Ive been there a few times, the 1st service was great they fixed my pedal, but the following summer my back tire was giving me issues. I asked them to tune it, and true the tires, and even asked two employees to note the issue with the tire and let me know if they noticed anything. They trued the tires and my bike felt great for about a week. I brought it back, claiming the issue was still there - I was scolded by one of the employees for having a low-end tire (gee thanks), and was accused of not filling the tired with enough air (not accurate), then they called and said they found the problem; 2 spokes had broken and if a . 3rd one breaks a new tire will be necessary. Without asking my preference, they replaced two of the spokes and charged for them. I would have much rather purchased a new tire esp. as not a 3rd spoke is broken and I find myself in the same situation. What frustrates me is that I could have saved a lot of time if they would have simply taken a moment to listen to my concern regarding the tire from the get-go. Too bad, because their prices seem reasonable, but they dont take the time to really listen to their clients - at least not in my case.

I was sort of nervous to bring a bike in for service given the size and price point of this little shop. Brought my bike in for a routine clean and tuneup and chain and rear cassette replacement. Repairs were completed on time but when I rode my bike the next week the handle bar came loose while I was riding. I fixed it myself and chalked it up to stuff happens but I noticed shortly thereafter riding it my drive train making a clicking noise. I brought it back and was told it could be fixed under warranty. I picked it up a few weeks later and found it to be doing the same thing. I rode it into the shop and the mechanic seemed completely disinterested. He finally agreed to ride with me and to check out the noise after a load of handwringing and extreme curtness. After our ride he came back and made a final adjustment and a dramatic exit without even bothering to tell me to check back. I will not ever be returning. I have no time for people who dont want my business.

Im a very short lady (5ft), so finding a bike has been an issue for me for many years. My girlfriend told me about this shop and I thank her for it! Not only did they have multiple frames that fit my short stature, they also took the time to customize and explain the many different options to me! That right there sealed the deal for me. They also kept things within my budget and got me some sweet deals on used equipment. This shop will always be my bike shop, thank you LBS...you have a customer for life!

This was the first place I picked to start my bike search and I sure got lucky!! Crystal was SO helpful from day one. She schooled me on bikes like nobodys business and let me test ride until I found my Marin Kentfield CS1. The rest of the staff (incl. Merv the pooch) were GREAT! I couldnt be happier with the way I was treated and what I walked away with! THANK YOU LBS!!! *Go check out their new digs at Union Depot!! *

I had heard that this was the greatest bike shop in the Twin Cities from a couple of my friends. After feeling somewhat ripped off and disrespected at other bike shops in the past I decided to give this place a chance. What a great place. They did a quality repair and it cost me way less than I expected. I am looking forward to giving Lowertown Bike shop all of my future bike repair related business.

I wasnt even sure if I was going to buy a bike or not when I walked in, but they had some bikes I really loved, and the salesperson helped me test-ride tons of different types. She was super friendly and helped a lot by explaining the differences between bikes, etc. I bought a bike that day and I love it.

Love the staff here - Crystal does a great job of keeping the place running. I used to frequent the place when I lived downtown, but since moving out of St Paul to Rondo, I havent been able to visit nearly as much as I would like. Check it out if you are downtown and need parts/a bike/company!

Had a break down with my bike and despite being closed, they answered my call and got me in. They had my bike back up and running in just a hand full of minutes and a price that no other shop could match. Very knowledgeable and friendly(chatted old bike stories while they fixed)!!!

I wish the one star reviewer below had elaborated. I love this place. They have great deals on used gear which still works perfectly. Ive bought a rear rack and tail light for my bike here, both used. They also have new if thats what you want.
