Just left the Walmart earlier this morning. I rarely write reviews, but this was a particularly negative experience so I felt that it was worth sharing to let others know. I walked in the store and requested assistance to identify whether or not an item I wanted was in stock. I spoke with an associate near the door and he directed me to a manager whom he claimed could help. I approached the manager who pretended not to notice me, after the SECOND time I called for him he responded. I relayed my request to him to locate the item and he muddled a response about "you need a upc code" and walked away. No explanation. Maybe Im naive, but I thought he was going to check on the item for me. Instead, he ran to the other side of the store and would not acknowledge my presence. I waited and waited and he finally came back to my area and purposely walked around me so he did not have to answer my question. I asked another employee who explained what the code was, which she explained is just a number on the website that they use to locate items in-store. So of course I would know what the acronym meant, right? She said she wasnt able to help me because she did not have the access and only the manager from earlier could. Frustrated and having wasted 45 mins of my time, I left. Im not looking for incredible customer service, but is it wrong to think that a manager in a store would be able to explain how item lookups work? Horrible experience, I hope that no one else has to deal with that manager or his complete lack of customer service skills.

The sales associate working the ammo aisle looked at me and assumed I was only browsing or being noisy in the aisle so he upped and disappeared. I literally had to go searching for someone to hand me the ammo thats behind a locked cabinet. After several attempts at finding him he finally came around. I informed him of my disappointment as he handed me 2 boxes of ammo. Another customer walked over as I was looking for the sales associate. So after serving me the sales associate served the next customer. I was unaware I had to wait until he finished with the next customer before he could walk us over to the opposite end of the store to make the final purchase. Before he rang up my ammo he asked me for my pistol permit. Good thing I had it on me. They never asked for my permit before. My father was puzzled but went with the flow. My father watched as the next customer went up to finalize his purchase and wasnt asked for any identification. Strange when I only purchased 2 boxes yet this gentleman purchased 6 or more. Both my father and I were puzzled. Did the sale associate assume I didnt have a permit? Was he assuming I wasnt buying it for myself? These are the questions that plagued us. Was I discriminated against because Im a female? Very interesting! Whats good for the goose should be good for the gander. Overall Walmart lived up to its standards for sales and good pricing. They didnt have good fishing poll rails so we didnt buy any.

I really dont like doing this, but honestly this Walmart and many of their staff, need training on how to just treat people in a decent manor. Im not going to include the actual people who care for their job, because I know they must be great employees and its not fair to lump everyone in. I only had one employee in electronics speak to me in a polite way while 3 others spoke to me as if Im an idiot even though I was asking a simple inventory question. The worse part was a "manager" whos name begins with an "R" spoke to me as if I was just some difficult customer ruining his day...I love his comment of " theres apparently a communication error here and I cant help so speak to that girl, because youre clearly not getting what Im saying".... Well, "R" had you taken the time to give a damn about the question I was trying to ask instead of brushing me off, we would of had an understanding and I wouldnt have had to ask 4 employees the same thing. Really disappointed and I dont have a reason or need to visit this location again. Terrible interpersonal skills. P.S. Some of your employees should be careful what they chit chat about while on the job, because even though I dont have kids, the last thing they need to hear is promiscuous escapades of people while on the job. Again, this is not every employee because Im sure the exist somewhere not getting the recognition they deserve, but what I went through today was deplorable.

Urban location of the chain on two levels. While its clearly a Walmart, this location is tired, worn, and dirtier than other locations. Often difficult to find a cart at entry. Product assortment is pretty good and prices better than other local options, but items are often thinly stocked or out. Store is constantly being stocked when I visit (all departments). Seasonal items, pharmacy, and check-out are on the entry level. Lower level is food, tech, auto, household, and toys. Use the escalator and cart escalator not the elevator (which is slow, often breaks down, and usually overcrowded). The low-light of the experience is checkout, which has consistently long lines, slow checkers (talking to friends coming on and off duty, checking phones, eating snacks, etc), and no supervisors around for the inevitable snafus. It commonly takes me 15-20 minutes because few lines are open. Its a chronically broken system that has gotten worse every year at this location. If you drove, cashier will validate your parking.

From someone who has a Lord & Taylor gift card in her pocketbook and always was a Macys person I love Walmart I find the same name brands in appliances curtains Im looking for houseware either food or cleaning products paper products the prices are great I wont deny sometimes theres quite a wait on the line but nothing that horrendous the money that you save its worth it and they have a parking lot across the street that you can park and take the elevator right to Walmart or theres another parking lot on the side street you can park and walk over or something theres parking with meters in the front which might be hard to find a space pending on the hour but its very accessible wheelchair accessible the prices are awesome I never thought I would so much that I order online all the time its wonderful Ive never been disappointed

Wal-Mart of White Plains was a big mistake within itself. It lacks in the quality and friendly customer service that makes Wal-Mart what its supposed to be. From the disorganization, to the impatience of the staff, to the unnecessary congestion of their lines in the evening...it remains a mystery why this location is still in existence. Managers are non existent, and the ones that do appear randomly, are a disgrace to the title. Despite it all, what gets me to come here is the fact that it is the closest in the area, and the one or two (literally) employees who can still put a smile on their face amongst the madness, and provide you with great service. If it wasnt for that, Id just take the trip to Teterboro, NJ. My advice, management needs to step up and fix the store internally before its too late.
