My lawnmower wasnt working, so I took it to Gales for service. We were told 10-14 days for repair. It took more than 3 weeks, and when I called to get an update, they hung up on me. I called back, and was told they would "call me." We used the mower once. Now it wont start again, and the helpful staff said they would be happy to charge us $30-50 to look at it again. Clearly the problem was not actually fixed the first time, but god forbid they try and make it right. I found out after taking the mower in that my mother had a similar issue. She took something in for a battery replacement and took it home to have it not work at all. So, if you need something repaired, take it somewhere else. Ill never be stepping foot in there again.

My boyfriend went into true value and purchased an item. When he got in line there was a man in front of him who paid with a $20 bill, he got his change and left. My boyfriend went to pay with his $20 bill and the cashier scanned his $20 bill under the counterfeit reader. He asked why didnt she check the man in front of him, she said that the man is a valued customer. Discrimination at its best. The man was white my boyfriend is black. It was very racist and we didnt appreciate that. I will NEVER go back to true value again.

This is my favorite hardware store in the area. Many helpful staff that are knowledgeable with most projects as well as having a great awareness of what they stock. I used to go to the big home improvement stores for small items like fasteners, tools, etc. I would usually wander looking for what I needed or someone to help me find it. Whereas Gales always has someone to help and can immediately take you to the products you want if they have them. They are a small store, but I have been impressed with their selection.

I disagree with John Doe. Ive always been treated well. I always go there to buy sometime ridiculously small orings or screws and the staff would always spend time with me trying out several items similar to my request just so that I get what I have come for. The screws would be sometimes so cheap that I wonder would spending that amount of time just to get the right fit for them would really worth the value of their prices?! Thats why I think the staff is all about costumer satisfaction.

Great selection of items, use to have good support staff but sadly no longer. The one somewhat knowledgeable person/manager has poor customer service attitude. Getting help and questions answered is a challenge and requires lots of time. Trying to support local shops, but no good deed goes unpunished, Lowes / Home Depot is sadly a better choice

Unfortunately, the"old-timers" who knew the business and the stock and were very customer-oriented, , seem to have retired, and the new people dont have the knowledge and the understanding of customer service that they did. Too bad, because its always been a friendly and high-quality neighborhood store. Its still o.k., just not like before.

I have been amazed throughout my15 years of shopping at Gales the endless number of items they carry and they ALWAYS know were to find them! The $1 more you MAY pay is well worth the service and convenience they provide. I recently moved to Charlotte NC and Gales may be the only thing I will truly miss.

As a woman Ive always felt uncomfortable here and todays encounter confirms why. I believe there is a pervasively sexist attitude going on here. Today the clerk was extremely patronizing then, when I called him on it, he tried to back-pedal. In neither posture did he listen to learn what I wanted.

Disagree with Emily! Awesome repair shop! They can fix anything: mowers, blowers, electrical...every machine I have taken there has been fixed within just a few days! New repair guy, quick turn around, and way cheaper than the guys down the road. Try these guys first!

GREAT personal service. You would never, EVER get attentive knowledgeable customer service like Brad (Gales Mgr) offers. Menard or Lowes does not have caring, trained personnel.

This is a real hardware store. Many specialty items not available in box-store hardware aisle. Gails is my go-to store for hardware.
