All I wanted to do was a Western Union. I waited at the customer service desk for about 7 mins with an elderly lady behind me (and since she complained to the manager, I decided on a review.) I watched around 6 or 7 employees walk right by me, look at me, no smile, no "can I help you?", nothing. Mind you, its 9:15 and slow. So I walked over to the nearest lady at register 3 and asked, with a smile, if I could get help at customer service for a WU, I told her very nicely that me and another lady were waiting over there for a lil while, to which she replied, "well no ones ever stationed there, you have to come ask someone at a register, but Ill call now." She said this with an attitude that made me feel like an idiot for not knowing this and waiting all that time. No apology, and again no smile, or friendly tone. Then when I was finally being helped by another lady, I started off the convo, "so, hows your day going so far?" She didnt look up from her computer when I asked, and in a very snippy tone said "alright." Again, no "how are you?" Or "its going good, thank you." I am baffled. Why am I the one giving good customer service? I am the nicest kind of customer you can come across, Ive worked retail for years and know that a simple smile and a nice comment can make someones day in customer service, but apparently my sweetness didnt hold any ground and was completely obliterated. :( Ive never even written a review on Google before, but I just could not believe the "service" I got here April 4th, 9-10am. Oh yeah, and it took a half hour for the lady to process my WU transfer, but that was not why I made this review. With how our economy is, there are plenty of people out there that would gladly take their jobs and happily service customers as they should be, with a smile. Lastly, I dont know her name, but the lady with extremely long, straight hair was so sweet and made my experience with the others bareable. She needs a raise.

I do live here locally and know never to walk in as every time the service and employees are less than average. but for my lack of judgment that day I went in again. I was in a rush so I simply wanted to grab an orange. Everyone but one checker was busy so I went over. As her phone was more important to me she finally puts the phone down complaining about how her texts won’t send. 10-15 seconds later she gets to the orange. It rings up as a grapefruit and it was small I guess as I thought I grabbed the right one. We discussed that I grabbed the wrong fruit and needed an orange and instead of calling someone or trying to resolve the issue she stares at me with a blank face and asks me if I still want to buy it anyways. And just stared. So I suggested that maybe I go get the Orange. Still staring at me I grabbed the orange and ran to produce. I then asked an employee in Produce where an orange might be as I am obviously blind today. In a stationary position as if he couldn’t move. He sits and points in the direction they are in. Rather than move five feet he’s stuck. Laughing at the laziest set of employees I am just drawn to the conclusion that this Has to be a manager’s fault. As I have had this same experience every time I walk into this store. Its dirty, the employees are preoccupied, and they obviously do not want my money. I will continue to boycott and encourage everyone I know to never shop at this store. FYI I was a Safeway employee for two years and no one in our store would of ever treated a customer in this manner and maybe that’s why I am so offended. As this location has the lowest standards I have ever seen in my life.

Good produce, good deli, decent prices, friendly staff, check-out is the only downer but it is pretty bad almost every time I spend as much or more time in check-out as I do shopping. Of course I am kinda focused on speed (l dont actually enjoy grocery shopping). So if that doesnt matter to you its fine, we should all be more patient anyway. Seriously though I have had 20 minute+ check-outs in this Safeway and yet I find myself in here every once in a while for no explicable reason...always I am surprised LOL.

Clean store but the employees werent very friendly or helpful. I dont know if Id go back. I was ignored at the sandwich deli (wondered if maybe they werent open but the sign said they open at 6 am). Went to look at what sandwiches they had in the premade case but none looked like they were worth the money. Watched another gentleman get ignored at the deli area and he walked away also. When I went through check out I was not greeted in any way just told my total.

Thank you Safeway for your correct enforcement of the ADA law regarding SERVICE DOGS!!! We are so sick of seeing people abusing the ADA law with their horrible UNTRAINED "comfort" dogs! I love shopping at Safeway, but even more after seeing your Service Animal sign. My husband is a disabled Vietnam veteran. It is a disservice to him and all other disabled people to allow NON service animals in a business. THANK YOU!!!

I went in to buy shampoo, conditioner and q tips, as my wife and I were staying in a hotel nearby. I did not have a Safeway card so the initial ringup was over 23 dollars. I was shocked. It wasnt until I expressed my opinion about the prices that she offered to get me a Safeway card and save me over 10 dollars. The predatory pricing between card holders and non card holders is ridiculous.

I agree with the with an earlier assessment that Safeway has gone to seed, this particular store being a prime example. I stopped in early one morning before work and no cashiers to be found. I also somewhat miss the Chinese cuisine aspect of the deli, and also note that most Safeways have Starbucks now, which this one does not. Is this meant to be a "B" or even "C" store?

I really like this store most the time the staff is friendly. Been coming here for years with no problems till today. The woman in the meat department was very rude first bumps into me doesnt say a word then I jokingly say hey you forgot you 50 percent off machine and she snapped back at me saying no I didnt and walked away. I didnt like the attitude.

Went to the deli to get some chicken for next day fishing trip. Nobody was there. A manager-type employee was checking out a customer who said the deli person was on break, would be back in 5 minutes. Waited about 10 minutes, went to look for more help and everybody ignored me. Left and went to fred meyer.

Since the remodel last year this store is the only place I shop in three towns! The new manager keeps it clean like never before. It is just the right size, has great customer service and always has multiple check stand open. Worth the drive down the coast!

I went to the newport safeway at around 6 pm the outside of the store was very dark . The lighting was eather burned out or just old and not working right it was not safe i will not be back at nighttime till thay are fixed
