Edit/Update: Ive lowered my rating, my previous review, when this was a Lowes Grocery, is below. This is now a Food King. I hate this store now. It used to have a good bulk foods section, a reasonable selection of organic foods, a variety of interesting produce (e.g., nopales, poblanos, brussel sprouts, tomatillos, etc.), and a decent beer selection. This store has converted to a Food King and is missing most of that now, beer selection is still ok though. My wife and I were considering moving to the neighborhood that that store is in because it is a pedestrian friendly location. Now its a trashy bargain bin for low quality food and cheap skate undergrads. Begin old review: I like this grocery store, but they insist on putting six packs of beer in a plastic bag. They either say that its "the law", which is not true, or they say "store policy". In the latter case it is a stupid store policy. Lubbock has a very real litter problem, its the number one thing I do not like about Lubbock. Plastic bags are not the only litter problem, but they are an easy problem to fix. Itd be nice to see all the grocery stores in Lubbock collectively decide to not offer plastic bags, itd be on small but very positive step to improving the look of this town. *full disclosure, I do use reusable grocery bags, but on occasion I buy more groceries than I have bags for. In these cases I tell the checkout worker to not bag my beer, this is where the issue lies.

The previous version of this store was Lowes Corner Market--Food King is associated. We had a quiet neighborhood--Tech Terrance/UNIT. Food King has changed all of that. Parking is a problem. The small stores across the street are having their parking spaces taken by Food King shoppers, ignoring the signs that their cars will be towed. The clientele is not from our neighborhood. Note: There are a lot of Texas Tech professors/employees/students who shopped this store in the past. Three weeks ago, a person was shot and killed at Wagner Park over a bad drug deal. One resident noticed a man smoking crack in the Food King parking lot. One resident noticed an altercation in the Food King parking lot. This Food King is across the street from Rosco Wilson Elementary School and that school will suffer from overflow parking issues from Food King. I suspect my neighbors join with me in agreeing that this Food King store at this location is a threat to the safety of our once quiet neighborhood. The question is: Will Food King take the civic responsibility of correcting this problem? This store is a nuisance property. If you choose to shop there be careful of the time of day and the day you shop.

There were some beers that apparently exploded during transportation and so some of the beers that were on the shelves had been sprayed with beer and mold had started to grow on some of the six packs. I pointed this out to management and assumed that they would of cleaned or gotten rid of this moldy product. I returned a week later to buy beer and the same moldy six packs from before were still on the shelves. Why should i pay the higher prices of this grocery store if management clearly does not care about the quality of products or customer service.

I go here often. Mainly because of its convenient location. Prices are high, but when you consider the gas you would spend diving to all the other stores it works out. I was in earlier today and one of their employees almost choked to death. All of the other employees handled the situation very well. The man turned out to be ok, and was just released from the hospital. Overall, I really enjoy this store. Quick and Convenient.

I live a block away Very good small community driven grocery store. Integral to the areas "micro district"; just as J&B Coffee. Recently renovated and very very nice. Checkout is always expedient. However, theyre prices are very very high compared to Market St on 50th and even United. Prices aside, best in Lubbock for that feeling of being connected to the local community.

The store was remodeled like 3 months ago and looks a lot nicer. The produce is pretty good price. When they have stuff on sale theyre really good prices. Like I got 2lbs of real shredded cheddar cheese not too long ago for only $6. Meats are ok priced but good quality (Id still suggest Market Street for that though). Wal-Mart beats most of their other prices though.

The staff is wonderful. They make the place. The offerings are decent, and even with the 10% markup at checkout, prices are good. The store is, however, very crowded with its merchandise and a bit overwhelming with its "SALE!" signs everywhere.

Since they became the Food King they are always overcrowded alot of the people that work here on 26th street look at you like why are you here it was so much better when it was the quiet and quaint Lowes and Lowes had awesome customer service.

This is a good place to stop and grab the essentials like milk and bread. Its not the best place to buy produce. The parking lot is small and seems to be used more by the surrounding businesses. So, sometimes its difficult to find a spot.

Great prices, but check your receipts. I bought 10 cans of tuna and they charged me for 17! Also, not terribly handicap friendly-aisles are hard to navigate in the store scooters. Scooters are also frequently out of order.

This Food King store is in violation of ADA access policies. Items on the top shelves 6 feet plus are not reachable by people with disabilities. In addition, heavier items are being stored on the upper shelves.

I love this little store. They have all the basics and good beer and wine selection. Fantastic place to go for a few things rather than braving a bigger store

Very convenient location. Lubbock should have business like this in every neighborhood. A bit pricy though, but the location beats that.

Reeks of cigarette smoke. Prices listed are not what you pay at the register. Theres a 10% fee tacked on, a preditory practice.

This store is not that organized, you have to ask the staff to being items from the back. They stock the store as they work.

Best prices on a lot of items! They beat most stores on certain sales, but they dont always have a huge selection.

Very convenient, local grocery store. Great prices and friendly staff. However its size does limit its inventory.
