Wendy is a GODSEND!! She spent time helping us find alternatives for our dogs aggressive behavior when our dog is outside. We went into Petsmart with frayed emotions wanting to find a shock collar to stop the aggression, but with an honest review from Wendy she suggested a few products that we think will really help! She suggested trying some calming collars, Licks brand calming packets, and getting a new dog lead to help turn the snout of our dog if she acts like she will bite while we are walking her. I am so very grateful for her help and knowledge. Let me just say our dog is super sweet in our home, but can be aggressive towards other dogs when she is outside. Wendy suggested seeing a pet behaviorist as an option as well--which we will be looking into if needed after trying these products. I am so thankful for her kind spirit and helpfulness! If you need an expert to help you find the right items, ask for Wendy! I wish I could hug her right now. Wendy, if you are reading this--thank you so very much for all of your help! You really are a godsend, and I cant say "thank you" enough!!!

Bought 3 neon tetras. One day later, 1 was dead and the other 2 had white spots (probably Ich). Several days later, brought the dead fish back to Petsmart Ankeny to return it- I noticed that at least 2/3 of the dozens of neon tetras in the tank had white spots. They were all still for sale; no "Quarantine" signs like Petco does if they get sick fish. The employee who had to look at my dead fish to authorize the refund, looked at it and said, "What did you do to it?" (implying its all my fault that its dead). She asked if I wanted an exchange or a refund. Obviously, I took a refund rather than another sick fish. Oh, and since their tanks are hooked up to share water between multiple tanks, theyre probably going to have a lot more infected fish sold than just neon tetras.

They lost one of our dogs records after he was just groomed there one month ago. They did not give the courtesy call saying they needed the records again so my husband brought both dogs and was told they could only groom one dog since the others records were missing. They offered no compensation or "discount" or future. I talked to assistant manager, Kara, and she offered nothing. Said I could call in Saturday morning to talk to Manager. We wont be using them again. Customer service is extremely poor! (had to give one star because they made you pick one)

The grooming hair cuts are a joke and we wont be returning. We have had 4-5 different people groom our dog and each time the hair cuts are lackluster. This time was our last. The man that did the groom cut our dogs ear and its bloody. Also, when we were waiting in line he was working on a poodle that yelped/screamed loudly. Not sure what happened there. There are long pieces of hair hanging between my dogs back legs. Not a great place to go if you want quality work done.

Not very friendly/ helpful managers. Adopted my kitten from here on Sunday and was not only given false information, but then a few days after I took her home she had a bacterial infection and has been to the vet 3 times since. I have called at least 3 times asking to speak to a manager and not one of the people Ive talked to has helped me or seemed interested in my concerns. I wont be adopting another pet from here nor will I shop here.

We are usually happy with our yorkies haircut. But this time it seemed rushed and there were a lot of missed hairs. Also, I didnt request his nails to be cut. They cut them anyways. The next thing I know his paw was bleeding. I believe his toenail was cut too short. It has now fallen off (nail) and have to take him to the vet for pain meds and to get checked out. I will not be back to Pet Smart for grooming.

This is a great place to do dog training with Wendy she is the best person and trainer I have a German Shepard that was abused and so was I so I took her in and worked with her and she was doing great but had a issue with being afraid of big dogs and barking at them but with Wendys help she now has a lot of dog friends and I can walk her down the street with out her barking thanks Wendy your the best

Have never had a bad experience here. We get our TDI dog Fox groomed here, easy to drop him off on the way to work and pick him up after. Theyve never made a mistake with us. Friendly staff. I made the mistake of trying Petco in Ames because they were closer (we live in Boone) NEVER AGAIN!! Beyond awful. Horrible grooming, horrible staff, we learned our lesson, its Pet Smart forever for us!

They never have anything you need in Ankeny IA location terrible store I was looking to spend 400$ on a tank set up that they said they had I drove clear out to Ankeny IA to find there isnt even one on the shelf....the employees are have no knowledge of anything really they just look around when asking questions shouldnt you have people working that know about animals sense it is a pet store

First time I went they were super busy and I was unable to get help for 20min. 2nd time I went they were a little less busy but I went to buy hermit crabs and they were completely out and one was still in the tank dead. 3rd time they were not busy at all and I got everything I needed. But having more staff would help because I was wondering the store looking for things for a while

I love to take my Black Lab, German Shepherd mix to the grooming salon. The employees are knowledgeable, courteous, and Chloe absolutely loves them. As soon as we enter the store, she starts directly for the salon. They treat every animal as if it were their own. I cant say enough about the excellent level of service in the pet salon and throughout the store.

Something has changed.... frequently out of stock of the same items ALL the time, never reorder even when asked. Staffing has changed and it is now typical to not find someone for assistance for at least 15-20 minutes. Store is dirtier as well. We have been coming here for years and have been disappointed for the past 6 months or so.

Worst customer service in the groomers Ive ever experienced in my life, uneducated staff, will NEVER take my dog back there again. Scheduled appointment 5 times with them and spoke to manager every time we went in there only to be told we werent scheduled ugh. Obviously they dont want my business. They are all hacks.

great place nice staff but the no nothing of the animals and the fish to need to be taken care of better and the reptiles need to be placed in better condition not all but the anoles and long tail lizards everything else is good the birds look lovely and happily 24/7

Theyy did not have the items i needed ,that could only be found at a pet crnter,which is whatg theyh are,yey no one knew ther item i needed.i drove 33 miles further to competitor PETCO in Ames and thery not only knew the item,they had it on the shelf. I bought it!
