Im guessing that the name "Furniture Stupid-store" was already taken when they opened this place. It was either dumb luck or bad luck, but somehow I ended up buying a sleeper sofa at this not-so-super store. Now I may not be the smartest guy in the world, but I have yet to be outsmarted by a sofa. I understand that once you add the word "sleeper" to a sofa it changes the whole dynamic, allowing both sitting and laying down. I am also fully aware of the leaps and bounds that have been made in sofa technology over the years; imagine if Lincolns couch had cup holders and a cooler, he may have never gone to that theater. These things however, are not for me. I decided to keep things simple and ordered the same upholstery and size as the showroom model, after this there was only one variable: the mattress. The sales associate was a nice man who explained the virtues of an Earthcare Visco Sleeper mattress as opposed to the standard innerspring, and we were sold. The nice man who was accepting payment for our sofa noticed that our first receipt did not specify the Visco mattress upgrade (It did of course reflect the price increase.), so after some trial and error he was able to print up our very specific order. Home we went, back to our loveseat that was good for nothing more than sitting, and here we stayed for the next three weeks. The anticipation was almost unbearable; when that couch came I was going to sit until I could sit no more, and after that I would unfurl the mighty Visco mattress and sleep the good sleep. The day had finally come, our loveseat exiled to the far side of the room, the truck was on the way. The possibilities seemed endless, I could sleep wherever I wanted. I was brimming with confidence, after all, what could go wrong? The delivery crew was very good and had my sofa in place in no time. The moment I had been waiting for was here, slowly the couch was being opened like a butterfly emerging from the cocoon. Joy quickly turned to disappointment as I soon realized this butterfly was a moth. I was hoping that I was wrong, but as my hand felt the hard springs I wondered to myself " How can this be?". It was like I had ordered a new car and the passenger seat had been replaced by a folding lawn chair. The delivery man called the store and I was told that they would call me when my new mattress arrived. Meanwhile the mattress I had was wrapped up in plastic and folded back into the sofa; it reminded me of the scene in "Raiders of The Lost Ark" when the Ark is locked away forever in the giant warehouse. I tipped the delivery men and they were off, thinking I would see them soon with my new mattress. Surely if I called the "Superstore" they could tell me when my new mattress would arrive, surely I was mistaken. The woman who answered the phone assured me that they were "sorry" and that they had left a message at the factory. When I asked if there was any time frame she said "no", but it would probably be less than the time I waited for the sofa (3 weeks). The England furniture factory must be a fine place to work, apparently they have Friday off. I guess it would make more sense if England furniture was made in England, I could see how boat delivery could take some time. It has been six days since the woman at the "Superstore" gave me no useful information, perhaps in this strong economy high priced furniture is practically flying out the door. Until I get the call I will be sitting (not laying down) on my high priced, plastic wrapped mistake; courtesy of the Furniture Superstore.

Deceptive, underhanded, fraudulent, you get the idea. The last reviewer that said sit for brains and furniture stupid store only touched the tip of the iceburg. I bought a bunkbed and new mattresses for my boys. Looking forward to getting my 3 and 5 year olds into new beds. Told the sales guy we didnt want the floor model. We (wife and I) wanted new bed frames and new mattresses. We would wait to have the new items shipped. Thats why you go to a new furniture store right. Get the call the items are in. I go to pick them up and the front desk girl tells me the warehouse guys have put it together and taken it back apart to make sure it fits and isnt "racked" from shipping. Ya right. I go over to where the display is and the warehouse guys are packing the frame and stuffing the floor model mattresses into NEW mattress bags. And, they ask is this for you! I tell them NO, I ordered and paid for new furniture and mattresses. I go to find the office girl and shes on the phone being told the bed I ordered was sold to somebody else and I was to be given the floor model. AND, the manager told her it was OK to give me the floor model mattresses. If I had not seen what they where doing they would have given me used furniture and mattresses that have been who knows where and what on them with out telling me. She told me when I got there to go wait at the warehouse door and they would "load me up." Best she could do is applolgize and tell me again the manager said this was OK. Well, with dog feces on the sidewalk outside the front door and the way kids tromp on the beds with their shoes on in the store, would you want these mattresses. What kind of manager is this. Isnt there laws against selling used items as new, especially mattresses. Ill be checking with the department of health. Total waste of my time. After I tell the manager what I think of him and their deceptive practices I will never set foot in that store again. Glad I didnt opt to have it delivered. If they offered to ship another bed maybe that would have been an option, except this is a discontinued line. Obviously, their greed to clean out the store overrode the need to be up front and honest with a customer who was expecting to pick up new furniture. All they needed to do was call me and tell me what was up, instead they chose to waste my time and the person who brought their truck to pick the furniture up.

11/5/2016 - I debated whether I should spend any more time and energy writing a review of this place, but if it helps one potential customer from ever entering their door it will have been worth it. After doing much research on sofa manufacturers and models, my wife and I decided on one particular manufacturer and 2 models. Furniture Superstore is the only dealer of the manufacturer we chose in Maine. Despite the many bad ratings and experiences of this store, we decided to go in anyway to get pricing information and to pick fabric so they could go through a pricing exercise with us, with the potential of making a purchase if all went well, since we knew exactly what we wanted and would double/triple check any order placed. We went to the store. I told the sales lady we wanted pricing on these models and she said they were having their annual "floor sample" sale and she would check and see if they could price out our request. As she walked away I really didnt think much of it. We were live customers with our wallets open. We went over and selected several fabrics for inclusion in the pricing. Several minutes later, a tall Millennial approached. His non-verbals strongly suggested he was annoyed, and his words clearly matched. He said "we are having our floor sample sale today and we will not do any pricing until tomorrow, so come back tomorrow" in a very indignant tone that might as well have said "dont bother us with your pricing request - you dont matter to me as a customer today". I asked if he was a manager, and he said that he was. We walked out. As a customer, I find this behavior repulsive. How would the remainder of the transaction have gone if this had not been "floor sample" sale day? Im now glad we we didnt get the chance to find out. I can clearly see that this business has no regard for their customers or even potential customers by this experience, and by the many bad reviews reported. They say that 1 in 20 people go the the trouble of complaining of a bad customer service experience. Just think of the number of dissatisfied customers this place has generated. Stay far away. They have no idea how to treat customers and apparently dont think its very important. I plan to contact the manufacturer about this experience - maybe they will be a bit more concerned about lost business.
