I promised employees Kayla and Jennifer I would write this, since I was so impressed by their genuine desire to help me find the pet that was right for me. I am a teacher and came in looking for a rabbit to purchase as a class pet Though they did not carry any, both ladies (who approached me without my having to seek them out) directed me to a kiosk that accessed the animal rescue shelters; they had heard that some of the local shelters had been taking in rabbits. The employees not only pitched in to help me get in touch with the shelter personally, but also gave me thorough directions. I was able to find the shelter in a matter of minutes ("Furry Friends Refuge") and now own a cuddly, well-tempered rabbit, ideal for the classroom environment! I was most impressed by the fact that neither of them pushed me to buy anything; their primary concern was that I find the critter I was looking for. It also says a lot for Petco that they have such a kiosk; I cant help but conclude that they genuinely care for animals. Though buying standard products at a pet store is expensive, I plan on frequenting this location for my pet needs as often as I can!

Took my puppy to the Grooming Salon and the people were so rude. They left her patchy all over, cut some hair on one side of her face but not the other. Long strands of hair in random places (Behind the ear, on her back, on one of her legs). I was told that I would be paying for her to be given a bath, shaved and her nails clipped, they did the first part, lazily did the second and didnt clip her nails at all. If I wanted her hair to be patchy I wouldve shaved her myself, and would have spent the $50 on something else. They called when she was ready FOUR hours later, I told them that my mother would have to pick her up because I was otherwise engaged. They said "Okay" and hung up with no goodbye or even, "That is quite alright, what is her name so we know that we are giving her to the right person?" Nothing. When I got home she told me that they were rude to her as well. I have NEVER had this much trouble at this store until yesterday. Not sure if it was who was working or just how the salon area is. Either way, I will not be returning there.

Took our dogs there to get there nails trimmed. Very unprofessional. Had to wait while the two young girls complained that their schedules were messed up and someone didnt show up for work. Then one of them spent 10mins struggling with one dog without asking for help from the other girl. Finally they tell me my dog "doesnt like his nails trimmed" so they couldnt help us. With our other dog they dropped her trying to get her on the table (even though I warned them she is 85lbs). They got 3/4 her nails clipped. Then cut one too short. At one point they dropped her leash so our dog tried to jump over the gate and they tried to finish with her half hanging out. Total mess.

My dog goes here to get groomed and every time she comes back with something wrong the groomers is already traumatic enough for my poor one eyed dog but when she comes back late because they forgot to call us to pick her up and once she was 3 hours late and came with a scab down her whole neck. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG HERE UNLESS IT IS A LAST RESORT. they are lazy and unitentive. She has come back with A scrape down her whole neck Unexpressed anal glands He privates cut too short And almost 3 hours late and spent the day in a kennel

Use to love this place but its gone downhill younger girls unwilling to help us and hiding around corners so dontt have to help people. When was finally helped got forced to check out not listening that we werent done shopping then ignores us when we say we have a coupon.Better off going to Buffalo rd where Trudy or Tom will bend over backwards for you.Or one better yet Ames to see Cory who use to work Jordan Creek and knows his animals better than back of his hand.

I often go to this Petco in Des Moines. They have educated staff who can help determine which products will work best for your pet. They are always friendly and if someone doesnt have an answer they will find it. Groomers are great, although our dog doesnt require hair trimming, they always do a great job on his bath, teeth, nails, etc. Petco PALS rewards are a great bonus and they price match competitors so you can do all shopping in one place.

The best store for pet care. The staff is very friendly and courteous to me. I have bought lots of crickets from the ones that they keep in the back (you need to ask for assistance to get them, they are not out), and they are the healthiest crickets that you know are good to feed to your pet. They also let me surrender a pet to their store. I love this pet store and highly recommend it over any other pet store that I know of.

The groomers were lovely, but my issue was at the checkout, apparently their registers will not process a card transaction with out a pin, no problem unless your credit card doesnt have a pin number. Manager was super rude about it, I used my debit card that does have a pin without a sorry the inconvenience, we will shop elsewhere.

Had our yorkie bathed and trimmed, wasnt overly impressed with the trimming, they didnt trim the hair between the pads on his feet which I particularly requested or around his privates and other groomers have done a much better job trimming around his eyes, I just feel we pretty much overpaid for a bath and nail clipping

Sold me sick fish on many occasions. I bought 3 plecos and put them in two different aquariums within 3 days all my fish had ick. I ended up loosing 6 fish to it. Also when I go into the store one store clerk tells me one thing and another tells me something else. Very frustrating experience!!!

I was told by another large pet store chain not to bring my dog back because of his behavior. The dog grooming manager at Petco said it wouldnt be a problem. I dont know how they did it but Jax loves being groomed now. They are amazing!

Walked around for over 15 minutes and didnt see a single person to help me. Product hard to find. Employees were not helpful either.
