I have been in the store 4 times, and purchased a bike from this store about a week ago. It is a small store and the prices are average. The younger man in the shop is helpful. The older man ignored me and on one occasion, was flat out rude. On each occasion, the older man mostly stayed behind the counter, ignoring me, although I was only five feet away. The day of this incident, was just after my birthday and my family wanted to get a bike for me. I came to the bike shop a few minutes ahead of them to select one before they arrived, to save time. I spoke with the younger man, and took a test ride on a bike that he recommended. When I came back a few minutes later, there were some other people outside, talking to the older man about a bike. He approached me and said "You cant just take a bike out of the shop and go for a ride. We have to check the bike out and ensure it is ready to ride." I was surprised and embarrassed. I nicely told him that the younger man had already checked the bike and told me to take the test ride. He took the bike from me and never apologized. I wanted to leave and not give them my business, but my family was walking up the sidewalk, all smiles, after shopping at the used book store (great place by the way) and I didnt want to let the mans rudeness impact our happy day. My wife went to pick the bike up a few days later. I still hadnt told her about the incident. I asked her how it went. She said that she stood at the counter for 5 to 10 minutes, five feet away from the two men that were working, waiting - there were no other customers in the store. All in all, it was a pretty rotten experience.

New Owner and WOW have things changed!! Its like the world has flipped on its axis. I have had 2 bikes tuned up and repaired lately, both were done fast and perfectly, with a friendly attitude. I had a ride to go on the last week and need to drop my bike off for a tune up, I got to the store 1/2 hour earlier than they opened. I knocked and the owner came and let me in anyway, setting me up. Then on Friday I noticed my upper limit wasnt right, so I dropped in and said I was going for a ride can he look at this rreal quick? They put my bike up on the holder, found that my screw spring wasnt right and fixed it for me on the spot!!!! Bike worked flawlessly THIS WOULD OF NEVER HAPPED BEFORE.

Ride-A-Bike is one of the best bike shops in NC. I have been a customer for a couple of years. I purchased a Mnt. bike in Feb. 11 it was a great experience. They pay attention to every detail, starting with the style of bike one is looking for to the correct size and fit of the bike. They offer every style of bike from the better quality manufacturers. I buy tools and parts from them for bikes I repair. The employees are very nice people.

I know the rest of my experience will be a great one. I found a bike on craigslist and will be picking it up today. So far service has been great, friendly on the phone and ready to help you out. I finally made a purchase, because he had the exact bike I wanted with some added benefits that I wasnt going to get anywhere else. I have always received fast and courteous service at the store! Brantley has always answered my questions. I bought my bike there when it was in Lincolnton and have followed the store to Gastonia! every business will on occasion have an employee slip up but I know Brantley does not condone such a thing as discourtesy.

Sure was convenient to have Ride-A-Bike in Lincolnton last year. Oh, make no mistake, I still go to RAB its just not as convenient. Congratulations Gastonia, you won a jewell. Shame on you Lincolnton for not fighting to keep them!

I got a good deal on a basic commuter bike, which was what I was looking for. Agree that the owner is a bike snob, as most bike geeks are. Good range of selections and competitive prices. If you need TA, get it elsewhere first.
