The service manager’s labor policy is a rip-off. He has each service priced separately to include parts and labor regardless of combining labor costs. An honest auto mechanic will give a break on labor if part of the work has already been done. For instance (and not the work I had done), to repair and replace wheel bearings, the wheels must be removed, the bearings pulled and replaced. If the mechanic notices that there is a leak in the brake line, he can make that repair – once the work is authorized by the owner – and not charge the normal labor rate for a brake line repair since most of the labor (the removing of the wheel and shroud) has already been done. Cost of repairs (as an example, not using actual costs): wheel bearing repair $60 plus parts. Brake line repair $60 plus parts. That is one-hour rate for two separate issues of labor plus the cost of the parts. An honest mechanic will not charge two hours labor plus parts because, since the work of taking off the wheel is already done, most of the labor cost has already been recouped by the service department. An honest service manager will always combine the labor charges already done with the additional for an extra service. In the example given: the labor would be $70-$90 instead of $120. This service manager increases his profits unfairly by charging $120, in the example given. I complained online to Toyota and the service manager called. In my specific case, I paid $240 just to get a repair estimate. I had assumed the service manager would be honest and he would reprimand the service writer for not adhering to policy. Instead he explained that is his policy. I went in again for another Toyota I own. The same service writer took great care to explain how to give him a good review and totally neglected to correctly explain the underlying issues cause the need for repair. He also used inaccurate terms to explain the problem - he thinks inside tire wear is the same as “cupping”. Two completely different issues. So, incompetence plus dishonesty.

Horrible place to buy a used car. We came in and bought a 2009 Camry. We looked it over, found out that the car had a bumper issue. It was bulging out. We asked for that to be repaired. We also noticed the fluids were low so we asked them to add the fluids. They showed us what was done to the car after the got it back from the lease. On their invoice it showed they replaced the air filter, oil filter/change, cabin filter, did an overall inspection. So we looked those items over and found the cabin filter was not replaced. It was filthy! We asked them to get all of the items previously mentioned done prior to signing the purchase agreement. They said they would do it. We thought it was a done deal. After signing the purchase agreement, they kept the car and said they needed to take care of those items we mentioned. We came back the next day to pick up the car, we saw that they fixed the bumper so in our mind they took care of everything so we did not look to see if they did everything else. While driving home, we turned on the air because it was hot. The smell that came out was muggy. When we got home, we decided to check the filter. Opps, they didnt do what they promised!!!! Then we went to check if the fluids were topped off, oh wow, what a surprise, they didnt do it either. We called them up and said we would bring the car back for them to take care of those items. They agreed. We brought it back the next day. Waited about an hour before getting the car back. We thought okay, everything should be taken care of. Wrong!! What they did was used compressed air to blow out the cabin filter debris, it didnt get all of the dirt that was already trapped in there and they never topped off the fluids. I do not recommend anyone buying a used car from this place. They are not trust worthy! Toyotas are good cars! People that service them are horrible!

We have been dealing with Ken Harris and Burnsville Toyota for several years, we are now on our 4 lease vehicle and first purchased vehicle from them as of last night. We were starting to look at getting out of a 2014 Toyota Camry lease early due to a growing family. We had negative equity in the car from a previous lease and knew we would have trouble which is why we wanted to start now. We drove a venza and thought it was amazing so we decided to run numbers. That SUV didnt work out. We then started to discuss re-leasing which is what we wanted to avoid at all costs to break this cycle. However with the financial side, re-leasing was our best option. We ended up signing a new lease for a new 2017 Rav4, Its beautiful and more then i could have ever expected. My husband came for support and while we were trying to work out the numbers on my Rav4 they struck up a conversation about my husbands older Chevrolet truck and how he was looking at possibly trading it in for a newer used Tacoma. While we ran my paperwork, Ken said there was a new used Tacoma that had been traded in earlier in the day that he said we should take a look at. He went to grab it and we looked it over and drove it. The truck was in amazing shape, very well maintained and clean. We ran the numbers on that for giggles and before we knew it, we walked out of Burnsville with a new 2017 Rav4 leave and a 2011 Tacoma. Never expected anything like that to happen. Ken Harris and all involved last night were amazing. Helpful and kind and willing to bend over backwards to get the job done and just the way you want it. Price and Vehicles involved. I will never go anywhere else to buy or lease. I will recommend Burnsville Toyota to everyone i know.

Got a coupon for oil change, thought I would give them a try. Very disappointed. 1) they asked if I would like my tires rotated (like Tires Plus does for free when I get my oil changed there). Luckily I asked if it was free or not - no, they were going to charge for that, but did not mention any charge when "offering" it to me. 2) They said I needed both back lights replaced. I asked how much, they said $60! I passed, went to WalMart & got both bulbs for $5. I opened the back of my Highlander, and removed both bulbs in under a minute - very easy access. The kicker here is NEITHER BULB WAS BAD - I put the originals back in, tested all functions (turn signals, brake light, running light, etc), and both bulbs were just fine, and still are, more than a month later. That stinks of quota sales, not service. ... I am currently in need of about $800 worth of work on my Highlander, but these guys are not going to get my business.... The sad part is prior to this, I had 2 very positive interactions with their service Dept telling me to save my money: A) I didnt need to replace the timing belt that Tires Plus said I did, and; B) when I drove to the service center at 90,000 miles to have my plugs replaced (my previous Toyota needed new plugs at 90K), they said no need, these plugs are good until 125,000, so save your money & go home. THESE 2 experiences are why I decided to try "Dealer Service" with the oil change, but that experience left me feeling like they were trying to take advantage of me. [as an aside, changing plugs in a 2005 V6 Highlander costs about $475-$500 - same quote from multiple places - that is insane]
