With great sadness we learned last October that my husband has terminal brain cancer. He then suffered a stroke at the end of brain surgery. Prior to these life changing events, he had been exceedingly physically active. One of his favorite activities was to go on long bike rides. Having lost the use of his left side, due to the stroke, we believed his biking days were over. On a whim we stopped by Penn Cycle to see if there might be a recumbent bike that could be altered in some way so Garry might be able to ride again. I had done some research and wasnt too optimistic. Store manager, Jimmie, immediately jumped to our aid. His positive, kind, we can do this personality won us over. Garry now bikes at least one hour a day on his customized recumbent bike, fully equipped with computer and BionX motor and battery. It brings a smile to my face every time he bikes away. Garry grins ear to ear. Thank you Jimmie for your compassion, zest for life no matter the circumstances and being willing to spend so much time getting my husband back on some wheels. Oh - Service doesnt stop when you leave the shop. Jimmie has vowed that hes our man as long as Garry owns the bike. And I know he means it. Penn Cycle is not your ordinary bike shop. Its much, much more. T H A N K Y O U Jimmie and Penn Cycle!!!!!!!!

We have been struggling with our special need son with his bike and not keeping up with his friends and cousins. He was very afraid and apprehensive about riding a bike he is 9 and has never even tried to ride. I was in the shop looking for some bike parts and Jimmy started talking to me about my kids. I told him about our son and he offered to help him learn to ride a bike. After 30 minutes with Jimmy he was balancing and feeling more comfortable on his bike, Jimmy gave me some helpful hints and offered to have him come back for a second or even third time of instruction. It Wasnt needed, the next day our son road his bike by himself for the first time in our driveway, and we cant keep him off it now. It is amazing to me that someone would take the time to teach a child to ride, its the kind of thing you just dont see anymore! Thanks Jimmy and for Penn Cycle for hiring such a wonderful worker! Thanks, or daughter is next!!!

Stopped by Penn Cycle this past Saturday in search of my first road bike. I spent a few minutes looking around at the bikes on display and found a couple that were in my price range and appeared to be along the lines of what I was looking for. A short while later I was approached by a salesman. I gave him my story and asked if it would be possible to get fitted for a pair of shoes and to the proper size frame, to which I was sharply responded to with a one word "No." There was no further explanation or clarification and the salesman turned his back and walked away ending the conversation. Needless to say I did my part and turned for the door. I ended up at Eriks bike shop and was well taken care of.

I bought a bike here with the usual free service for a year. First, the bike was ready late. I called twice and no one knew anything. I finally went to the store and the kids behind the counter didnt know anything. Finally the manager went downstairs and found the bike. Next, I had some service done. The next day I get the bike back and the tire is flat. Next, I need to exchange a shifter. They say it will be a few weeks for the exchange. I buy one have that put on and have them call me when the exchange happens. They never call. The staff is overworked and underpaid. Go to Eriks or Gateway cycle. Maybe other Penns are better but every interaction at this store was a disaster.

Penn is Not your typical Bike Shop. The folks here have their stuff together. Im sure mistakes are made like the person below suggests but overall, after being an avid cyclist for more than twenty years, the guys at Penn are knowledgeable, friendly, and ready to help you with any cycling need. I especially liked the way they consider what you want as a customer and not just what they have in stock. I have some , shall we say vintage bikes and they were as interested in helping me repair and maintain those just like they would a brand new carbon fiber bike. Thanks Again Penn!

Just moved here from the south and completely surprised by how warm and friendly these fellas are. I already have a road and mountain bike but BSd with a really nice guy for a few hours while he explained the area and where to ride around here. I learned a lot that my Nashville bike shop never told me. Ive been here 6 months and have jumped in with a few road rides with these guys. My wife loves them, she is now a proud owner of a shiny womens Madone, they fit her perfectly, she loves riding now. I send a lot of people over there, every has been happy when they leave.

Penn Woodbury hosted an "Indoor Cycle Training Kickoff" event last week (Nov 7) for Total Cycling Performances winter training. What an awesome event! Over 40 riders, of all ages, genders and experience levels. Penn did a phenomenal job of helping riders get set up and fueled. Penn also did a great job of getting reps from several top-tier companies in to support the event. Jimmie Kelley (store manager) and the rest of his staff deserve a ton of kudos for making everyone feel welcome. Thanks!

Very pleasantly surprised by the service department here. Very friendly and informative about needed work on my ride. Felt the prices were fair too. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Went back again for work on the road bike after 4000+ miles and the bike was ready earlier than promised from its overhaul and was nicely cleaned (cleaner than when I brought it in). I have found the staff there to be very friendly and helpful!

I just purchased my first "nice" bicycle because I am ready to take my riding to a new level. I first visited the other option here in Woodbury and test drove a bike. That same night my husband and I went to Penn and had an amazing customer service experience that convinced both of us that Penn was definitely where we would make the purchase. Thank you Dave and everyone at Penn cycle for making this transition fun and comfortable for me:)

We have been to Woodbury Penn for service and purchases many time since my last review . . ., and its been the same, consistently great service and gear that the non-cycle-gear-head usually coughs up big bucks for, and dont know if they are getting a solid deal. I know that I dangled a preposition in that last sentence. Sorry. But, I am never sorry that I went with Penn. Thanks, all. Jim

Bought two bikes and love them!! Brought them in for tune-ups and they told me a three day wait but they were done with them the next day. I am sure they make mistakes like the other guy was saying but I havent seen any. They would get five stars but I did have to actually pay for them and I didnt get them for free!! Lol
