Roche Bobois is a store that is about two things; style and service. Walking into this store can humble anybody down to the same feeling as Julia Roberts Pretty Woman shopping escapade, but what else could be expected from a Paris-based furniture couturier on the most expensive street on Long Island? However, once you walk in, you realize why this store is so popular, as somebody will usually greet you within 30 seconds of entry. The staff is incredibly attentive, it truly could be described as white glove service. Also, it is a bit hard not to fall into a trance when seeing the different collections, one of which is designed by Jean-Paul Gautier himself, which range from ornate French country to chic, (sometimes eccentric) modern. But, know that it is not, by any means, inexpensive (sectional sofas can easily be $10,000). With that said, when you pay top-dollar, you get amazing service. For example, if you love a piece but it is not the right size by several inches, they often will custom make it with little, and often no charge. The service also does not stop when you swipe the credit card. For example, after I purchased my dinning room table last spring (on sale), the company that does their installations put the table together the wrong way, which I did not notice until recently. Also know that I did not purchase any protection plan. Well, I called the RB store and expected to hear the usual "we are not responsible" run-around. Instead, they gave me the number for their service center, which called me back promptly. They sent somebody over (around my schedule), who gave my table a thorough exam and told me that it was indeed installed wrongly. Within two days, the service center called me up and told me that they would pick my table up and fix it, free of charge. But, it didnt end there. They also gave me a loaner table, also a RB expandable glass model like mine, and in the size I needed. So, if your budget will allow it, and you like European-style furniture, then this store is a must see.

Quick review about this shop. I’ve always loved the design, stopping in front of the store window, and recently I went there to finally buy a sofa. The salesmen were great, they explained everything very well, told me all about their production process, and gave me advice to choose well. I came back with my husband and we ordered a sofa. We are now waiting for it to be made in France, but the store often updates me on the advance on our sofa. I believe it’s going to be great when delivered!

dont ever expect a refund! months have passed phone calls emails and store visits and there is still no sign of the credit of $10,000 on our amex buyer beware !
