This place is a total rip off. I knew almost nothing about scooters when I came in there and they saw me coming from a mile away. If you have to deal with the guy in the service department be prepared to hear how much your scooter sucks compared to the overpriced ones in their show room. Then they will charge you 50 bucks just to look at the thing. In my case I had oil leaking from the engine(duh) needed a new tire,a spark plug and carb cleaned. They recommended a valve adjustment as well. All together they wanted $350 plus the $50 upfront to do the work. The service guy quoted me the most expensive parts they had like the $50 tire instead of the $20 one etc. and told me they had no idea when the scooter would be ready. I could not afford all that so for $250 they would do everything except replace the gaskets to stop the oil leak. I get the scooter home after a week with no communication and the guy refusing to return my calls and the oil leak is now worse. I called a trusted mechanic at Five Points Motors in High Point and had them look at it for me. Apparently when you do a valve adjustment, you have to take off the valve cover anyway and it is recommended that you change out this gasket while you are adjusting the valves. This is where my oil leak was coming from and scooterdorks wanted to charge me $100 to replace a part that literally costs about a dollar and involves no more work than what he was doing to adjust the valves. Then I find out that the valves were not adjusted correctly and the air box was damaged from when the carb was cleaned. Their customer service pawns you off on someone else even when they are not doing anything, they will rip you off if you didnt buy one of their $5K scooters and you cant trust their service department. If they had treated me with an ounce of respect and worked towards fixing my inexpensive Chinese scooter, not providing me with the most overpriced quote I could afford, I would have gone back and bought my LXV from them. Instead I went to Vespa of Charlotte and they even took off the cost of scooternerds invoice. I loaded the scooter on my prohoist carrier and came back to Gboro. If you need service on your scooter go ask your auto mechanic if they know a motorcycle guy or take it to a lawn mower repair place. If you want to buy a scooter check online first. Most Dealers will ship them for free, assembled and tested, for less than scooterdorks price. After getting burned at Geek Squad I knew I should stay away form the nerd, geek, dork, dweeb named businesses as all that means is "We know more than you and will use it to rip you off!"

►►►SIX out of Five STARS◄◄◄ Having to choose a department to review is too restrictive for my appreciation of Select Cycle. I think that I have spoken with all personnel at one time or another. Every Select Cycle employee gave me their full attention, answered questions thoroughly, honestly, and with sincere enthusiasm. Each time I have visited Select Cycle I see some new wrinkle added which shows the commitment of the organization to be not only the best motorcycle shop in the area, but to be a benchmark for motorcycle shops on the east coast. At no time have I ever been disappointed with the response of a Select Cycle employee or felt that a visit to the shop was not well worth the long trip. As a man of 63 summers, I have had the opportunity to work in one motorcycle business, and visit many others. Select Cycle represents everything that is good about the motorcycle industry and its associated culture. All best wishes for the continued success of a remarkable enterprise.

Staff did not seem interested in analyzing my problem. Motorcycle culture demands a certain level of curiosity and compassion for the issues of other riders, and this shop did not provide that. I have a garage-built 49cc moped that simply needed a basic fuel valve, one which, because my bike was not a specific make/model with which they may order from, refused to provide service. No OEM or generic parts. I had measurements of the valve I needed to order, but staff were not capable (or willing?) of searching for model numbers which would fit those paramaters. I have shopped at countless cycle shops in Maryland, Michigan, Illinois, and the Carolinas and rarely encounter this kind of shop. If you are looking for guys who just read the owners manual and service to specific make/models, then shop here. If you want someone who actually knows bikes and is well-rounded in finding problems outside of the norm, then go elsewhere.

Awesome bikes, bought mine 3 years ago and it still runs better than the new cheaper bikes. Definitely worth the money for a safe, reliable, and fun to ride scooter. I see people coming in to this shop all the time with the cheaper bikes and they complain that to get the problems fixed cost more than they paid for the scooter. I admit that was me with my first bike, so live and learn. Another thing that impressed me was they will not touch a bike for repair if it appears to be stolen. Anyway, I have gotten nothing but top notch service with the most honest (sometimes too honest) employees and it has been nothing but a pleasure dealing with this company.

This dealership was recommended to me by a friend. I emailed back and forth with Bill several times before making a trip to see them. When I arrived, I was greeted promptly and warmly. He took the time to find out what I was looking for in a bike before helping me make a decision. Being a salesman myself, I appreciated their straight forward, no pressure approach. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with my experience and couldnt be happier with my new Triumph motorcycle! Just an update after having my bike for a few months now. Everybody at the shop has continued to be awesome! Keep it up!

These guys are so honest and helpful I imagine its bad for business. What I mean is they are so willing to help you and point you to the right product, they dont even care if you buy it there. I all the time come in or call about a mechanical issue and rather than charging you to fix it they are more than willing just to tell you how, point you to resources and order the parts for you and basically no markup. They are so nice there I make the long drive just to support them, I wish there were more local business like this.

Hey I just have to say that anybody who hates on Scooternerds is either (a) just a hater (b) a member of the darkside Sith or (c) covert espionage agents from other scooter stores in the area. I bought my first Vespa with these guys and they rock. They walked me through the whole process and according to all the research I did on Vespas they did me right. They are great techs and good people. Now I buzz around the Gate City and proudly display my Scooternerds plate (for now). Thanks yall. -Rady

Really worked to make the sale. Warranty service after the sale has been terrible. Ive even had a complete lie told to me concerning a repair for a safety issue - repair effected no change, though I was told the issue was improved, but not fully corrected.. Dont waste your money here. Im spending money out of pocket once again, even though the scooter is still under warranty, so I can have confidence in the repairs being done.
