noticed the manager approach her for assistance. This was a blatant act of discrimination against me, and I felt VERY humiliated and discrespected. Whats ironic about this is that I had just spent the weekend shopping at Nordstrom and purchasing over $4,000 worth of merchandise on my Nordstrom credit card, including a pair of Valentino Garavani pumps for $825. I was no where near my credit limit and was genuinely interested in a pair of Louboutin with which to end my spree. I was very upset for the next few hours by the utter disrespect & discrimination that had been done me by these very unprofessional & rude associates who obviously lack basic, elementary skill of customer service & engagement, or company policy. These associates should be fired, no question. They are a liability to Nordstrom for discriminatory lawsuits.

Cant beat Nordstrom in downtown Portland! I picked up a bottle of Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, which is not in any other Oregon store, and got a bunch of perks along with it free! I was given 3 other Tom Ford samples to try layering with the Tuscan Leather, and my purchase earned me a mens skin care sample brick with many high-quality deluxe mens skin care and fragrance samples in it! After my purchase, I stood there for about a half hour just talking fragrances with the guy at the counter. Nowhere else do they have that much knowledge and that phenomenal of a selection. Not to mention they carry Keihls, La Mer, David Donahue, Tom Ford, Hugo Boss and even some couture upstairs! This is truly characteristic of any trip to any Nordstrom. Their products are the best money can buy, their customer service is phenomenal and their prices are fair retail prices. The downtown store is a beautiful building and location. You walk in to this massive, upscale building and see that it just exudes quality and class. Anyone looking for

I love Nordstrom! When you call, a REAL PERSON answers the phone!!!!! The associates are great, there are plenty of them in the departments so I get assistance quite soon. I mostly buy things at a huge on-sale discount. If Nordstrom is "doing something to Donald Trump" as a previous commenter says he does not like, -- Hey an extra star for Nordstrom -- SIX STARS. (I do not buy from stores that support Trump.) It means a whole lot to me to know that Nordsrom is standing up for me against cruel Trump and his dangerous cronies. Most of my friends are elderly and/or have disabilities. We also have Federal assistance with our rent, which we could not pay otherwise. And of course the government should keep our air, water and food safe, but Trump et al dont want that, either. Where does Trump want our tax dollars to go? To an already over-inflated, wasteful military, and to the ultra rich.

For a "high end" department store, my experience was a joke. I went in looking for lipstick, but after trying a couple on I couldnt stand to have another salesgirl hover awkwardly in front of me as if I didnt know what I was doing and what looked good on me. The most glaring moment was when I asked a salesgirl at the MAC counter if most of the lipsticks were opaque. "Oh no!" she said, "only these ones..." "And the matte ones here too, right?" I said. "Oh, no! The matte lipsticks are full coverage, theyre gonna have a lot of pigment," she said. "Yeah, opaque," I said. She responded "Well, to me, opaque means see-through." Gag!!! If youre gonna work at a makeup counter, you need to know basic color vocab. Sorry Nordstrom, cant take you seriously anymore.

What really sets Nordstrom apart from other department stores is their service, and this location is no exception. The sales staff will learn your name and your preferences after just a visit or two, and are adept at making recommendations of things you will like, and that will flatter your shape. If you wish, you can even give them your phone number, and they will call you when they have items they think you will like, and notify you of special sales. I have never failed to be impressed, and am just blown away by the service I have received from Kim in the Womens department.

One of my very favorite shopping experiences. Not a discount places, but a place where I usually feel like Im getting my monies worth with the quality of the experience, products, and service. They will go farther than anyone else Ive encountered about ensuring your happiness with what you get... even oddly long period of time after your purchase. In my mind I justify paying more on select items because I know that Nordstrom for sure will back it up if it wears or breaks down more that it should.

Nordstroms has a certain panache that is rare to find in department stores. The goods - clothing, shoes (especially), and various accessories - are high quality and generally expensive. The service is outstanding, with employees well trained and thoughtful. I tried on several coats here, found the right one in the wrong size, and they were quick to both call around and have it put away for me. One star off for expense, but that may be a personal preference.

Pretentious, condescending employees....please remember that Im the one shopping there and youre the one who works there.... (no need to ask if Im sure when I request a size; I didnt ask for your advice regarding my style choice; no need to explain to me which tag needs to remain for your company to accept a return when we havent even finalized the sale; Ive been shopping here over 13 years if I say I dont want a nordstroms credit card then I dont want it)

Ive only experienced the mens department and the shoe section, but if they are any indication of the service you will receive, it would be a mistake to not try shopping here. I spent over an hour trying to find a pair of slacks and shirt for an event later that day, and not only did they spend the time to select a number of options for me to try, they went above and beyond getting my slacks sized within an hour. Wonderful folks, highly recommend.

I went there to buy a chanel handbag, the SA there checked on the computer and told me the handbag on display was the only one they got, I didnt want that one and I left. Then later that day, I called to see if there was any other way I could get a brand new one, she hung up to check, and called me back in two minutes and told me that "luckily", she found a brand new one in the system. Really?
