I breed Great Danes. Over the years, I have developed a deep distrust of commercial dog food manufacturers based on bad personal experiences, and just simply watching the news with all the countless horror stories out there. As a result, I have done more research on a dogs dietary needs than many vets have. As a result, I feed our dogs home-cooked, human-grade food with great results. We currently have a new mother that is convalescing and I wanted to get a certain canned food as an emergency measure to jump-start her appetite. I called the Petco store on Vivion Road to inquire if they had this food in stock. The clerk, who sounded all of maybe 18 years old, proceeded to lecture me that I should be feeding a commercial dry dog food, and how NOTHING I could feed could possibly be as good as a dry dog food. When I began to tell this silly little twit that I knew what I was doing and just wanted to know if they had what I was inquiring about, she very rudely interrupted me and went on raving about how great commercial dry dog food was. Hey, you are entitled to your opinion, and I realize a lot of your income comes from selling that garbage, but you are not entitled to be rude to a customer, or presume to lecture a customer about something you know nothing about. Needless to say, I will NEVER give Petco one dime of my business again, and the fact that I felt compelled to come to Google and write this review should tell you just how much this ticked me off. I didnt call to ask the advice of some silly little 18 year old girl trying to peddle garbage I dont want, when all I wanted was to find out if you had another product in stock. The arrogance of this employee lecturing me about how bad what I feed my beloved dogs is, when she doesnt even know WHAT I feed, was just ridiculous!

This store is fine if youre just trying to buy necessities, but if youre wanting to get your pet groomed I would go somewhere else. The staff that work here are rude and unprofessional. I called once trying to figure out the prices for my dog to get bathed & groomed, I didnt get to talk to one of the groomers because they were too busy and "under staffed" so I talked to a different employee and I didnt get an accurate price range. The second time I called to make the appointment which was on a different day someone that wasnt from the grooming area answered the phone and had to find a groomer to make the appointment. The girl on the phone was short with me & very rude when I asked simple questions. When I asked her if i could come in on a certain day she scoffed at me and said "Nope, we are full that day, YEP. FULL." and I told her I would call again when I can know my schedule for next week and she replied, "yep mhmm okay bye." lastly I finally knew my schedule and they again, didnt have a groomer answering the phone for costumers to make appointments someone else answered asking me to hold and then forgot about me id assume since I was waiting for 8 minutes. So I had to call again only to be told someone will leave a message & theyll call me right back which I doubt. Ive taken one of my dogs here before and they werent friendly when I walked in & when they were done grooming my dog it looked like they used dry shampoo on her and didnt really cut any of her hair. I do NOT recommend Petco, people should take their pets and money somewhere else.

I have been going to this Petco to get my 9 year old yorkie groomed for over a year now. I told the groomer that my dog has been super itchy lately and she told me that she was going to do a tea tree oil treatment on him to relieve the itching. I dropped my dog off at 10 am and she told me that she was super busy but that she got off at 4:30 so she would be calling before then for me to pick him up. 5pm rolls around and I still hadnt recieved a phone call from her. I called petco and was on hold for 5 mins. I decided to hang up and try to call back. Agan, I waited 5 mins and no one picked up. I decided I was going to pick my dog up if he was ready or not. I walk in, and his paper is sitting on the counter, but the groomer is no where in sight. I went and found an associate and asked to speak with the manager. I told the manager that my dog had been there for 7 hours and no one called me to pick him up. She proceeded to tell me that no one answered the phone because "the groomer was on lunch". Even though someone picked up the phone and asked me to hold. Anyways, I got my dog and the manager gave me a 20% discount for my troubles. Truth is, it should have been free. Looks like a pre schooler got ahold of a pair of scissors and started chopping away. She missed patches of his hair all over his body and he doesnt even smell like he even got a bath, let alone a tea tree oil treatment! This place is a joke and extremely over priced! I will be going elsewhere

Went in today to pick out a rat since ours died about a year ago. It took my boyfriend about fifteen minutes to get someone to come help us. while that was frustrating, it gave me time to watch the rats play so I didnt really mind. Then the lady came and GRABBED THE RAT I WANTED BY THE TAIL!!! I know its a tank full of animals and theyre nervous, but you absolutely cant handle rats like that, its super painful and can cause the skin to slide off their tail (called degloving). She then just tossed the animal into a box, didnt offer to let me hold it or decide if this was really the one I wanted. We bought her and went home, mostly because I didnt want her to be handled like that anymore. Even if this was a new employee, she should know better than to treat an animal like that. Pretty disgusted and I plan on making a complaint with Petco about the store.

I went in to get feeder fish a couple weeks ago and the guy in that department was totally rude. I asked him to get me a dozen of the smaller sized minnows and he cut me off stating that he wouldnt get me specific feeder fish.... I didnt want specific ones. I just wanted smaller ones that my fish at home could eat. I dont get the hostility. Maybe this dude had a bad day. So fast forward to yesterday I went in to purchase a female ferret I saw there so my ferret at home could have a new friend. But I was met by the same sales associate with the same deplorable attitude. I looked around the store for another associate but there was no one else to be found. Mr. Terrible Customer Service never opened the ferret habitat for me after waiting for 20 minutes and I left without the little girl I wad so excited to meet.
