Worst grooming experience I have ever had! First off the groomer did not know how to cut a Border Collies hair, she tried to make him look like a lion. She was rude, condescending and management was equally as bad. I had taken my dog there in December and a different groomer had done an excellent job. She said she charged us $60 because he had some sort of special bath to make him smell extra good. Well, I told this person I did not want the special bath, just the regular bath was good enough, well it was still $60! Then when he wasnt groomed correctly she said bring him back, but when I did, they said they didnt have time to groom him. Worst experience ever. Even though Ankeny is quite a ways away, Pet Smart has always done a great job and will be worth the trip. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS HERE FOR GROOMING!!

There service depends on whos working. I have gone in there and had fantastic service in both grooming and store areas but other times I have not been able to find anyone to help me or encountered a rude employee (on the phone with the grooming department). I try to see the best in everyone but i called someone and was put on hold today, she was being a little bit snotty with her answers to my simple questions and was hung up on before i even finished talking, saying thanks for your time. Other times i just dont know if they cant find enough employees but I have gone in to the store and cant hardly find anybody. Otherwise I have gone in and asked questions and received help and have had fantastic encounters with the employees at Petco.

Went there today to get some dog food. It wasnt on the shelf so I asked if they had it in back. The first girl (who was stocking shelves) told me they just got a truck in today and they were short staffed and couldnt check but I could ask the manager. He told me that they had a truck come in yesterday (sunday) and if it wasnt on the shelf then they didnt have it. Obviously they didnt want to take time to look. I went to Pet Smart where they were very friendly and helpful I will be taking my business there from now on.

Dont go here if you need anything with fish. The employees here dont know the difference between a goldfish and a koi. If they are determined to charge you 3x the price for a GOLDFISH, who knows what else they would do. The selection choices are pitiful, and the employees are clueless. Id rather drive to the nearest petsmart than put up with it. Good luck to those aquarium lovers out there.

I love Petco, and so does my dog! Tonight I went with my friends to pick out their new cat they were adopting and Ive had the best experience. The staff were so helpful and gave us some coupons to help with the supply expenses. The store leader was a phenomenal lady that treated us so well. Thank you to the employees who were so kind and helpful, you all really made it a wonderful experience.

One of the employees (brunette with long hair and glasses) was particularly rude today. I have been in several times and had mixed experiences. I think part of a pet store is educating people, particularly children. When you are doing that, a non-condescending attitude works best and could have led to the purchase of a larger aquarium today had the sales person been more agreeable.

I brought my dog in to be groomed. They had me come at 10 am then put my dog in a kennel for 2 hours before working on him. I hung around and shopped for the 2 hrs. I wont return because my dog has been there twice and now hes afraid to go in the car thinking we are returning. I think that the first lady to groom him was too rough with him.

Zeus loves checking out the Petcos, he feels important when he can come inside a store with me and even more so when the store has so many treats at Zeus head level. This one was clean and on par with Petcos usual level of quality and friendliness. Will shop there again.

Tons of pets in the store and quite a few products in terms of food and supplies for pets. The animals arent always the best taken care of. Some are in cages that are way smaller than they should be for the animal it contains. Staff is usually nice and helpful.

The groomer didnt listen to any of our requests and our poor puppy had marks everywhere from the blade they used, they also shaved some spots way to short and tried to cover it up. Dont recommend for grooming. Way overpriced as well.

The aquatics department is plagues with unhealthy fish, and they try to wiggle out of returning/exchanging the fish when the poor health of their fish leads to casualties. This store is in dire need of a change of leadership.

My wife & I did not get good service here a couple of times. People dont appear happy to work there when we visited. If it was one bad visit, no big deal, but two in a row, we will now use Amazon & other places for our pets.

I had a great time at Petco I happened to come in a half hour before closing time and the guy that helped me had his Doctrine in marine biology and his knowledge was unbelievable he sold me the best fish

Staff is truly great! We take cats in from our local shelter for adoption events and they are so helpful and accommodating. Thank you from all the cats who found homes because of Petco!

salt water aquarium section is very limited, actual aquariums are not well maintained and need some care. Live salt water fishes and corals are struggling in the tanks.
