Very Discouraged. I recently brought my Cervelo S2 in to the Eagan, MN location to have a broken seatpost replaced under Cervelo warranty on Friday July 8th. I spoke with the assistant Manager, Chris to file the paperwork. Approximately a week later, after not receiving any status of the part- whether it could, in-fact be replaced under warranty or when it may be delivered, I called the store. A young man answered and indicated the part had been approved and shipped out, to be received "any day now". I called four days later, again, after not receiving any word if it had been delayed, to find that it "may not have been ordered". He said he would look into it and have Chris return my call with status. A week later, I had still heard nothing. After three weeks of no part, and none of my calls returned, and an upcoming race, I sent Cervelo a message indicating my discouragement and frustration with Penn Cycle. Cervelo has been fantastic with following up and subsequently indicated that the Eagan location cannot handle these types of warranty and should have sent me to the Bloomington or Minnetonka location. I called the Minnetonka location and they indicated they have heard of this matter, but dont know where the part is. I indicated that I have a race coming up and would pay to have the part overnighted to my home. The Minnetonka manager was off on Thursday 8/4 and is to call me back on Friday 8/5. This puts me at four weeks without being able to ride my bicycle and zero returned calls from any of the Penn locations. I have a race this weekend and will not be able to enter due to this. I have bought several Trek bikes at Penn in the past, but based on this experience, I would not recommend Penn Cycle to anyone. They will not return your phone calls or treat you with respect unless you are purchasing a new bicycle from them made by Trek or Gary Fisher. I have had amazing experiences with Eriks bikes with service and warranty work performed in a timely fashion with ample status updates.

TL;DR Their selection could be better as well as their prices, but the bike mechs are generally knowledgeable and friendly. I could tell you the classic I try to support my local bike shop but shopping online is so much cheaper story (as this is certainly the case with this store), but I will tell you another... I almost stopped going to this shop because of one the managers at the eagan location. It was thurs (or friday not 100% sure) I was amped to put my new bike together and drove the 45 minute drive to penn to get a few things done to my frame. I get there and lo and behold they are closed for inventory (which was not even advertised on their website). I thought well thats great what a waste of my already limited freetime (full time job and school), but what do my eyes behold but every employee in there at one time! I think, "Well, theyll certainly do it for me right?" Wrong. I explained to the manager how I had just come up an hour out of my way to get this done and he basically said too bad. Really? Every employee is here and you cant spare one, to do 5-10 minutes of work, for a regular customer(I bet if I wanted to buy a new bike they would have opened the doors wide)? Not only that another employee who was standing their and looking midly upset he couldnt help me out apologized for the douche bag. I had to drive over to a location that was another 30 minutes out of my way. Literally the only saving grace was that I got a personal apology from what I can only assume was the owner of the stores or some higher up(who saw me at the both locations). I will continue to go to this store and spend my money where I can, but only because the employees and mechanics especially are always super cool and super friendly.

Ive been living in this neighborhood for 5 years now and every summer I decide to go into this Penn Cycle and give it another chance. I dont know why I do, because their customer service is the worst Ive seen since Al Johns was still in business. Ive never actually purchased anything here, because every single time Ive gone in there, I can barely even tell who works there. Their floor sales people are always embroiled in either an intense sale with a customer which takes as long as closing on a house, even for simple parts purchases, or theyre shining egos with some race-spandex clad guy about how awesome their last ride was. I was in there yesterday for about 5 minutes and Im like what - do I have to interrupt someone just to buy a silly quick link for a chain? I go over to the service desk and theres no one there. I can see them just fine - in the back yappin away and goofing off. This happens every single time and its really typical for a lot of specialty type shops (bike/board/music/embroidery you name it). The bottom line is that its symptomatic of just plain old piss-poor management

Penn Cycle has been my trusted bike shop for a few years now. I have purchased a couple bikes from them now, and bring my others there for service. I am a demanding bike rider and discerning bike owner, and I have been trusting the Sales and Service department keep me outfitted and riding regularly. At least one of my bikes is in for service on a monthly basis, either for damage I have caused, for maintenance, or for warranty work. The Service department has done an excellent job honoring warranty items and working with manufacturers like Avid, RockShox, Fox and Trek to get my bike repaired. Penn Cycle has a lot of clout with manufacturers and they use it to their advantage. As a regular customer, they have set me up with loaners and rentals while my bike is in the shop, so I have had an opportunity to ride some of the latest bikes. If youre looking for a quality and trustworthy bike ship in the area, give Penn Cycle Eagan a try.

Could not be happier! Recently I had been experiencing elbow issues after long bike rides. I figured I might need something done about the position of my handlebar, but wasnt sure. I had purchased my Trek 4400 at Penn Cycle so I decide to take it there and get some advice. Justin was very helpful and seemed to understand my issue perfectly. The bike needed some other things, but the main recommendation was to try a mustache-style handle. This would allow me to sit more upright. I picked up my bike a couple days later, and just took it for an hour-long ride. ITS AWESOME! Definitely the right thing to do. I really appreciate Justins help. Very friendly and professional. Penn Cycle in Eagan will continue to be my go-to place whenever my bike needs work.

I had been looking for a bike for most of the summer, and stopped at a few different bike shops. I ended up buying at Penn Cycle because they had bikes in stock and even though it was busy, they managed to get me on a test ride & put a bike together for me so I could take it home later that day. I also had a sprocket break on my new bike while on the trails, and I took it in to get it fixed. I planned on leaving it there for a day, but I was in and out within 15 min. They didnt have the part in stock, but they saw it wasnt my fault for the sprocket breaking and they took one off a new bike to put on mine so I didnt have to wait.
