We are very happy with our purchases! First we decided to compare their services for kitchen cabinets. We were reluctant at first but actually felt like they did a better job with designing our kitchen than the more well known competitors in the area. The other places rushed us through the design process. For NEFD, we made an appointment online and they were ready for us when we arrived. They took their time and had much better ideas than the sales reps at the other stores. We never felt rushed either. When we looked at the bottom line price, NEFD was about $4,000 less than the other companies and we got some extras like sliding pot and pan drawers. They promised the cabinets would arrive in about 5 weeks and they came in right on time. We absolutely love them and received many, many compliments!!!! We went with the shaker style cabinets in a Maple Cognac with stainless steel hardware to match our appliances. We actually liked these cabinets better than the ones we saw at the other stores. We needed a few more trim pieces after the first shipment and we received quick attention and they were shipped within a week. After our successful kitchen order, we ordered a sofa, love seat, and 6 counter height stools/chairs. They arrived very quickly and the price was right. The quality seems to be good as well. There was a little problem in that the love seat was missing some hardware and a few of the chairs were not sitting square on the floor. We called the NEFD service line, scheduled a repair appointment, and both issues were resolved in about a week. The only suggestion I have for shoppers is to take your time and go back a few times before actually buying your furniture. They of course want to get sales- its a business. But once your furniture gets ordered, its difficult to return or you pay a hefty restocking fee. You can cancel your order completely if its within 3 days (I think?). This is probably one of the reasons they can keep prices lower. Their policy is clearly written on the back of the receipt but the sales people dont really point it out . The only reason I say this is that we knew we wanted sofa and love seat and went to the store prepared to order them. At the last minute, we made an additional "impulse purchase" on our counter chairs. 4 or 5 days later I started second guessing because I hadnt looked around enough. The 3 days had passed, so it was too late to cancel the order. Like I said, the policy was written very clearly on the receipt and I could have cancelled the order if I had done this sooner. I talked to the sales people and they actually were willing to work with us. We ended up keeping the stools and, thankfully, we like them very much!!!! It was just a little stressful worrying that we would be stuck if we didnt like them. You will probably be very happy with NEFD If you do your homework, know their policies, and resist impulse buys. That being said, we are very happy with our furniture and our cabinets and plan to shop there again!!

The worst company that I have ever dealt with! They lied to me and my wife about so many things to sell the job. Once we signed the papers they were done with us . It took over a month to get our designer to return a phone call or e-mail.Only when I sent an e-mail saying that I would not except delivery of the cabinets did I get a response. When our cabinets did arrive two doors were smashed and shelves were missing. Even after their installer confirmed the damage it was still a battle to get them replaced.Even after I paid them for a in home measure their quote was off by over $1,500 by time the kitchen was completed. They also ordered one extra cabinet that would not fit in our kitchen and it took about 4 months to get a refund for it. They never contacted their granite guy for our counter tops so that meant another month delay. Upon installation I I had trim moldings fall off the first day. They caused a water leak that ruined our ceiling downstairs and it took over 4 months and many phone calls to get it fixed. They lied to us about up-charges on the counter top. The installer intervened and contacted the granite guy to get our counter top. They also told us that we would get a $300 credit for purchasing our own sink only to find out later that it was not true. After being told that the counter top was going to cost us over $1500 more because of the mistakes and lies we were told by Northeast . I contacted Northeast and was to by the designer that gave us the quote to "deal with the counter top guy dirrect, that she was done with me" What a shock! After everything was finally done my Wife and I decided to replace a cabinet at the end of our hall and wanted it to match so I contacted Angelo and e-mailed him our measurement for a price and I would install it myself. After several days with NO response I called for a price. I was told that they would get back to me.A day later Angelo e-mailed me a price quote of $650. I emailed back immediately and told him that I would like to purchase it. He then e-mailed back and said that he made a mistake and now the cabinet is over $1200 and he refused to honor his first price quote.Upon contacting the BBB about their business practices , they responded by saying that I was abusive and berated their employees and feel that they have done nothing wrong and I should take my business elsewhere. That is far from the truth. I was NEVER disrespectful to any of them.I recommend that everybody should google their reviews and check with the BBB before making a decision. You must check on Northeast Factory Direct and Kitchen Cabinet Outlet because they go by two different names . They also advertise on 95.5 The Fish christian radio station so I made the mistake of giving them false credibility. Also note that the only way they beat our price quote from Home Depot was by under cutting their estimate only to add on at a later time calling it errors on their part but it still cost us much more in the end.

Beware any company that gets either 5 stars or 1 on almost all the reviews. It means bad business, bad competition writing fake reviews, and the business themselves writing fake reviews to nudge up the star average rating on top of service ranging from awesome, to terrible. I sold furniture and mattresses, then owned my own furniture and bedding store, moved to being a corporate buyer for first local, then regional, and eventually national furniture as well as department store chains. Starting with the furniture prices are 50% less than everyone else claim. "I dont know how they do it!", the ads say. They dont. For example, Ashley Furniture owns thousands of furniture stores, # 1 in the world, and manufactures some of the furniture Northeast Factory Direct, and many others, sell, (I cant speak for the cabinetry, but its up to 70% less than everyone else according to the ads). Do you really think because the NFD store has no carpet or a drop ceiling that they can afford to sell the same products for 50% less than the people who manufacture it, and then sell it in their own stores? The problem is two fold. A. People think profit is evil. Its not, its how we all pay the bills. You get what you pay for in service and product. It is however, the main reason why people believe this kind of advertising in the first place. B. Its called "managing expectations." When a company sets the customers expectation falsely... "Dont be a sucker and pay retail! Buy the same stuff at half the price of the other guys!" ...its going to tick people off, because even though they should know better, they want to believe that $2500.00 "leather" Ashley theater seating set is as good as the Flexsteel set that costs 2X as much. When you get Ashley, but expect Flexsteel, and it fails in a time frame much sooner than expected, is there any amount of advertising that is going to send you, the customer, back to NFD? In this day and age of electronic communication, its a dangerous way to sell, because once word gets out, it may or may not show up on Yelp, but you can bet your toosh its texted, emailed, facebooked, and twittered, which is a not a good recipe for a sustainable business model. They say a reputation is often earned. Bottom line. Its not bad furniture, and they have good service. The furniture, and I would venture to say, everything else, is decent >for the price<, but its the same price, and likely a touch higher than some competitors, for the same product. Its a market certainty. My advice. Find the place that people go back to, and buy from over and over. Wherever that is, thats where you want to do business. If your going to buy furniture from NFD, (or anywhere else!) dont listen to me. Talk to your family. Talk to friends and neighbors. See what furniture experiences they have, and ask what they think. This way, you can manage your >own< expectations.
