Very disappointed. I took in my prescription to get mild wrap-around daily wear glasses. The man helped me find a nice frame, and we sat and had a long discussion of what I wanted. I wanted grey tint (gun metal frames), but only light as these would be full-time indoor glasses. He didnt have a color sample, but we compared two lenses and he said the tint would be between the two. That was fine. He assured me if it was too dark they could redo the tint to a lighter shade. Three days later they were ready. What he gave me was blue lens sunglasses. A full sun-glass tint!! The fit and look was what I wanted, but this was way too dark. These were darker than my sunglasses in the car. I told him I would give them a trial, but within a few days I was sure I would be back to get the tint reduced. Then he tells me that these are polarized lenses and cant have the intensity of color changed. I never requested polarized. I am a nature photographer and use polarized filters on my camera most of the time. There is no way to mix 2 polarized lenses - you go to black. I left in total shock. As sunglasses these are nice, except for polarization. But these are not daily wear by any standard.

I highly commend Dr. Hughes for helping diagnose a very rare allergic reaction, and for his knowledge and professional demeanor during my eye exam. However, I have had a poor experience with the eyeglass shop. After an exam, I left my favorite pair of frames to get new lenses fitted. The price was reasonable, but I did not hear back from the shop by the time I was told to expect. After three weeks, I called and was told they were not ready yet, and I would receive a call when they were. Four weeks after leaving the frames with them, I still had not heard back as promised, so I called. I was informed my frames would be ready soon. Another week later I still hadnt heard. I called, and was told (after much confusion) that my frames had been lost. They did offer me a new pair of frames at no cost, and assured me they would be ready within a couple business days. The date they promised has passed, and they still arent ready. I havent had anyone contact me proactively with any information and Ive had to check in to get any status updates. I may likely continue to get my exams here, but I am not likely to purchase frames or lenses here again.

I got my first pair of glasses when I was 8 years old. They have taken care of my family and I from day one. The doctor is very nice, the place is clean and organized. The staff is super helpful and they are open on Saturday. I would never go anywhere else and just to put into perspective how much they will go above and beyond let me tell you a little story. I bought a pair of coach glasses 10 years ago and LOVED them. But as everyone knows frames do not last forever and they finally broke (totally my fault). I went back and bought a similar pair (my old ones are discontinued). I only had them a couple of months and they broke in a strange spot so I called to ask about a manufactures warranty. Mike said bring them in let me take a look. I knew these babies werent fixable and I was broke after getting my car out of the shop. Without even asking they replaced my the broken ones and sent me on my way... Just like that, BAM! Im back in action :) If you are new to the area or just looking for a great place to do business then look no further this is the place!!

I had such good expectations for this place but ended up being really let down. This was my first eye exam in years because Ive had generally good vision, but lately things have been a tad blurry. The eye exam seemed to go well, but then the doctor abruptly dropped me off at the receptionist desk without any explanation that the exam was over nor how to proceed. Did I need glasses? Did I need contacts? I dont know. The receptionist saw my prescription that I guess the doc just wrote for me and proceeded to ask me, "okay so you just need new glasses?" I responded, "uh, Ive never worn glasses or contacts in my life...the doc didnt tell me anything..." It was obvious she was just as confused as me. The receptionists were nice about it and understood my frustration but after taking my phone number and promising to call me back after theyd talked to the doc about the ordeal, I have yet to hear from them. I guess a new customer wasnt worth their time.

I lost my glasses 3 days before I went to Hatcher. I ended up going to 4 different eye care centers and calling probably a dozen more and not a single one of them were as helpful or polite as the folks at Hatcher (except maybe John from Sears). I went to Hatcher because I found out after getting an eye exam done at Vision Works that they were one of 3 places in town to get glasses same day (the other two are Vision Works and Hour Glass). Vision Works wanted $389.99 for a pair of glasses (whose frame cost $69.99), which was far more than I was willing to pay so I left with just the prescription. Hatcher was able to get me a better quality of glasses (lenses were polycarbonite and had UV protection while Vision Works was going to give me plastic, heavy lenses), better customer service, and quicker turn around time (around an hour) at almost exactly one third of the price, $130.97. Also, the building and layout are amazing.

Great place. Convenient hours. Accepted my vision insurance. Very helpful and thorough exam from Dr. Hughes. Great selection of frames, and great service. The place is definitely not one of those chain clinics. These guys are the real deal and are in business for the right reasons. With humana vision care plan, paid $120 total for exam, copay, frames, lenses (and my prescription is THICK, usually costing 200-250 for lenses elsewhere). What a deal and a great experience. Everyone was very willing to help and explain things to you. Also, they were all easy to talk to rather than sitting in silence getting air puffed into your eyes

I will never come back to this place again. It took them over 4 WEEKS to get my contact lens order. Other places usually only take 2 weeks max. They didnt even bother to call me when they received my order, I had to call them several times. Nobody ever greets you when you walk into the store and the old lady at reception needs to go. After I got my contact lens, she refused to print a receipt because "were busy and it will take too long to enter into the computer". She offered to email me a receipt at the end of the day, but of course that never happened. The only competent person here is the Optometrist (Dr. Hughes)

The optician was a very nice man and seemed very thorough in measuring my vision. The elderly secretary however is extremely curt, to say the least, if you dont want to buy your glasses in the store. She gave me a huge amount of attitude when I mentioned it when scheduling the appointment, then again when I asked for my prescription and a third time when I had to call for clarification on the prescription. I paid $80 for my eye exam, it was not a free service, and I think that this treatment just because I cant afford to spend another $200 on glasses (that I can get online for $20) is unacceptable.
