Went to the new store when it first opened and was looking at the firearms they had in stock. I was overal impressed with the selection and most prices they had and was really impressed when an employee told me that they would price match on their firearms. So i happened to find a Ruger LCP .380 at an out-of-state store for only $199.99 plus tax brand new in store price. I called when i got in town to make sure before i drove to the store that they would price match. The woman on the phone said "We can price match an over the counter sales price as long as it is at a store within a 100 mile radius and is not an online price only item.".I told the lady which firearm it was and her repy was " we only have it in the bi-tone so it woud have to be and exact price match.". The out-of-state store was only 67.9 miles from Asheville so i decided i would go to Field and Stream and get it. Got to the store and asked a store employee to see the particular firearm, which they had in the bi-tone as well as the solid black, which was only $199.99 at the other store. I asked the employee, to make sure, if they pricematched. He replied " We do, but only with local competitors.". I asked what kind of mile radius "local competitors" would be in. His response was preffered under a 100 mile radius. I explained that i had been at an out of state store within that radius that had the gun, of which is normally $349.99 on sale for $299.99 at Field and Stream, was only $199.99. His reply was "Well we cannot price match that particular store due to the fact that they buy their firearms in bulk so that is why they have such a good price on it.". I explained to the employee that thier regular price was only $20 less than Field and Stream so the exuse given made no sense. He agree and apologized but said it was store policy. I called a local gun store to see if they would price match and they said no but they had the same gun on sale for $219.99, only $20 more. They were currently out of stock and had more on order. Knowing they had them in stock i called Field and Stream and asked, since they couldnt price match that specific out of state store, if they could price match a local store only 10 or so miles away. They said they could not due to the store not having the item on stock. Frustrated i went to the local gun store and talked to them about it. They agreed that it made no sense that they wouldnt price match because the market price of that gun had dropped dramatically thus both stores had that gun on sale only $20 difference and well under Field and Stream price. They also were happy to order me one for their price. Field and Stream should not have a price match policy if they are not going to disclose the fine print to every customer from the get go. Also it makes no sense to say that a specific state wide store buys in bulk ,thus the price of the gun, when field and stream has multiple locations throughout the country and has Firearms in stock. I will not be purchasing from Field and Stream again due to their appearent lack of intrest in making money and being fair. Ive always been told its better to make ten dollars then no dollars so making excuses on why you cannot, all of a sudden, price match an item that a couple stores within their 100 mile radius have close to $100 off Field and Stream price is beyond me. Also just about all of their carrhart clothing is over $20 higher than a store not even a quarter of a mile down the street.

The three guys behind the gun counter totally ignored my wife as she tried to ask to look at a G19. They even ignored me as they were deep into some discussion amongst themselves. So Carolina Guns and Gear or On Target will get my business. I had to replace a set of Leupold rings and the girl doing returns wouldnt stop flirting with some guy until the lady behind me asked if we were going to be helped. Totally ruined her day. She then acted like I tried to steal a different set of rings because of the price differences. I used a $10.00 off coupon, manager came over and had to explain it to her. Other than those crappy experiences, I had no shortage of people who wanted to help me. Fishing gear is awesome and they have what is popular for this area. Sales guys in this Dept. were awesome even when being overwhelmed. I give them six stars.

It would be a great place if the employees and managers would try to help customers. We stood for about thirty minutes with no one helping or asking if they could help.Wanted to buy a new scope for my rifle and my son was wanting to buy a gun. We were excited about the store opening but I guess we will still have to travel to Bass Pro or Cabelas to get help. I could understand if there was a store full of customers but there were only two of us at the counter. If customer service stays like this it will not be long before it closes.

Useless, unintelligent, dull, unmotivated employees at gun counter. They were too lazy to sell me a pistol today, despite my possessing a valid NC Driver License and NC Concealed Handgun Permit. They came up with some lame excuse about my address, and stated that they couldnt sell me any handgun, despite the fact that THEY HAVE SOLD ME SEVERAL TO DATE with the same address and ID/Permit. Ironically, it was close to closing time. Dont shop here if you expect real service. These people suck, and I wont ever be back.

There was only 1 cashier ringing everyone up on Memorial Day at that!! I left my buggy in the check out line and left. It was frustrating since they had 3 people doing returns as you walk in the door! Every employee we saw just looked at you and kept walking. No customer service at all! We did not get one hello or even a screw you from any employees! This is the third time weve been in his store, and it will be the last time as everytime has been like this one. RUDE PEOPLE!

Went to the store to buy a rifle, after waiting 2 and 1/2 hours was told I could not buy one because I was from Florida! Talked to a manager and after a while was told its because FL doesnt allow it. Just checked FL statutes and nothing exists. Hate being lied to! The kicker was the day before I came and asked this specific question and was told that it was OK. Miserable experience and will not be going back or to Dicks, same company, again!

First time in a Field & Stream, but it definitely wont be the last! This is honestly the first review Ive ever written, but shopping here was such a great experience I wanted to share. The best thing about the store in my opinion is the quality of the products they have. I like to buy things that will last and luckily theyre reasonably priced here. The staff are helpful and friendly too.
