Its fine, unless you have a problem with something... This was my first and last Ikea experience. Wed always heard our friends go on and on about how great Ikea is. Recently, we were looking for a loft bed for our daughter and decided to buy one from Ikea over other places due to a design feature we liked. The two closest Ikea stores to us are each 2-3 hours away. I took a day of vacation from work, drove to Ikea, took in the whole store, got the loft bed and came home after making a couple other stops. Got home, tore down our daughters existing bed in order to have room to assemble the new loft bed. So, I get the instructions out, and start sorting through the parts list, comparing the items in the parts bag to the list. I had the exact quantities of everything listed except for these bolts without heads. The list said I should have 27, and I only had 17. I double and triple checked everything before calling the store. I call the store, calmly tell them the situation. This is where things went downhill. I was told I could come back to the store and they would open a carton and give me the necessary parts from another in stock item OR, they could call their manufacturing facility in Sweden for replacements which should arrive in about 14 days. I explained that I was a first time customer who had driven 2-3 hours one way to make this purchase, and that driving back was not an option. I was told those were my only two options, with a "take it or leave it" tone of voice. I hung up the phone to cool down before I said something I regretted. I call back, got a different associate. Explain the whole situation to her. She tells me they can open a box and FedEx me the parts. I asked several times if she really meant FedEx or US mail. She answered FedEx each time I asked her. However, she said she couldnt guarantee that it would be shipped FedEx next day, or ground. She could add case notes and the manager who reviews these type of cases or requests would make the call if overnight delivery would be granted. So I again tell her that Im a first time customer, and that our daughters old bed is now gone to make room for the new one, so she doesnt have a bed in her room now to sleep in. Well, I didnt have a good feeling about the way things had gone, so the next morning I took some of the existing pieces to the local hardware store and bought 15 metric bolts at a cost of $4-$5 to fashion into usable parts for the bed- I bought 5 extra to allow for goofs. I used a hacksaw and a Dremel to cut the heads off of the bolts at the appropriate length. So, back to assembling the bed. I get nearly done and realize that i am going to have 10 extra pieces! It turns out the parts list in the instructions has a typo and the correct number of pieces were packed in the box, but due to the typo, it appeared that I had been shorted parts. I decided not to call Ikea, just to see if and when the replacement parts would show up. Well guess what? They showed up just over a whole week later. And, are you ready for this? They came regular ole US mail, NOT FedEx as promised. The parts were in an envelope, no note, letter, apology in any form- just the parts, nothing else. Ikea does have some cool looking, reasonably priced things, but I just feel like they totally dropped the ball on customer service. They could have cared less that I was a first time customer and what first impressions I was forming. For this reason, I doubt that Ill ever go back again, unless I am carjacked and forced to drive there with a gun to my head. And hey, I might even refuse then, who knows.

Omg where to start. Bought my goods and signed up for home delivery. Next day delivery comes which is great. Except they only had half of my table and none of my other items. Delivery guy was horrible staring at me lustfully and asking me weird questions like wheres your man at. Totally inappropriate. Going in and out of my home trying to figure out where my stuff was. Said damn I hope we didnt deliver it to someone else and talking on speaker to ikea about my purchase walking around arguing with the lady on the phone. I was so uncomfortable and told him to go to his truck and then call me when you figure it out. Well he didnt he said Id have to call and left. I was trying to leave town and it was taking forever. Oh yes and before he left he asked me to sign for the entire delivery. I said Im not signing anything. He argued and said he had to take the half of the table back if I wouldnt sign. Like go ahead what am I going to do with half a table anyway. So 30 min later of customer service call and 30 min from ikea store and they still couldnt figure out where my things were. Their answer was that they had everything in stock and they could deliver a few days later. I said that would be fine but I dont want the same pervert coming to my home. They said unless I knew the guys name the same person might come and theres only one delivery company for my area. So my only option was to cancel my order. But she didnt know how to do that so she had to call me back. This took several phone calls weird questions and finally I said I would just go to the store to get it. No apologies anything. OK so fast forward to the store supposedly they got a new system and no training on it and couldnt find my case took about 40 minutes in the store while I waited at the same counter and they proceeded to help other customers. Finally got all my money back and was walking out the store . My first service lady said oh you forgot to take your table the manager wanted you to have a new table and your bench for your troubles. I thought wow thats amazing I actually even hugged the cashier. Needless to say I get to my car and people come running out saying we made a mistake thats not your table. I said oh OK . I was so embarrassed people in the parking lot were staring at me like I was the crazy lady and I just unpacked my car and gave them the stuff and left super embarrassed. I will never shop at IKEA again worst experience of my life with a store ever.

Drove for two hours from Erie to pick up some new bedroom furniture and mattresses. We had already prepared the shopping list online and made sure everything was in stock. We walked through the store, picking up a few other odds and ends that we needed. An employee assisted us with printing out the order form for a FJELL king size bed and mattress. The original mattress we picked was out of stock. Minor inconvenience, we just picked out another. Went through the self service area to retrieve our larger items and discovered that the nightstands and dressers we had picked out for the master bedroom were not in stock. No big deal, itll just give us an excuse to come back in a few weeks. Waited in the checkout line for 30-40 minutes, then another 20-30 minutes in the home delivery line. As were leaving the parking lot, my husband realizes that they had put us down for a king bed and a queen mattress. Went back in the store, waited in the return/exchange line for 20-30 minutes, explained the situation and were told that there were no king mattresses in stock, which must have been why the employee ordered a queen. REALLY?? A queen mattress with a king bed?? I was beyond annoyed at this point and was ready to just say forget it all and if we hadt already been through the home delivery process, I would have. We ended up just returning the queen mattress and buying (a much nicer) king mattress locally. The rest of the order was delivered without any problems. I will say that I was impressed that delivery from Pittsburgh to Erie was only $149.00. The assembly instructions leave A LOT to be desired. There are no words, just pictures. The Trysil queen bed frame for our spare bedroom was pretty easy to assemble, but the FJELL king bed frame is a different story. Our contractors have put in about 6 hours assembling and it is only a little more than half way done. Overall, Im pretty indifferent about IKEA. The bed weve put together seems to be pretty good quality and the other one that in process seems like it will be good. Im just not sure all the aggravation is really worth the couple bucks we saved. Probably wont ever purchase furniture again.
