Ive never been treated more poorly anywhere than when I was at Davis on 3/22/2013. I called ahead and asked if they had the ammo I wanted. They said they did, which was exciting because it is uncommon ammo and I havent been able to find it in months. I asked if there was a limit on the amount I could buy and he said no. He said he has 5 cases. I get to the store and talk to the person behind the gun counter. He tells me he can only sell me 2 boxes. When I tell him that I called 20 minutes ago and I was told by Kevin there was no limit on the amount I could buy, he said that sounds like something Kevin would say and told me to talk to him. He directed me to the checkout counter at the front of the store. I told Kevin what he said on the phone (unlimited amount) and what the counterperson told me (2 boxes) and before he could answer, an old lady from behind the counter says, "first it was 4 boxes, now its unlimited! It has been limited to 2 boxes for 3 weeks now! You people are ridiculous!" She said it in the most rude, sarcastic and condescending manner. I was shocked and all I could say was "Wow". She replies with, "Yeah, wow." Again sarcastic and condescending. I said "I cant believe my credibility is being questioned when Im trying to buy something at your store. " By this time, Kevin walked away, probably because he caused this confrontation between me and this bitter woman. She remained quiet. I bought my ammo (somehow they allowed me to buy 4 boxes) and left. I will NEVER return to that store again and I encourage everyone to do the same. What ever happened to customer service? What, because supply is low and demand is high, it gives this business the right to treat their customers like crap? Thats what I get for giving business to the mom-and-pops stores. Screw that! Ill buy online from Cabelas and Cheaper than Dirt. The original owner of Davis would be so ashamed to see what his business turned into. In reading the other reviews, I guess I should have known. The only positive reviews they received were short one sentence reviews all done 10 or 11 months ago. Why doesnt Davis make it more obvious they were writing them themselves? Get a clue. Ramsey Outdoor is 10 minutes away in Ramsey, NJ on Rt. 17S and they dont treat their customers like pieces of crap. Im a police officer and get treated like crap at work, I dont need it when Im off. Anyone else who wants to avoid being treated like crap: AVOID DAVIS SPORT SHOP!

Warning!!!!!!!! do not do business with the place. absolutely the worst gun shop i ever dealt with. Brought my rifle to this shop to set up a transfer to a different state. the rifle was given them on Oct 12th we were advised it would take 5 - 7 days to receive the rifle. after not receiving it by the 21st i called in to see what was going on. I spoke to a man in the firearms section and he told me the rifle was shipped yesterday on the 20th (this is 8 days after we brought it in). After waiting another week i called back (this is the 28th of Oct) i spoke to a female and asked what is the status of my rifle and can i have a tracking number she first informed me she could not locate my rife and asked me to hold when she got back on the phone she told me my rifle was right in front of her and it never left (its been there for 16 days now). by this point Im furious but trying to stay cool and collected (in fear if i freak out on them they might damage my rifle) i ask to have my rifle overnight-ed to me due to their poor service. the lady laughs like how dare i ask for them to overnight my rifle after them losing it for 16 days. so i end up having to have them ship it anyways because at this point i am already out of state. the rife is due to be receive at my now local gun shop on Nov 3. what was suppose be a 5 to 7 process ended up being a 22 day process and they didnt even offer any type of compensation for my inconvenience (meaning overnight the rife). when/if i receive my rife i will be checking the rifle and the scopes serial number to make sure they did not switch any parts out. i will be reporting them to the BBB and the FBI so they can investigate this shop. Update 11/7/2016: Received a call from a Tiffany who works for Davis in regards to my comment. She was extremely rude, aggressive and threaten me with legal action if i did not remove my comment. For a store that promotes "lets make America great again" they seem not to care about our constitutional rights aka freedom of speech.

If it were possible to give NEGATIVE STARS, I would give negative 10. Terrible service and way over priced firearms, this place is the worst. I will never spend another dollar in this store and I have passed this along to all my friends, colleagues and family that partake in the sport of marksmanship. I Paid $1599.99 + tax = $1799.29 for a Remington R-25 .308 win. in 2009. I brought the rifle home, put it in the safe and never fired it. I decided I didnt need the rifle since it never left the safe, so I called Davis, explained that I was considering selling the rifle and they told me they would buy it back. I explained it was in brand new / unfired condition and tried to get them to quote me a dollar amount on the buy back over the phone, but they would not. They told me they would need to inspect the rifle to confirm its condition. I though this was fair, so I decided to take the ride over there and let them check it out.. Of course I knew that the amount of money on the return would be somewhat less than I paid for it because it is still considered a used rifle, even though it was never fired and locked away in a safe. Upon inspecting the rifle, the counter help stated "I can see this thing is new and in excellent condition, you really never shot this rifle" as he went over it with a fine tooth comb. Thus confirming my explanation of the rifles condition. I was shocked when he said in a very low voice (in an effort to not allow the other customers to hear) "I can give you $600 for the rifle." I could not believe it! $1000 loss on a rifle that I didnt even shoot, that was in perfect condition. I packed the rifle back in its case, left the store and never looked back. I was not going to let them have this rifle for $600 so they could in turn, put it on their used gun rack for $1300 and make $700 on a rifle they already made a killing on! They will take advantage of you, if you let them. They are the worst!!!

5.0 star rating 8/31/2016 I have been a customer since the early 90s and I can say that even though Davis is just under 60 miles from my home and a bridge toll, I would rather buy my sporting goods there than some of the big name sporting goods stores. Wayne and his family have created a great place to buy everything from clothing, to fishing equipment to firearms and ammunition. Their knowledgeable staff and the personalized customer service make it unique in this day and age. Every year I look forward to their March/April Mega blowout sale! I have purchased a couple of firearms and a multitude of lures, rods, reels and line from the Sloatsburg store. I always feel that Ive gotten a good deal and great service! If you can get there, go. A visit is worth the trip. P.S. I had a chance to read some of the other reviews and I suspect that the negative reviews are being posted by competitors and/or their cronies. This a family run business. They and their staff appear to be honest, knowledgeable and accommodating. In an era when the antis are out to strip us of our rights, not only the 2nd Amendment but also fishing (Cruel nature of fishing due to the pain and "emotional" stress that hooked fish experience) do we really need to attack one of our own? Ive got a 20+ year history of buying from Davis and I can say WITHOUT RESERVATION that I hope to have another 20 years. To Danny P. complaining about the "Mega Sale" lack of ammo. If you had asked or listened to the staff there was a delivery issue from the supplier. I went on the morning of the 2nd and got all I needed in several different calibers.
