I would prefer the Newport Petsmart as well. We took our dog once and they were attentive and quick. I used to take my dog in the morning on weekends for a bath--earlier in the year--and if she were stressed over the blowdryer, they would towel dry her. She would be a little damp when I got her but she seemed happy. I have been using the self-service dog wash at Pet Supplies Plus lately but wanted to get the dogs nails ground and thats not a service offered at PSP. So I took her back, figuring that if the morning people paid attention to the response of my dog, that that would be typical. It was not. I arrived around 6:40 for a 7pm appointment and since there were three groomers and only one dog out, they went ahead and took her early and trimmed her nails as I was leaving. I left to browse another store and came back and walked around the store. I finally sat down to wait and could hear my dog barking. After sitting there a while, I went in to ask for my receipt so I could go ahead and pay, and after being told I didnt have to stay at the store, they gave me the receipt and said that she didnt like dryer so they were waiting for her to by dry enough to brush. I said I didnt mind taking home a damp dog and that we dont typically have her dried with any dryer. 20 minutes later, my dog is still barking. So I went back in and told them I was taking her home. They said her nails were not ground and she was not brushed, but I insisted that I had just listed to her bark for 45 minutes and she was coming home. While bringing her out, the girl said she would brush her and that she would grind her nails but at this point, (we had been there an hour and a half) I was too irritated to wait or to let my dog get anymore stressed than she already was. Im not a groomer, but I would think that thats too long to leave a dog in a dryer cage, especially considering my dog was unattended and that she was back there for so long in a situation that was clearly stressful--after especially after I told them that it was okay for her to come home damp if she were upset. If they had been busy, I can see that they would not want to take the time to towel off a dog, but there were three people there, and in an hour and a half, I saw 5 or 6 dogs go through, lots of cell phones and lots of standing around. Safe to say I wont be visiting again. The folks as PSP are nicer, more attentive, and I can clean my dog myself.

Very unprofessional worker there. I will not say the name of the female worker but she claimed to be a leader that worked in the dog grooming area. I told her I did not want to speak to a leader I wanted the store manger. She refused to get her for me said said she would not bother her on her day off. I informed her store managers dont have days off when there is an issue that the "leaders can not or do not have the authority to handle". They have a 24/7 job. I asked her to contact her and have her contact me immediately. She still said no so I asked for the District Manager to be contacted and have him or her contact me and was refused again. She said all I could do is contact a 1800 number and the call would come back to her (the leader). I told her I would contact that number and she replied in a rude way I guess Ill be calling you back this afternoon. My suggestion is dont shop here unless you order it thru the website first. The online order team at the 1800 number is very helpful but some of the staff at this store is very rude. I hope the DM gets my complaint that customer service said would be forwarded directly to him/her and I hope that others read this and do not experience the same negativity I received from this "leader" when shopping there and trying to get a damaged item replaced and a discount on it for my troubles considering I came a good distance just to get the item in the first place, as they would would not do an exchange through the mail.

I would go to the Newport Petsmart if I could. My cat needs groomed so badly, but the Newport Petsmart has no cat groomer. I called a few weekends ago to the Florence Petsmart and ask if they would do walk-in sanitary trimming for my cat. (Because it says they can do just sanitary trimmings online on the weekends!) They said YES, so I dragged my poor cat into her cage (which terrifies her) and drove 15 minutes to this Petsmart. I went in and told them Im here for the sanitary trimming and that I called earlier. They told me to wait outside, so I do. For TWENTY minutes. And that is when someone walks outside to let me know TWENTY MINUTES LATER that they cant do the sanitary trimming because the cat groomer wasnt there. Who waits TWENTY minutes to tell someone that? I was sitting there the entire time. So I still need to get my cat groomed. Of course, this cat groomer that I need is only there THREE days a week from 7am to 1pm that available for cat grooming services. I dont know who can actually make it to her terrible hours unless they take off a day from work or go on their lunch break. But, of course, I cant ever do that because I have classes Monday through Thursday that I have to attend with no break in between. So, thank you Florence Petsmart for your crap services. I wont be going to you anymore.

I had bought two filters and a female betta just a few days ago. Well, today came in to return both the betta and one filter, being as I only needed one, and because the betta was a bit of a bully to my other 8 females. Before talking to the guy working the fish department, I decided to check out the other bettas to see if maybe I wanted to exchange mine or just get the refund. Truth be told, I was absolutely appalled and disgusted by the shape of nearly all of the bettas, a twin/double tail male in particular, on the cart. He is so clamped he looks like he has noodles for fins. I was surprised, they all seemed to be in better condition only days before when I had purchased my female. needless to say, I returned the filter, but kept the betta, for obvious reasons. I was not about to leave her there, Id never forgive myself. This petsmart should seriously be ashamed to have such horrific betta care standards. I understand this is a retail store and there are far more important matters to attend to than fish, but there is honestly no excuse for what I just saw.... especially when you are charging $29.99 for mislabeled betta fish.

We have been shopping at Pet Smart for as long as can remember. So when I needed THEM the most I was let down. Bought a training collar back in Jan. the receiver went out and I had plans on taking my dog camping. I went to the store to get a replacement and was told the store only honored exchanger for 90 days but the warranty was for 1 year and I needed to call the manufacturer. I called them and they said they would send me a new one and didnt know if I would get it in time for my trip. I ask if the small dog receiver would work because the store had 4 on the shelf, and I was told it would but it would be at the stored discretion if the would give me one. Went back in the store and ask the manager and told my situation and basically was told they couldnt help me. So now I am not going back to Pet Smart anymore I will use the local pet store or purchase everything I need on line. Sorry things have to be this way, I should have purchased from my local pet store because they would have given me one to get by with until the other arrived.
