I first want to note that Dr. Birdsong was fine and my glasses turned out as they should have. My issues were with their outrageous hidden prices and the hovering, overly-chatty associate that latched on to me for the duration of my entire shopping ordeal. I made the mistake of purchasing a Groupon that promised $350 towards frames, lenses, and a prescription for $65. Ive been wearing glasses for 15 years or so and have gone through several pairs, so I thought I knew what to expect price-wise. Maybe I would have to pay a little extra to get the frames I wanted, but nothing I was worried about. As I browsed before my appointment, I noticed that none of the frames had prices on them. (Big Red Flag.) In order to try on any of the frames, I had to have the associate unlock them from the wall for me. She took this as an invitation to be my personal shopper/new best friend, pressuring opinions from me and selecting frames for me that *she* liked. It made my whole shopping experience feel rushed and stressful, when I much rather would have liked to browse quietly on my own. When I asked about pricing, she said shed have to calculate it and couldnt give me a quote right away. Um...okay. Being one who likes to keep the peace, I said that as long as it wasnt, like, $400, ha ha ha (because that would be OUTRAGEOUS), it was probably fine. She laughed and changed the subject. *We* finally narrowed it down to two, and I selected my favorite of the pair. She sat me down, typed a bunch of stuff into her computer, and through that same phony smile that had been plastered on her face the entire time, she told me that my total was $389 and some change. WHAT PART OF "NOT, LIKE, $400" DIDNT YOU UNDERSTAND??? That means that sans-Groupon, the whole package was "worth" over $700! I asked her to tell me the price on my second-favorite pair, and that brought it down to a whopping $229. I think I might have looked like I was about to cry, because she said I could put down a deposit of $120 and pay off the balance when I picked up my glasses. I reluctantly handed her my debit card. "Or more!" she said. "You can put more down if you want to!" Who is this lady and what planet did she come from? Probably the same one as the other associate, who I observed hovering over another customer much in the same way. What a scam.

The Dr was very nice, in fact everyone was nice, but their sales approach is scamlike...They do not have prices on the glasses and they say that the prices are not readily available...The sales approach feels like a con...I purchased my daughters glasses from there and they stated that they could not show me the glasses that my insurance company would cover fully because they dont know the prices off hand. So they encouraged my daughter and I to select WHATEVER WE LIKED and of course whatever we liked all cost several hundred dollars without the lenses. It wasnt until we were about to leave that they started to help us find glasses that were anywhere close to our insurance coverage. Were all adults...we all know the difference between clarity and good business practices and aggressive sales that can feel like they are bordering on con... In the same breathe...I did buy my daughters glasses from there and I am going to take another pair of frames to them and have my prescription filled by them. . .the energy was overall good..>But the sales approach is definitely unscrupulous and aggressive about making you overspend. . .bad business practice at its core but a great location and pleasant staff...

Terrible Experience. This is one of the few places I have bothered to write a review about. The following are a few of the many reasons I will never return to Eyeworks of Atlanta or recommend it to anyone. I was lured in to Eyeworks of Atlanta by a GroupOn deal. Right off the bat I had several issues over the phone in terms of scheduling an appointment. These issues included getting hung up on, and having the wrong day scheduled. But i figured hey, I already payed $65 and everyone makes mistakes. In store, the staff and optometrist seemed pleasant and friendly enough however, the total price of glasses with the GroupOn deal was shocking....I ended up walking out after the eye exam! Priced at $200-$250 dollars for a single pair plus the $65 I had already spent on the GroupOn deal.....these glasses were outrageous especially when considering the quality of the frames. A single plastic frame was priced at $275 dollars......"savings" riiiiight. Even more ridiculous was the quoted price without the GroupOn deal $430-$500 on average. Bottom Line: Expect to pay $400 - $500 easily for a single pair of glasses. Do not go here looking to take advantage of a GroupOn deal.

This is the first time I have ever gotten online to write a review about someone, I normally dont waste my time but when I called in to see if they accepted my insurance and how much it would cost before I made an appointment, and their receptionist answered the phone he was VERYYY rude, most places will gladly look up your insurance to see what they cover and how much it would end up costing you at their location and after telling me I have to call my insurance to see what my coverage is (which I have already done, but he wouldnt tell me how much they charged for an exam) I said " okay " and he automatically HUNG UP ON ME!! ~ Did not even give me a chance to ask the other question that I had. I called back and said, sir you just hung up on me and he started arguing with me. I asked for a manager and he claimed to be the owner. HMmMM... if you want good service I would recommend you stay away, because if this is how they are on the phone imagine what they are like in person or if you dont like something they did..

I came to visit Eyeworks as a referral from my new vision insurance customer service rep. Prior I had been going to the same eye doctor for 4 years. The experience was okay. The doctor was nice enough and the staff seemed nice. My problem came when it was time to pay. I had already contacted my insurance company and looked into the price of the contacts I wanted. So when they came with an outlandish amount I immediately started to question things. They tried to get me to buy the biggest box of contacts and it was my first time using this brand/type. When I referenced the price being high the sales person helping me wasnt even aware they came in different sizes. Im okay with the mild lack of knowledge but when it comes to a whole different amount being paid it feels very unprofessional. Then they had research to add the 15% off because they werent aware. Having worn glasses since I was 13 I have definitely had better eye doctor experiences and next year I wont be returning.

Despite checking in online and filling out all for the forms before arriving no one way available to see me until 25 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. At one point there were so many people waiting that there were not even enough chairs available for everyone to sit. Markup is the name of the game with eyeglasses. None of the frames available had any pricing information associated with them. When I went to check out they said the frames would be $350 after a brief check I found them online for $50. Immediately they offered to sell them for $60 instead. And 500%+ markup isnt just a healthy profit margin, it is price gauging. Also its midtown - so if you cant recognize a gay partnership perhaps it would be best to not call my partner "my roommate, my personal shopper, or my friend". Especially not after youve been corrected.
