A great store with an amazing selection of gear. The staff really know their stuff and happily give advice on anything from gear choice to planning your day in the surrounding Shawangunks (Gunks) lands or (in my case) advice on a particular rock climb! The store isnt huge but they carefully choose high quality gear and brands to fill the place; dispensing with the lower-quality and "filler" items found across the big box stores. Since most of the staff are very active in various outdoor sports that personal "product-testing" feedback works within a short time-frame! Check it out - Ive been a happy customer since my "newbie" rock climbing days 18+ years ago and I still see the owner Rich and his staff, who act like family, treating new customers just as they did me :)

There is affordable consignment gear for bulking your rack at their "annex" and a cool museum in their main store, along with a wealth of resources and a broad gear selection. The staff are also friendly, they were more than willing to help me find the correct obscure part for an old cam and then they helped me replace the trigger wire on my old antique cam. Very pleasant experience.

Rock and snow is wonderful! Solid selection of climbing gear, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and theyll match anyones prices. If you need any beta on climbing routes, etc, theyll help you out. Rock and Snow is active in the climbing community, and often supports efforts such as replacing rappel anchors with donations and gear. So show them some love!
