Downtown Bicycles, in my experience, offers the best and friendliest service period. Ive been to shops around the Twin Cities area who may have a bigger shop, more shops, more bikes, etc....but they all pale in comparison to the quality of service and attention you get here. Tom and his staff seem to truly care about each person who walks in the door. They are motivated to form a long standing customer relationship and not just a one-time sale based upon a big discount. If you live in the local area, you are LUCKY to have a shop like this around the corner...if you are up in the Twin Cities...you owe it to yourself to drive a few miles to this great little town and get the experience like no other bike shop within 100s of miles. FYI - I rented a Cannondale Slate from Tom for 2 days of gravel riding...WOW, what an awesome machine! Amazing all around bike...go get one here!

Had my road bike tuned up there, I have a road bike with mountain bike gearing so its rather fickle. Tom did a wonderful job adjusting the gearing so no more jumps to another gear. I liked this store so much I got a part time job there. I love the small town feel the shop has and proud of the wonderful service Tom gives to every customer. His enthusiasm is contagious, so much that I find myself planning more rides and even trying gravel. Give this shop a try, youll be glad you did!

A fantastic bike shop, and one of the best small businesses in Northfield. Tom, the owner, is great at selling, maintaining, and fixing bikes - and at riding them too. His staff is equally good. Among other brands, Tom carries Salsa, Bianchi, and Cannondale. He usually stocks new road and gravel bikes as well as mountain and fatbikes, as well as a lot of bike equipment, gear, and clothing and some used bikes. This is definitely the best place to get a bike in Northfield!

Excellent service and advice when we purchased a new bike in August and even better customer service and help when my sons wheels were stolen in October on campus! Downtown Bicycles went above and beyond to help, picking up the remains of the bike from campus and found solutions for even better security for new wheels. We live 1800 miles away, so it was awesome to have the folks at Downtown graciously help us out! Thanks!!

I stopped in last weekend to check out this new storefront and to check on options for replacing my dying Asics trainers, and found my new favorite running/athletic source. Great product line, knowledgeable advice, and not pushy at all. Tom is great to work with, and their efforts to support local athletic-oriented charities are great too. Looking forward to my new pair of Karhu trainers arriving soon!

Beautiful bike shop with friendly, talented people! The rear wheel of my bike got jammed on a sunny Saturday afternoon; I immediately went to Mikes Bikes but no one was in, so I went to Downtown Bicycles instead. I was seen promptly and in a few seconds Tom had my bike working perfectly. Excellent service - Ill definitely be back!

Tom knows bikes. There is no place better to go for bike repairs or shopping for just the right bike. The service is outstanding and when I brought our bike in for a tune up we were only charged for the work that was required. If you want to know about the area and want the most professional place in town to do it than this is it.

My bike was having shifting problems. Came in they took care of me immediately. Fixed my bike the 1st time perfectly. I was commenting on uncomfortable my bike is. They should me a great model that was very comfortable to ride. I was very impressed. I highly recommend you stop in for a look.
