Waffallonia is DELICIOUS! After waiting for months for a chance to go inside (Im from the South Hills and I rarely find an excuse to visit Murray Avenue), I finally got a chance today after eating lunch across the street. I split a waffle with Speculoos ice cream (Made in-store from a secret recipe the server told us! We were even offered a free sample first before ordering it) and it was worth every penny. I think the waffles would also be by themselves, theyre kinda crunchy and taste like they have honey on them. The shop reminded me of the waffle take-away shops in Brussels (although theres no order window facing the street). My friend, whos never been to Belgium, is now dying to go after he helped me eat this waffle. I also loved the addition of a large map of Belgium painted on the wall, and the really neat menu board is made to look like an European train schedule time table. We were concerned about the limited seating at first, but the server told us the turn-over is quick, and there was indeed a seat free by the time our waffle was ready! I am taking all of my other fiends here immediately. You should go, too! :) And I want to add that the prices are very reasonable, a large take-away cup of coffee was only $1.50, and nothing exceeds $6!

First time we went there, we had checked online beforehand and it said they closed at 10pm. We showed up at 9:30 and there was a hand-written sign in the door saying "closed." I was very angered by this because we were visiting from out of town and leaving the next day. The lights were on, and the girl was still there (we saw her, and she saw us trying to open the door) so I have no idea why she just decided to close up shop early. We tried again the next night, and this time they decided to remain open for the posted number of hours. Waffles were amazing, but still upset about the first attempt.

I walked in yesterday to inquire about the menu...did they do all breakfast all day? (This wouldve been right up my alley) but unfortunately they didnt and I was looking for a complete meal being I had not eaten all day. I told the cashier Id be back since I work down the street. Man o man am I glad I came back! I ordered the Bruces waffle (A sugar waffle topped with strawberries&whipped cream plus this amazing cookie spread! I forget the name) it was made fresh in front of me in a timely manner and the smell wafting outside to inside is heavenly.....I will be back.

I am from Oklahoma City. My sister goes to school in Pittsburgh and my family was visiting her over Memorial Day Weekend. We went to Waffalonia to celebrate my Mothers Birthday and it was great! This is one of my mothers favorite places in Pittsburgh and this trip was excellent. We were there about 30 minutes before closing time, but the employee working that night (Im so sorry I didnt catch his name!) was VERY kind and patient with us while all six of us ordered. The menu is simple the waffles are fresh and tasty. I would definitely suggest this place for a treat!

Freshly made Belgian Waffles with various toppings, and Ice Cream! There are a handful of locations in Pittsburgh, and all of them are a great stop for your sweet tooth. Each waffle is fresh off the griddle, and sweet enough to eat plain. They also whip up their own whipped cream, and have fresh fruit toppings. The Squirrel Hill location is a cozy nook and isnt big on seating, but that encourages you to take your waffle and munch it outside! Nomnomnomnomnom <3

we arrived pretty late but the woman working there was still super pleasant. as the other reviews note, there isnt much for seating so we took ours to go. she was able to package the Dave & Andys ice cream separately and we built our own when we got home. I have never had a waffle like this in my life...its incredible delightful risen dough rather than the flour/water/egg batter you grew up on. youll never want your moms waffles again.

I loved my waffle. I chose the Select Toppings waffle with nutella. All their choices were under $10, but for $10, they were some quality waffles. Servers were nice. There isnt that much space to sit down, but doesnt really matter. I think I saw flies in there, but I didnt see any near the cooking area. Nice place, I would say. Just watch out for those flies.

Be careful these sweet waffles are slightly addicting. I never had a Liège waffle before coming here but I have to think that these are the best in the world. Decent prices, fast and friendly service. The only downside is that the seating area is tight. It would not accommodate a large crowd. But you eat these so fast that the turnover is fairly quick.

Fantastic place for Belgian sugar waffles. They not only have waffles that they make fresh on site, but also a variety of toppings and configurations that you can order for your waffle, including fruit or ice cream, just to name a few. Just be warned though, there isnt exactly much seating in this place to begin with so dont come with a big group

Pretty solid sugar waffles that are hard to fine anywhere else in the area. The sugary dough is different from waffles that you would find in stores or at many diners. Depending on how much sweetness you want, you may find a waffle with no toppings sufficiently good; or if youre up for it, go ahead and indulge on the ice cream, nutella, or fruit!

Freshly made liege waffles (sweeter and lighter than the ones served with brunch) with all sorts of toppings, including speculaas (aka cookie butter) ice cream, strawberries, whipped cream, Nutella, bananas, and right now pumpkin spread. Highly recommended combo: pumpkin spread, speculaas ice cream, and whipped cream. Open late.

My family and I had Liege waffles for the first time in Columbus, Ohio but were looking for a place closer to home. Waffallonia was the perfect place! Their new space is very nice and the waffles are always delicious. Its a perfect place to take out of town guests for a quick and delicious bite.

Tried the Liege (plain waffle) on three separate days, will get them again next time I visit. These waffles are yeasty, with pockets of granulated sugar that caramelize on the griddle. Good stuff. Stopping in can take two or twenty minutes, there is just single person serving everyone.

Cant stop thinking about the waffle with Speculoos sauce! I had it for the first time Monday and have been craving it ever since. It is so delicious as the biscoff cookies that make up the Speculoos melt into the fluffy light waffle! Amazing!

Cute walk up counter shop with a tasty limited menu. NOT authentic Belgian waffles (if youve ever had a real one from Belgium!), but still tasty esp with strawberries and whip! A good choice esp if the line at pamelas next door is too long.

DELICIOUS! We came on a weeknight and it wasnt too busy. The service was excellent, the store was clean, and the waffle was wonderful! I would highly recommend stopping in if youre ever in the Squirrel Hill area of Pittsburgh.

Place is a little hole in the wall, waffles were excellent, no real atmosphere, very few choices of toppings and they were OUT OF BELGIAN HOT COCOA. When you only have like 10 menu choices, stock them appropriately.
