Yes my dear confused Californians. You can buy this, you can eat this, despite the low, low prices it is top quality. Back in Germany ALDI has been around since the 1950s and have won millions over with no-brand quality. Yet, this is certainly not the Aldi of my youth. Not a single shipping pallet in sight. (They unceremoniously dump them right in the stores in Europe). Not bags of exploded flour or dried up jam on the floor that makes it look like a crime scene. Instead a place as spic-and-span as it gets, crawling with staff that is extremely well groomed and trained, friendly, helpful and squared away. Stunning. Lots of fresh, good produce, dairy and some meats. Item selection is a bit-and-miss. Gorgeous, dirt-cheap beets and peppers sit next to sad tomatoes. And why do they have Lychies, but no leeks or green onions? Yet the wine and chocolate departments and sandwich-items would look really good in a Whole Foods. Yet, Californians are still a bit confused. Glass lids on freezer bins (for energy savings) confounded more than one fellow shopper, and the concept of a deposit for your cart seems entirely alien to them. Funnily carts dropped in remote areas become nuclei for others to leave theirs in the same spot, aggregating them in areas where employees will have a hard time to corral the cart-train back to the story. Me thinks this will not fly in CA. As opposed to the One-Euro-Coin needed in Germany ($1.20), a quarter seems to be too little money for Angelenos to care. Even in piss-poor Inglewood.

Over all a good deal if you get the specials but make sure to check your local 99 only store and discount grocery market. For example the meat at aldi is never marked down when it hits the sell by date. Instead of giving it 50% off like safeway Aldi would rather throw it away then give you perishable food at a discount so meat is not actually a bargain at Aldi i get it 30-50% cheaper at safeway. The fact that Aldi has a policy to throw away food before discounting it is extremely wasteful, and foolish. The produce is only a bargain when on special. For example I purchased 10 pounds of organic grapes at 99 only today for 99 cents a pound was 2.49 a pound at aldi. I would have paid $25 at aldi vs $10 at 99 only. So just check prices and compare but realize Aldi is not always a low price leader.

I LOVE this store! First thing I noticed when I walked in was how clean and organized everything was. Initially I only went in to poke my nose around and get a feel for the store, but when I saw the prices I quickly made my way out front to rent a cart and get shopping. Most of the brands sold there are private label or store brand, so dont go there looking for the usual Knudsen or Betty Crocker products youd find at Vons or Ralphs. However its no big deal since the private labels are (ino) just as good if not better than some major retail staples. If youve ever shopped at Food 4 Less you probably wont be too upset by this but yes, you do having to bag you own groceries (at a separate bagging table) but if it keeps the price of a half gallon of milk at $1.62, I certainly dont mind.

ALDI is pretty dope. The store is clean, the prices for most of their items are $1-$2 cheaper than at a mainstream grocery store such as Ralphs, Wal-Mart or Food 4 Less. No long line when I was there, also they have Naked Juice (16 oz) for $2.59 and the 32 oz for $3.89 (about half the price of a 64 oz container). They DO NOT have bags, so bring your own bags, and use the bagging tables. Also make sure to bring a couple quarters with you for the Shopping Cart; you put your quarter into this little slot for the cart then you unhook it, and then when youve put the shopping cart back then your quarter is returned to you. Overall ALDI is a good place, not as much stuff as Ralphs or Food 4 Less but its still a cool place to shop

Great store for your weekly staples at affordable price. Has some items that you might want to try out at reasonable price. Weekly finds are great but because they are first come first served, these items disappear fast. Fresh produce and a good selection of your basic organic needs. Lay out of the store is great. There is no excess cluster. This store doesnt carry too many item, which is great because choosing an item is not overwhelming. The store is clean, adequately staffed and most of the time well stocked. Employees are friendly and helpful. I love that I can get in and out.

Love Aldi! Someone told me the owners of this chain and Trader Joes, are brothers nonetheless if you agree with quality food at an unbeatable price then this is your market. 80% of the items in our home, are now from Aldi. The store does not carry many BRAND names! But there are names: Millville (general mills), Princess pasta, Clancys, Chefs Cupboard, Bakers corner, etc. Anyway, to top it all off there is a double back guarantee! Oh yea look for the red price tags, these indicate low, low prices and its a limited item! Well Im done go see for yourself. Happy shopping!

Recently discovered this supermarket... I was pissed off at the beginning because you need to insert a quarter to be able to use a cart... I thought it was outrageous...! Later discovered that it was a way to gently ask you to return the cart to the storage area, and I thought that was a clever move. I was happily surprised by their prices... very competitive compared with Trader Joes for example. And I was surprised by their (small) selection of frozen dishes... tried several and all are really good... most gluten free! Now its my first stop when needing to buy food.

This is the way shopping should be. A quarter for cart is a catch that will make a customer return the cart after shopping than leaving it in the parking lot 16oz bluberries for 79¢, 1 dozen eggs for 69¢, Breads at the cheapest price which are sold at other stores for $7 and up. Great selection of wines, and all items with Double on them meant - if you dont like it, they will double Bravo for the care given to cashiers -they have to sit while checking - not easy working standing and checking Try to visit and fall in Love, super clean and great prices.

Aldi has great prices on groceries. They have several organic options and also in the regular articles from their house brands they are cutting out a big list of pesticides and things you might want to avoid. And you will even find a couple special German products. This market is very clean and well arranged. Just be prepared to have a quarter to take a shopping cart. This is Aldis way of having people return the shopping carts and not leave them cluttered around the parking lot to get your quarter back. The checkout is very fast and efficient.

I l-l-love this place! Only reason I give it four stars (not five) is because its kind of a drive for us since we live in Mid-City... Well worth the drive, nonetheless. But dont go if youre running late because youre definitely going to get stuck walking up and down every single aisle. Mushroom pasta sauce is $0.99 and it was delicious!! Got sandwich bread for $0.85 and a huge pack of corn tortillas for $1.49 -- I can easily do my two week grocery haul here from now on. Hoping the grocery Gods will place a store in Mid-City or Culver City soon!
