Cannot ethically bring myself to return to this store after what Ive heard about it. The owners mistreat both their animals AND their employees and Im honestly shocked to hear it. I used to come to this store all the time, but after speaking to an employee I saw shopping at Petco, I just cant anymore. The owner doesnt allow employees to take care of his breeder snakes, but doesnt take care of them himself. Theyre left in filthy tubs, sometimes going days without water, and live rodents are left in the tubs UNATTENDED for long periods of time. The employee said sometimes the rodents even die of thirst/hunger and stink up the back room.... I cant imagine how many snakes are injured from this. Rats can kill snakes!!! I havent been in the store for about a month now, but from how well taken care of the display reptiles were I never would of guessed what was going on in the back. They also apparently have employee walk-outs regularly because they are abusive and unprofessional towards them. And they recently fired staff members for complaining about their treatment. I usually like shopping local businesses, but I cant support a place that bullies its employees. I dont know if the employees sign some kind of confidentiality agreement so Im not using names or pronouns to describe the person who told me. Needless to say, my mother and I were both horrified and will take our business elsewhere from now on. We can find dubia roaches for our lizards online for cheaper anyway! Do NOT shop at this store!

We typically shop for our pet supplies here because its locally owned but after a number of mixed experiences i believe we will take our shopping elsewhere. My 82 yr old mother tried to return a heat lamp that didnt work but she didnt have a receipt so the cashier told her she would, understandably, need the receipt. She left and returned a few days later and was then told she was over the time allotted for returns. I can understand the issue but it was the same cashier! We are only talking about $20 but it seems like she could have worked with us considering she knew the backround. Just too many bad experiences vs. not enough good

Their tarantula care is horrible. They absolutely need to hire someone who knows what theyre doing. Arboreal species kept in terrestrial enclosures. Cobalts with no substrate, not to mention someone wanted to sell said Cobalt to a ten year old--The only spider sold with a bite that will put you in the hospital marketed to a child. Red knees with misted substrate. And an employee recommended a heat mat for a G. porteri. I can look past not knowing gender or age of the T, but if you arent equipped to properly care for the animal, you dont buy them.

Ive had mixed experiences here. It seems that the staff doesnt receive the same training but will still give advice. I have a chameleon and was recommended some things that were not correct. Luckily, I figured it out in time. However, if you can find someone that has the knowledge, they are great. Always helpful. I just wish they would admit if they arent knowledgeable. If you are going in for one of their more popular pets, dont hesitate. If you have something more rare, do your research.

I have a columbian red tail boa constrictor and this is the only store in KC that I have found to sell live food. They are reasonably priced and very helpful. Everytime I have been in the store it was clean and well stocked. I love this pet store and would not go anywhere else for my pet needs! I also dont know what the "stinky" review is all about. I am in once a week for rats and have never seen anything like they describe. Someone is sadly mistaken.

Awesome reptile room but staff doesnt offer to help and no public bathroom? Really this is 2016 get you stuff together the next closest business is over 100 yards away and you dont have a restroom for customers. What a joke. My toddler has to go when she has to go next time I should just prop her over the bunny cage and let her go. Lost my business and a few hundred dollars that day because they didnt have a bathroom what a joke.

What a wonderful retailer! I was running behind and called with a large favor- to have them possibly stay open later (as I would have arrived 5 min after closing). They responded with "absolutley" most certainly stayed open later for me, had my pet food ready at the counter and told ME thank you after I kept them past their traditional hours. I will be a lifelong customer! Exemplary guest service for sure. Thank YOU!!!

We have made this place our only resource for our dog and gecko needs. Mark and the rest of the staff always have excellent customer service in mind. One evening, my daughter and I did not know that they have been closed for a half hour and we needed some crickets for Bailey our leopard gecko. Instead of turning us away, she gladly invited us in and took care of us. These are the little things that people remember.

Where did their regular staff go?? All the nice ladies that were knowledgeable and remembered your animals used to be a personal experience there. That whole staff is gone and replaced by children that know nothing. We stopped going there all together and wont give another dimension to this buisness. The new staff is rude lazy uneducated about anything in the store. I now shop online or other stores all together.

Ive been to every local fish store in the Greater Kansas City area. and I keep going back to Miles. There store is very clean, the staff is very nice and they have a lot of returning Customers witch is nice to see. They have always been helpfull. say hello. never snooty like some other Local Pet stores. I will always return to them. Just a over all nice people who acually care about there customers.

Who puts a Betta thats already in a container, in a bag and let the bag fall over, possibly harming the fish? Also the employees dont ask details when helping, thus me wasting my money. Yes the take better care of their animals, but they dont help or handle them well. Oh and while I was there with my girlfriend and friend, my girlfriend said the frogs did not look healthy.

Love this store. They have everything exotic and some small domestic pets too. Staff is extremely knowledgable. I call or stop in for all my questions. Prices are very reasonable especially when you know the quality of the reptile, fish or animal youre getting has been cared for so much. They are the only store in town that carries Dubia Roaches for our Bearded Dragon too.

Love this store. We drive all the way from Lees Summit. Great selection on fish, their prices on fish are a little higher than the big box stores, but I have bought several and have never lost one, definitely worth the extra investment. Also great selection on bird food and toys. They are actually cheaper on their Zupreem than anywhere else. Its very much worth the drive!

i liked this pet store alot and have used it a dozen times until today... the reptiles look great and so did everything else except the overstocked angelfish tank and the million hamsters that are overcrowded and killing each other. They had holes in their ears and a couple with bite sores all over their bodies. i will NEVER use this store again!
