Terrible. Ive always liked this petco, understanding that sometimes things cannot be well kept all the time. This is the pet business after all, things get messy, its life.. However I went in yesterday and I was horrified. In the comet goldfish tank, there were two piles of dead fish. One pile was obviously decayed, gray and white and basically colorless, with the other fish feeding on the dead bodies. In another pile were freshly dead fish with other dying fish lying on top; the entire pile was the size of my fish. I took pictures but my phone wont let me put them up. It was awful. To top it off, a gerbil was alone in his little tank with no toys and no food. He was gnawing on his tipped over wheel out of, what I assume was, boredom. These are animals, yall, jeez. Step it up. Take care of animals, thats pretty much your job isnt it? Im so disappointed. Until that gets whipped into shape, I doubt Ill be shopping here.

I have taken my dog Nessie there since they have opened. I dont ever use a specified groomer. She is a Jack-Rat and I get her bathed, nails , glands expressed, teeth brushed, ect. She has always came out looking great and since she doesnt hesitate about going in, I assume they are very nice to her! Last time she went we added a de-shed brushing (not sure about the name) but it worked great. Very little shedding this month! It works! Will definitely add that to her grooming from now on! I have read some of the chain reviews about Petco, but this one at The Grove in Hoover is a great place to have your pet groomed! Dottie Chambers, Hoover, Al.

They "groomed" my dog... I was surprised when they told me he tried to bite, and they charged a $10 "handling fee", which has never happened in the dozens of times my dog has been groomed. They also burnt his skin with their clipper blades, and his hair wont grow back where it happened. It looks terrible, and is a constant reminder of the cruel woman who did this. The groomer, a taller woman with dark hair and tattoos (just so you will know who she is), was also very rude to us in general. I have told everyone about this, and I hope someones reading this will prevent another person from going what we went through here.

Given these horrible reviews I would have never had my dog groomed here. However I also noticed that these reviews were years ago. Apparently they cleaned house because Ive gotten the best service here and Tara, the groomer, is the best groomer Ive ever dealt with! She does and amazing job and I trust my dog with her. That being said if you give this place a second try, you will see a huge difference and by all means take your dog or cat to Tara. ...you can trust her and your dogs will love her!

They refused to groom my dog because he was matted. That was why I needed him groomed in the first place. They also made me feel like a horrible pet owner for letting my dog get matted. They didnt ask anything on the phone when I made the appointment except what kind of dog I had. I could have told them on the phone that my dog was matted, and I wouldnt have wasted a whole Saturday on Petco when they wouldnt groom him anyway. I will not be back there.

I just read the reviews on this business, and I fell compelled to write my own review. Every time I go in, they are very helpful. I have had employees help me in all of the areas... dog food, fish, and crickets for our reptile. The customer service is outstanding, they have provided coupons for me when I have forgotten mine, and refunded my money when I got a bad bag of dog food. I love this store and the employees!

I honestly dont care for the place. I think the cages they keep for the animals are not up to standards, and there prices are why to high for the quality of animals they give you. I think they do have good products here, but the prices again are a little high for my liking. I would not recommend buying a pet from here.

Ive have gotten my dog groomed there for years. Love their grooming department and the service we receive there. Ashley does such a great job on my Westie. His fur gets matted easily but she always fixes him right up! And appointments are so easy to come by.

The customer service was very poor. The employee asked me if I needed help and then didnt really help me. I felt like he didnt really want to be bothered. Not much of a selection either. Will go to Pet Supplies Plus from now on.

I have been to this Petco many times. The employees are very friendly. I buy some of my cat food supplies from them. Their prices are higher than other discount stores but they have a greater variety of cat food and supplies.

They do an excellent job grooming our dog, fast and friendly service at a very reasonable price. Make sure your pets shots are current and make an appointment, weve never been able to just walk in for grooming.

Nasty! The smell that hits your nose as soon as you walk in. Poor animals, the cages are filthy! I walked in and walked right back out.
