I came across Cycle Loft while doing research on a particular brand of bike, also known more honestly as "bike lust". I became intrigued by some of the services they were offering including fitness testing, (e.g. VO2 max), and custom fitting with first rate fitters. My wife and I made the trip to Burlington from downtown Boston and found a staff and an owner dedicated to the customer, to building relationships, to treating each client as a valued customer from day one. The advice and attention we have received has been smart, individualized, and consistently on target. In the interest of keeping this short I will say that: 1. My wife no longer has knee pain when cycling. 2. My fitness level and cycling smarts have increased more than incrementally. 3. I have test ridden and re-tested bikes in finding the right bike for me with Cycle Lofts owner pushing me to be thorough, as opposed to pushing me to quickly make up my mind so he could make a sale. 4. This thoroughness has enabled me to make a clear decision with no "what ifs". 5. And get this: After purchasing a bike Cycle Loft and their staff advocated with the bike manufacturer to make sure I got the best possible bike when they felt all was not as it should be. In other words, they were a better advocate for me than I was for myself. What I have with Cycle Loft now is trust, and in the world of biking with bikes, accessories, and accoutrements befitting an equipment intensive sport and hobby, this trust in invaluable. While I do have a car I use it minimally, paradoxically usually for cycling related events. We are a "keep it as local as possible" family. For me, the drive to Burlington has been more than worth it. That said, I have already mapped out the bike route Ill be using from Boston to Burlington for my trips to Cycle Loft, on my new, intelligently fitted bike.! Ah..bike lust fulfilled!

I cannot say enough about the service at this store!! As a beginner, I was hesitant to even go in and look around- let alone purchase and ride my new bike. However, from the moment I walked in the door, I was treated with nothing but respect. Every person we interacted with was happy and enthusiastic to share their knowledge of cycling. Nate was our primary contact and ushered us through every step necessary to go from confused to confident. The amount of time that was spent with us (FREE OF CHARGE!!!) amazed us. I would say that the information and training that we received was even better than taking a cycling class because it was individualized. The frosting on the cake was when the owner just happened to run into us on the way out (after the store was supposed to be closed) and asked how we liked our new bikes. During our converation, he noticed that I didnt quite love the gold wrap on my handlebars. He insisted that they re-wrap them immediately- told me that they wanted me to love my new bike. 10 mins. later (even further past closing time), I had black-wrapped handlebars and had completed the most amazing sales experience of my life. The energy and passion at the Cycle Loft clearly starts at the top and trickles down to all the employees...and I thank you for it!

These guys have a great facility and a good selection but their employees suck. They bad-mouthed a bike that was bought from their facility because it was oily and looked "trashed in their words. Its a daily commuter bike that is a year old so it received a ton of punishment, but to put it down was not very professional. We took the bike in, while its still under manufacture warranty mind you. and asked them if they could warranty the pedal and possibly look at a defective rear shifter. Right off the bat they wanted $150 service fee for looking tuning the bike up. I said that the bike is already tuned and that we needed them to possibly warranty the defective parts. They said that without the tune up they cannot look at it. Total BS. Granted they do good work at servicing bikes but they are greedy at looking at specific problems. Ironically I told the story to Specialized and they sent out replacement pedals and a rear derailleur right off the bat, no questions asked. I hate bike shops like this. I understand they need to make money but charging $150 to look at a bike that is worth maybe $200 is ridiculous. I reported the incident to Specialized.

very bad repair quality: had my mountain bike for a general service and repair of the front disk brake and change of both brake pads. the front disk used to slightly break all the time because the brak pad piston would not retract fully. after their "repair" the front disk brake AND the rear disk brake have the same problem! in addition the rear break gives a loud squeaking noise everytime I brake. it didnt have that problem before! the general service was supposed to adjust the grears. noew the gear dont switch precisely anymore. in addition the braek lever was so badly adjusted that the lever would touch the handle and the gear switch when breaking. for whatever reason the rear shock had almost no airpressure. they were not supposed to touch the shocks since they are not part of the general service. it took me about 1 hr to adjust gears and brakes just to get the bike working again. the problem with the brake pistons not retracting is still not fixed. I paid $155 for this "service" and will have to pay more to get my brakes fixed someplace else. All in all: incompetent. do not let them service your bike!

This place has absolutely amazing customer service. A few weeks ago I was visiting Boston on vacation having shipped two bikes via FedEx from California. Unfortunately the shipping didnt go very well and both bikes showed up with some form of damage and/or missing parts. I showed up at the Cycle Loft as soon as their doors opened with two unrideable bikes and ask for last minute help. I was leaving Boston later that day so I really didnt have time to drop my bikes off for a multi-day wait. The shop techs were extremely helpful and were able to resolve all of my issues within an hour or so. They spent time digging around for an obscure part that I needed for my power meter and even scavenged another part from an unassembled bike just to get me on my way quickly. All this help and they didnt even charge me for labor... just parts. I really cant say enough about their service and attitude toward helping customers. Use this shop... you wont regret it!

Fantastic quick, friendly bike repair. After calling around to other bike shops from Newton, to Waltham to Belmont and getting the answer that our bikes would be held hostage for weeks to get them fixed, I got the answer "week and a half" from Cycle Loft but the best part was THEY MAKE APPOINTMENTS so you dont have to be without your bike while it waits to be looked at and then came the best best part -- I brought the bikes in for evaluation and to make the appointment and they fixed one on the spot (for free!) and the other one they kept but said it would be done by the end of the day (replace gear shifter on the handlebars - $15 parts. $30 labor). The wait was short It was a beautiful spring Sunday and there was a steady stream of customers but they were all served quickly. This is a big, 2-story, modern place that is really well stocked and the repair department is really spacious and well equipped and staffed.
