Our familys World of Pets experience: We recently bought a parakeet for our family. It was poor choice to not shop around put this place was convenient and open late. Upon entering the bird room (which was very isolated) there was a wide selection, Parrots to Finches of all breeds. The Parakeets were over crowded about twenty to a small cage not recommended by the staff of World of Pets for one. The Cockatiels about five to a cage with several that didnt look healthy, patches of feathers missing and overweight. The birds were all very upset by our presence. all of the cages were up and hard to look into to check for cleanliness and runny stools(signs of sick birds). The staff seemed very eager to give us info and help us choose the proper equipment. They were well staffed to the point where you turn a corner and are always asked if you need anything.. customer service to the annoying point and as I learned just a poor use of time. In naivety we choose a parakeet from them. The employee reached into the cage and wrangled a parakeet from the flock. He told us he would show us how to clip the wings, as well clip our birds for us now as none of the their parakeets had them clipped. He ruthelessly pinned him to the side of the cage. Dropped the bird once he got him outside the cage, he flew into their glass window of bird room and sliding glass door about ten times before the bird wore out and stunned gave up the fight. The employee showed us where to clip the wings but after a full minute of searching could not find the scissors to do it for us. We left with our bird, a little stunned by the rough treatment but naive to pet store procedure. I wondered if our feathered friend would suffer any damage and the employee assured me he would be fine but gave me a 4 day guarantee! How big of them. I worked very hard to tame this bird who had obviously never been handled, let alone seen very many humans. I knew I couldnt let the bird out or clip the birds wings until i had tamed it. The rough treatment it received by the pet store employee is not my way. It ended up escaping out of the cage during a cleaning and incidentally flew threw the opening door to outside after only of week of living with us. The bird could fly perfect. I am writing this review to let any prospective naive bird owners to be that this is not the way pet stores should house birds or sell them. They should not be stuffed into cages by the packs and they should be kept in a spot were they can see and be seen by humans. Not the top shelf of some back room. There wings should be clipped before the purchase date and they should be handled by store employees not just thrown food and water. With so many employees always on hand they should find time to give their pets the proper treatment. World of pets has the bottom line in mind not the quality or treatment of animals they are selling. They have great variety of birds but not the company policy to ready the birds for domestic household pet life which is the pet store demographic! Be aware that this is not typical pet store procedure. Do your homework and shop around before finding your future family bird. We decided to purchase another parakeet Top score goes to... Planet Pet, 3147 Dixie Highway, Erlanger, KY 41018 please read my full review at Yahoo for an my experience where I was blown away by the employees and there knowledge and true love of pets including the ones they sell! I will never make another purchase from World of Pets.

I havent heard good things about there other pets as one of my friends got her guinea pig here but I came here for a fish so I might be a bit biased as I didnt go searching for any other pets but heres my review- It was so amazing!! I was astounded by all the beautiful and amazing different fish I saw! I had came to get a betta fish and decided to come to this, for the most part, all fish store because I thought they would have a variety of bettas than any other pet store could provide, there bettas were ok honestly but I ended up leaving with a koi fish instead XD His dorsal fin was cracked though but in the week Ive had him hes healed just nicely and is enjoying his tank. If you want a fish but not sure what kind of are dead set come here because you might just end up leaving with something you didnt think you would ever own lol. As a fish store I would probably give it a 4.5 but as a all pet store from the storys maybe a 2.5? Anyway there fish selection is amazing and they sell everything, I do wish though that they had questioned me personally about the set I had and if I had everything I needed and give me some advice and remind me of fish food, luckily I already had fish flakes from my sisters goldfish but it would have been nice to see them make an effort to make sure I had everything, when I got my turtle at a normal pet store the man questioned me on the tank size, lighting, filter, etc.etc. it was annoying but it showed that he only cared about the well being of this pet and wanted to make sure everything would be good. Anyway though fish shopping went great and if you want a fish cone here, if not I think you would be better off going to another pet store from what Ive heard.

I suggest everyone that posted about sexing animals, do their own homework. Before you buy an animal you need to know about the animal. Ive lived all over the midwest and owned multiple varieties of animals and multiple pet stores. You have to do your own homework with animals before you actually get them. This goes to the person who posted about the newt too. Know your fish and know aquatics in general. Nearly every aquatic animal will try to eat anything that will fit in its mouth. I had a goldfish eat a baby mollies. Two of the most non-aggressive fish and the small one got eaten. Honestly, most of these guys have a good knowledge base. Im a weekly regular and they pretty much know what I like and what Im interested in. The best pet retailer has experience. Most of these guys know most of the animals there. I will say that they are great in aquatics. Prices are touch and go, but thats why I know what I use and know all the prices around. They do carry some chemicals, food, and equipment that no one else carries in town. Their selection is second to none. Ive honestly never seen some of the fish in other stores where Ive lived. They have a wonderful fresh and saltwater selection. I want them to open a second location right next to Jacks Aquarium and Pets on Mall Road. Just so Jacks has some competition. I see people going to Jacks and Petsmart just because they dont know about World of Pets. It is quite out of the way for me over on Turfway, but I take the extra 15 minutes to go there for everything.

I love this store! My son lives in Elsmere, KY. I visit this store every time I visit my son and have purchased many fish for him -- and even several to bring home with me (over 2 hour drive to my home in Ohio - all survived - thanks to my battery air pump and small filter). All of the associates know who I am when I come in and offer me excellent service. They have a great selection of fish - ones you dont see at the other stores. They told me if I am interested in any kind of fish, to call a week or two ahead when I am coming and they will locate some for me. That is GREAT service! If fact, I was just looking up their phone number to order some more rainbow fish. I saw some bad reviews.... and thought I could help set things straight. One should never buy a fish unless they do their own research first. What I do, is go into the store/stores, write down the ones that interest me -- then look then up to see if they will do well in my water conditions and with the rest of my fish. Some stores will tell you the maximum size on the labels -- but that can be wrong. If you have the proper water conditions and take good care of your fish, they will often exceed that "maximum" size. Do your own research before you buy. There are so many fish - each with their own "fish-alities" (personalities). The associates at this store know a LOT about the fish they sell, but I dont expect them to know everything about every fish. I cant "speak" for the birds, but I do know they take good care of their fish.
