The prices are unreasonable, the lines are always a pain in the ass, and the wait only brings you incredibly rude service. The employees at Winco are far more respectful and Winco prices are so much more affordable. And of course the Arcata COOP has the sweetest employees and occasional great deals. The prices at Murphys and Wildberries are comparable, but the service exceeds. I would NOT recommend this store. What drove me off the edge to write this post was the store manager with the tatts on his forearms, he had a really distasteful attitude and was condescending. I forgot my safeway card and he decided to push me off the line. I didnt mind waiting off until my husband sent me our card number but he wouldnt let me get the groceries(bread and a bag of chips) to get back in line. Insinuating I was stealing? Idk. Either way he was telling me to shop for those same items again then return to line. My family will never shop at this store again.

Ive been to this store 50+ times. I also used to work for Safeway as well, and know their rules/regulations, which are seemingly ignored here. The lines are outragous, the staff fails to call produce to check when needed, and they all move slower than molasses. At my old store if we had more than 3 people in line we called for more checkers. Here they have 10 customers in line and still dont call for help or move any faster. Ive come into this store and shopped for 45 minutes and there will be lines into the food isles the whole time. Only good thing is its Safeway, so theres selection and decent prices. Would have been 1 star, but they have a single stellar employee named Zach who earned them a star by himself with a consistent helpful and great attitude.

A Private User

They recently underwent a face-lift and it did little to change the atmosphere. The selection is smaller than previous and there is less room in the store (?). The meat market section leaves much to be desired and is not restocked or rotated often enough. Everything is precut prior to arriving at the store. I will not purchase any fish here. It is not fresh and the people working there know little or nothing about meat or seafood. Customer service is decent.

A Private User

The beef here is tasteless. It has no marbling, I do most of my shopping at this store but have to go elsewhere for beef. Also have to go elsewhere for some groceries that they stopped stocking. Snyders pretzels. RC Cola., Even 4 cup coffee maker filters are off their shelves. The employees at this store are friendly and helpful. They make their customers feel welcome.

Ive been shopping here for a while. The prices are okay, they stay well-stocked on all the products I like, and the staff are friendly. Their bathrooms tend to have problems with maintenance and/or cleanliness, and are not open at night, when I do most of my shopping.

Your basic Safeway. The staff arent nice most of the time because there is so much theft at this location. At least thats what it seems. decent hot food selection and has the basic necessities. For Arcata, safeway is about as corporate food production as it gets.

Great location however always so under staffed. Lines are tremendous even during slow times. The cashier named Zack is so amazing and such a wonderful employee. The employees they do have are fast friendly and great people. Just need to hire some more.

Because my cashier put my eggs on the bottom of my bag and jars and cans on top of everything. Overall ok, lines werent terrible long and relatively quiet.

Lines are often long and food selections are often limited to major brands. Co-Op and Murphys have comparable prices and a wider range of local foods.
