My family just glowed, when, after a harrowing 10 hour drive, we spotted a Safeway around supper time. The inside of this Holy Grail of stores, was warm and a relief after the raging weather that had beaten us all day. My two childrens eyes widened as we passed the bakery where row upon row of cakes decorated the shelves, as resplendent as royalty, and crescent-shaped rolls and pastries chock-full of jelly flanked the parade like guards in full uniform. Unfortunately, we had to pass this mind boggling assortment of baked goods to the "healthier " section of the store, as my wife put it. However, as we rounded the pristine shelf of the bread isle we were greeted with yet another entourage, perhaps the royal children, all white and clean and soft in their protective milk cartons marching along the icebox shelfs. Further along, a deli beckone us with a mouthwatering assortment of salads and sanwiches, frills of lettuce putting me in the mind of Olympic winners with laurel leaves. After we had made our respective choices, in spite of our ravenous state it was a hard choice because of the store full of likely candidates, we headed to the cashier who greeted us with a bright smile, and engaged all of us, including my children, in an engaging conversation as we purchased our items and sent us off with a kind wave as we left. All in all, I recommend this store highly and encourage you to visit.

Just stopped by your Crescent City CA.95531 store for a sandwich. I waited until everyone had been helped and I was next. the guy in front of me that was having a sandwich made walked away to get something else. The next cashier finished with her and said "can I help you to a lady that was just walking up. She proceeded to make her sandwich and I still didnt get helped.I waited in front of both counters and never got helped...The deli help needs to ask who is next ...or check if someone is being helped already before taking someone just walking up... I left your store still hungry!

This store has always seemed lacking in personnel, the cashiers are almost always working frantically trying to keep up with customers that are checking out. And if you need help with an item in an isle, its been my experience, thats next to impossible. Twice even though I had pressed the button for service from the butcher, someone from customer service had to get them for us. And their Pharmacy is way under staffed to be sure, cause they rarely have your Rx ready when they said they would.

This place has terrible customer service managing the large amount of customers and the lines are always extremely long. The managers seemed to not have a problem with that. Also, they have a discount on milk that expires day of, and only give off 50 cents, which tricked me to believe it was 50% off, a more likely discount to me. If only this town had another grocery store worthy of a good rating with decent prices.

Cashier on register 1 told me and the people in line behind me that we needed to leave and get in line at a different register after we waited 10 minutes in line with her light on and turned it off right as I got to the front saying that she needed to clock out rudely and that is not how you give customer service she should have tuned her light out and finished who ever was in line before that.

Everyone who works there is helpful, friendly and has a smile. The produce section is spacious, clean and well stocked. I almost always find what Im looking for, even some of the more hard to find items I would generally have to get from a specialty store. In comparison, Walmarts produce section is almost always under stocked and just try to find someone to assist you!

My PREFERRED place to purchase groceries. Staff is friendly and helpful (example: just the other day, Richard ran all over the store looking for Cool Whip before retrieving it from the freezer for me. THANKS!) Quality and selection is better than discount stores. And any issue I might have (longer lines, no grocery bags) is not uncommon among the other businesses.

We love stopping at Safeways when on a road trip. Our family of 6 fans out and everyone buys what we need for the next few day of camping. Usually, we end up with an impromptu feast in the parking lot or in a nearby park. In the case of Crescent City we found ourselves next to he harbor docks in a public gazebo. Very nice.

They are the only place to get certain things in the area so four stars for being there when we needed you. Big plus is that the people who work there at least on our visit are super friendly and helpful. Small meat dept and a few other weirdness issues because of size and place but glad they were there altogether.

Staff helpful, no jack in the box or bag ,great snack usually on end caps at my Meijer Thrifty Acres in the midwest. And an attack dog a about gave me a heart attack as it went nuts behind me. I figure a local thug cop playing with his 4 legged weapon. Why they were cruising the entrance is unknown.

Dont go here without a membership even if you live 3000 miles away. The store wont use a store card for the discounts. Locals (non workers) are very nice though. Also aisles are small with tons of crap in them could barely navigate to store without a cart. Had to wait for people a number of times.

Great produce section, nice bakery, and gorgeous cut flowers. But higher prices on most items than their local competition and the local homeless population hang out at the doors. There is always a line and empty checking lanes which can be frustrating.

I would agree that the staff is friendly but waiting in line for 2 items for 15 minutes is ridiculous. They have not updated to self checkout and each time I have been there, there is a long line. If they dont update, I will not go in there anymore.

If there was a way to give zero stars, i would give that. Horrible customer service and ncompetent employees. Wont be back.... fortunately, just visiting so no worries!!!! I would go the extrai miles to Brookings to avoid scuzville!!!!

The lines are long the bakery is filthy. I will never shop here again. Safeways prices are almost DOUBLE than that for the same product at Walmart. If looking for an unpleasant shopping experience, this is your place.

Its ok nothing standout. Part of town I dont want to be in. Selection is mediocre but there is a deli so that could be handy. Prices are more than winco or Walmart but the same as any other Safeway or Albertsons.

The clerk was very helpful when I wasnt a savings member and let me use someone elses savings card to help me save money. Im from out of town and dont have a Safeway in my area.

Its a great place as far as shopping goes a lot smaller then wal mart so quicker in and out. Only down fall is that there is always a wait since theres never enough cashiers
