They are competent and quick for simple fixes like brake adjustments or rewrapping handlebars. But they are completely unfriendly, not the least bit interested in you as a customer, and that is the ONLY thing that distinguishes one shop from the other. My wife and I went in to buy her a bike and NO ONE came over to help us or make suggestions, even when we found one that we thought we liked. In fact, the guy didnt even take the bike out of the rack for us, we had to pull it out ourselves. I know its a small point, but we were like, seriously? Even after it was clear that we were actually going to spend $200 on a bike, they still were not the least bit interested. If my wife had not really liked the bike, I would have walked out just to find a place that would make us feel good about the purchase. While we were there waiting on my bike adjustment, this father and teenage son came in with a bike they had bought there recently. The derailleur had broken, something Ive never heard of. The first question the guy asked was, how long ago did you buy it? The father said its been a couple months. The shop guy said, oh, sorry, its a 30-day warranty. SERIOUSLY? They will fix your bike, but just go somewhere else.

Terrible service. My fiancé wanted a bike that, while maybe a smidgen too big, was really comfortable for her. I helped her get adjusted and watched her ride it and Im pretty sure it was the right size. Then I had to leave and go back to work, and the second I left the employees treated her like she was a moron. She said she was really comfortable on the bike, they said it was too big for her and that "some people" will just insist on getting a bike thats too big or too small for them. They didnt offer to help her find something else that fit better; they didnt even see her ride the bike at all, they didnt give her any further information on the bike. She really wanted it so she paid and left feeling like a moron and called me sounding really agitated and dejected. She also left her old bike for them as a donation; they gave her a receipt but didnt tell her how shed know how much the bike would be worth in order to claim it on her tax returns. Ive never been in a place so unfriendly and unhelpful. They wont ever get any of our service again; go someplace where people are nice like Sibley Bike Depot on University Ave.

Bike prices are a bit high, but then again, every nerd in the Twin Cities thinks their chain with two wheels is magically worth $300 because supposedly every carbon-based life form in the area will be riding bikes exclusively in the coming Ecotopia. If you can get past the fact that every used bike store in town apparently has a business plan written by a 12 year old boy with an overractive imagination, Express is a great shop with a great mission. They will do good work at somewhat reasonable rates and theyre actually not out to take advantage of you or sell you something you dont need. They are more than happy to use old parts. This makes more sense than going into a for profit/retail shop and paying a small fortune for a cheaply made replacement part which will just break on you next year.

I have repeatedly had issues with this shop. I brought my bike here once to get tuned up because there were slight problems with the rear derailleur. When I got it back, i rode it 2 miles, and the rear wheel came loose. Several other easily avoidable mistakes were made. A few years later I brought it in to fill my tires with air. They wouldnt let me use their pump, so an associate did it. They didnt charge me a penny, but they also didnt replace my innertube when they bursted it. Only go here if you know a lot about bikes. The only thing this shop has going for them is the best selection of used cranksets I have ever seen. Be very careful. Good luck.

Ive been coming here for minor/routine maintenance and repairs - stuff I cant do myself - for 8-9 years now. The customer service varies - some of them are really good, a few of them are brusque and arrogant. Kind of like any hipster boutique business; think of them as barristas. It helps to know exactly what you want done, and present yourself accordingly. Ive never had any complaints about the quality of work; the one job any of them flubbed (seven years ago), they made right quickly. Im docking them a star because of the hipster vibe the place gives off - but I have no serious complaints.

After a year of being pretty satisfied with the bike I bought there, I had to go back and get a small repair. The guy at the counter was so rude to me I almost turned around left on the spot. He acted like everything I said was just about the dumbest thing he had ever heard. And considering the brevity of our conversation, this was really a feat. Its really too bad that a business that is trying to do something good has someone at the counter that causes them to lose customers.

After reading some of these reviews I was braced for less than ideal customer service, but I was really pleased with the help I received during a couple of visits. I walked in to buy a bike and a person offered to help me right away, and went to a lot of trouble to help me find what I was looking for. Another time I brought in a bike for repairs and another to donate and got nice service with both. They were very courteous and it was a good experience.

A truly unique and quality place for service. I always get immediate attention and quick repairs there on my road bike. Great knowledge of staff really helps and 20 yr old bike is running better than ever w/ the help of various staff members. Not always the happiest bunch it seems but they are always busy working on cycles so one can understand having multiple tasks pulling at them. Overall best prices in Twin Cities on parts and repairs!

It is a mixed bag of nutts. On one hand there are professional mechanics on another there are those that know very little and can damage your bike. Costumer service is pretty poor, since their business model is not based on that. What this comes to is high chance of poor experience when using their services. What makes this bike shop worth it, is that they have some of the best used parts bins in TC.

Well that could not have gone any better. I brought my bike in because of an issue with the gear wire. He fixed it in less than 5 minutes for less than 5 bucks. I am very happy and will look forward to going back there.

This place has always been good to me, I stop by 3-5 times a year. Its not a super high end bike shop, its more focused on getting people onto bikes that are good for them. Great place for parts or cheap repairs!
