This is one of my favorite places to go. Its got a great selection of comics, and they will list out new comics or ones they just got in, and what they dont have they will try to find or order for you. They have a small collection of manga, as well as a few bookshelves of hardcover editions or omnibus collections. On the walls the have all sorts of different collectibles, from Caps shield to a batman figurine, not to mention a decorative tardis in the corner. They have a wide selection of board games, from superfight to settlers of catan, theres a lot of party games, cooperative games, and strategic games. If you need Pathfinder or Dungeons and Dragons manuals or pawns or dice theyve got those too, and warhammer manuels, figures and paints. If youre into card games theyve got those too, their magic selection is vast where they have packs and singles, and mats and deck boxes, their pokemon and yugioh selection is significantly less, they also carry force of will and a few more less popular card series. Towards the back of the store they have rows of tables where you can try out a boardgame or come to one of their many events where you can play dnd, magic, force of will and other things, they have a printed list in store and information online. Judging by the length of this review its safe to assume that if you like comics and games this place is for you.

I love shopping there, but their customer service is awful. They recently had a "Game Day" where customers can bring in their own game boards and the store opens some games and demonstrates them for the public before purchasing. Its an all day event, with food and drink to be provided, a good deal for $10. 30 minutes into the event we called to confirm. We were told they "might" be out of food, the employee could not see the food table from where he was standing. We were disappointed and decided not to go. The employee either should have offered to check for us, transferred us to someone else, or they need to better judge the popularity of their events. Maybe next time sell tickets so they know how much food to purchase and charge double for tickets purchased day of, or perhaps just dont offer food at all.

I really enjoy this store. The staff is really cool, and even though they get a lot of negative press for their "unfriendliness", I have not had a bad experience there. It is a nerd shop so I do not need my handheld so I may be at an advantage when it comes to knowing what I want, or being able to shop for myself. Every time I have needed assistance or a price check on a item that did not have a price on it someone has been there to assist. The only reason why I am taking a star off is due to their pricing. Sucks that most of the time I can find a better deal on stuff online than in a local store, but that is how the world works; pay more to not have to wait for it to be shipped, or pay less and wait until it arrives.

Where to begin? My time at the fantasy shop began roughly a year ago today. It was fun engaging and a great place to meet folks who like the same games as you or even find new ones. But sadly its glory days are behind it. The management has made the poor decision to stop trade ins. For the uninitiated this is a nice way to find fun games at a discount and a nice way to help generate store credit. I would still encourage people to visit as its still a great place to hang and play games but its days are numbered. If the upper management continues to make these poor decisions then we will lose yet another haven of all things nerdy.

I do not like the overpriced sealed mtg product at this store. I can get a booster box of SOI elsewhere for $35 cheaper than what I have to pay there. An LGS that moves the amount of product Fantasy Shop moves typically receives sealed booster boxes at around the $70-$80 range from their distributor. Rather than charging what most LGS stores do ($90) Fantasy Shop charges $125. I get that you need to make a profit, but I can get the same product down the street for $35 cheaper. Sorry, but my loyalty to you isnt THAT strong. Buyer beware, you are most likely paying too much for your sealed cards at this place.

Very clean and professional comics & games shop. Staff is friendly and helpful, nice atmosphere, and good selection/diversity for a physical-space store. The only reason I withheld a star is the limitation of physical-space retail ... relatively terrible prices and extremely limited selection compared to online venues. Still, a community space for gaming and discussion is valuable in its own right, and thereby worthy of patronage in my opinion. Stop by and check them out, I doubt youll find a retailer in this business that can rival them, much less exceed them.

The first time we stopped in here I had reservations, traditionally stores "like this" are more my wifes thing than mine. The selection of stuff they stock is impressive. While my wife was looking at comics and magic the gathering I was able to look at the board/card game offerings. The staff was very friendly and very willing to talk about the games they love and what they love about them. Its nice to see employees that both use and love the products they sell rather than just trying to get sales.

I have to agree with the most recent review. As far as selection and prices go, they cant be beat. However, the store credit for trade ins is downright laughable and almost half the staff seems to not care about selling product or even noticing people shopping. If you want to spend 4 minutes in their buying stuff then it is fine, but prolonged exposure to the shop showcases an unfriendly atmosphere with very little care

You will never have a bad experience at The Fantasy Shop, unless you hate people. Or fun. A WIDE selection of games and comics, and a TON of space for gaming. Their game day events see a large number of attendees, so expect a crowd, but you will always be treated well. Staff is knowledgeable and always eager to help, ready to greet you as you walk in. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

This shop has the best Friday Night Magic Drafting that I have found in St. Louis. They set a friendly but competitive environment with house rules against foul language and a judge/organizer that has a zero tolerance policy on cheating. As a regular participant, I am proud that the community is friendly and inviting to new players and younger children, the future of the game.

The staff were helpful and informative, friendly and welcoming. Cool environment with a couple of tables of games going on while we shopped. My only disappointment was the selection of dice. They had the basics to get you started. They had lots of board games and the new D&D books! I was just hoping for some unique dice :) Overall great place for nerds like me though!

I live an hour and a half away and consider this to be my LCS. The staff is always friendly and helpful but also not too pushy about anything. Relaxed atmosphere and great selection of comics. Plus twice a year they treat us to the .25 back issue sale (the reason I first was drawn here!) I recommend everyone who loves comics to check out the Fantasy Shop!
