I have been shopping at Norcross Supply for over 15 years. I went in the other day, around May 20 or so to purchase a Cedar 10 6X6 post. There were 4 left from the previous stack on top of a new stack of posts. The 4 were in really bad shape and I explained to the yard worker I could not accept any of those four. I asked if he could please open up the new stack so I could get a better choice. He called for the yard foreman over the radio. The yard foreman came into the warehouse with an obvious chip on his shoulder and told me I had to take the post the yard worker wanted to give me originally. That post was so bad the worker actually put his fingers through the knot holes to pick it up. I told the foreman I was just going to get a refund and come back another time. He went completely beligerent on me and told me to never come back, that I needed to find somewhere else to shop. I told him I would tell the front office what he just said to me. He then gets on the internal radio to the front office and yells to them that I am coming in for a refund and he that he told me to begin shopping elsewhere. I really thought I would go into the office and they would have apologized for the foremans behavior, but instead the office mgr took his side while the rest of the staff cowed down and staired at ther desks. Pitifull. 15 years of loyalty down the tubes. I took the foremans advice and now go to a Lumber yard in Woodstock that carries Cedar. The owner not only walked me to what I needed, but he said pick your lumber, then helped me load it into my truck. A longer drive but the quality is suprisingly much better and the lower prices make it worth the trip. Oh, and the yard foreman wont berate you.

I first went to their website and made an inquiry for a quote on some cedar. I never got a response. But I decided on pressure treated decking so I called and Tim Dove (he likes to call you "Buddy") didnt know what #2 Prime was. He must have thought "prime" was the chemicals. He takes my order and I gave him the freedom to schedule the delivery for any day except Friday. He setup for the next Monday so I took that day off work - but it didnt come. I called around 5pm and he said he was going to call me. Tells me they didnt have it in inventory .... What? So fine. He tells me he will get it to me the next day. Didnt come. Wednesday morning at 7am a truck wakes everyone up in the neighborhood. I go out to tell the delivery guy its 2 days late. He told me what I was thinking... theres no reason for it. After I get my delivery - 2 weeks later, I get a response from the website. Miran Hadzic did not know that Port Orford is a TYPE of cedar and not a BRAND. And I thought they specialized in cedar. Does anyone know anything over there? Does anyone know how to do basic business? I cannot recommend them to anyone. And they sold me the same ProWood brand lumber that Home Depot sells after I specifically asked Tim if they had anything else. But he didnt know so I took whatever they had. Lowes has better lumber. Prowood is probably the bigger brand now. But it sucks. It comes very green and wet (chemicals) and it twists and warps like crazy when it dries.

I considered both the company itself as well as the product when writing this review. Overall I gave them a low rating of 2 stars because although the company and price were reasonable, the product itself and their work was sub par and ultimately as a consumer, I need a product that fits what I need From a company perspective, they were very flexible, helpful an knowledgeable with their products, especially for someone who does not usually purchase cedar. I was able to call them up and quickly get a hold of someone and then they were able to cut boards to my needs very quickly and had me ready to go within the same day. Pricing definitely was not the cheapest around but was also not the most expensive either From a product perspective, the wood wasnt the best quality having purchased 1x6 wood which, as other reviewers noted, warped tremendously once it dried and also I would say about 10-15% of the wood was in terrible shape with either torn sides or one side of the board not being finished properly. This obviously had to be rejected as I was using the material for fencing. They also cut the material down to 6 feet but did not have any 6 material so cut down 18 piece I believe. They stated that each would be within an inch of each other but I found as I placed the posts up that they varied within 3 inches of each other which made for an odd fence when put up.

I recently visited this store for 2 pcs of long timber to do a repair on a project and was told in a confrontational manner I wasnt allowed to pick out or disapprove the materials from what appeared to be the warehouse manager. I was never greeted with an introduction of a name or title but immediately told I couldnt pick through the materials. I was then told they do not need my money and credited my purchase back. I tried to speak to the store manager and found his attitude was worse than the yard manager. The manager wasnt concerned with anything I might have to say. He only tried to point to a sign about picking through their materials and made comment about spending to much time with this which was less than a minute in front of me. My issue wasnt about picking through the timber but how it was handled from the employee in the warehouse. Ive purchased material here for many years and was surprised to find the customer service to be the worst of any retailer Ive visited. As a home builder and remodeling contractor I will no longer be doing any business here and will not allow products sold from here to be installed on houses or other jobs. They are not the only lumber yard in town nor are they the least expensive. I would beware of your time and money if you are looking for their best.

I have been purchasing from Norcross Supply for many years. My last job was smaller. 20 pieces of 20 foot cedar for a deck on my personal home. Five of those pieces had fork lift imprents, holes missing chewed on the edges and were not useable. Now again today, May 15th, 2013 my contractor went back to Norcross Supply to purchase 20 more 20 foot cedar pieces. When he attempted to look at the material that was being loaded he was advised that customer dont get to chose which pieces they get. When he stated the quality issue previously he was refunded the purchase amount and ask to leave the property. I called and spoke with Mike Shook who presented hisself as VP of Norcross Supply. He indicated that is the policy of Norcross Supply that customers dont get to inspect the quality of the material they are receiving. Keep in mind you sign a receipt that states the material is in good shape when leaving the premise. Mr. Shooks attitude around this was errogant. I nor any of my business asspociates especially contractors will be doing business here. You should beware !!!!
