I am a long time Banana Republic patron, started shopping here in the early 90s. Unfortunately during that time I have watched the clouting and the employees decline in quality. I was in need of a pair of shoes and did not want to spend more than $150, so I decided to go and browse. I found a pair of Frye look a likes and decided to try them on. They are leather uppers with some synthetic material inside. They fit the bill. When I tried them on, I asked the clerk if they had significant stretch, his reply was "They are leather" Did I mention he was on the phone with his friend while he was "helping me". I should have just asked for a manager right then, but put my emotions aside because I was in a rush. Clearly so was the clerk, because there was no one in the store, (wonder why) and he wanted to get back to his personal phone call. Had his headphones in, and was acting completely indignant. I ended up purchasing the shoes anyway because, I was in a rush and had more important things to take care of. I now hate the Chinese made, cheep shoes and have lost all respect for the products and people in the store. Every time I wear them, I laugh at the way the guy in the store treated me, and think of all of the money I would have subsequently spent there if it had never happened. I am thankful in a way. I will say, the final straw was this experience, my family and I now relegate ourselves to making the store a family joke and the guy on the phone, as a symbol of what is wrong with our country. To you guy on the phone, you should be fired, but you already know that. I may still call to inform management about him, but that would mean more time out of my day, and quite frankly from what I hear from friends and family involved in the retail industry. The brand is in self destruct mode, and I can just wait to seem them go the way of Sears, a slow disaster of a demise..... In short this could be the worst store around, but I will never be back to find out. Disappointed former customer....

I purchased a pair of pants that I liked very much at the BR store in downtown Portland in mid-July, and have been since worn them probably ten times. On Monday of this week, I spilled salsa on the pants and sprayed them with a stain remover, and then placed them in the washing machine. Somehow the pants emerged with a stain - very strange, unexpected. I mentioned this at BR and asked if there were any known problems with dyes; the sales associate asked the manager, who very graciously said I should bring the pants in. I didnt ask for a return or refund, I just wondered if there had been a problem. What happened was incredible, generous customer service. Thanks to Jason, the manager, for going beyond the call of duty.

This Banana Republic has a terrific location near Pioneer Square. This BR is also large with two floors of displays and clothes. Another benefit is if someone in your party does not want to shop for clothes, there are plenty of seats around the store!

The products are well made and the staff is friendly. However, I think Banana is a little overpriced for what is offered. However, if you are looking for a some basic outfits that are not too shabby, this may be a good place to go to.

I dont like to admit it, but BR always has clothes that fit me well, work with my Portland-office-casual style, and look good. This location is conveniently located downtown, has helpful staff and wasnt too busy when I visited.

Everyone was very very nice helpful and efficient. We stopped on our way to the airport and they held our luggage for us and made sure we got what we wanted!

Maybe Minneapolis BRs are outliers but they put this place to shame when it comes to service. Order online and just avoid this location.

Great place to grab clothes but make sure to sign up for their emails and bring in the coupons they email you. Lots of 40% off coupons.
