This is more like a big box store than a local bike shop. It has a lot of very expensive, probably high end bicycles. I think this store is targeted at racers and people who cycle professionally and can throw down a lot of money at once. They do do sponsorships, if youre interested in that kind of thing.
This isnt the sort of place I would recommend for someone. You can get the same kind of service but better at Performance Bikes, or you can go to BGI. Im mostly a commuter, so I like to have a local bike shop near me where I can get parts I need. Usually, shops are a lot more willing to work with me. They typically dont charge full price for parts from their junk drawer. Ive met a lot of bicycle shops who will also sell discounted used parts that they have no use for and are just sitting around. This is not that kind of place.
I scouted this place out right before I went to the thrift shop across the street to pick a bicycle with a friend. I talked to one of the techs, and I wound up buying tires I needed and a few other things for my own bicycle.
It turned out the bicycle that my friend was buying needed a front brake caliper and a brake lever because someone had removed it. Having just visited this shop and spent a bit of money here, I thought there was a chance they had something I could get that they werent going to use. They wound up having a caliper that was pretty pricey for a 80s bicycle, but I thought it was worth not having to run around to find a new one.
It turned out it didnt fit. I understood the tech I spoke to to say that I could return it, but when I went to return it, the guy on the phone said, "No, man, our store is a Pick n Pull. It doesnt matter if our parts fit your bike or not, you cant return them." I tried talk to him about it, but he kept cutting me off, talking over me on the phone, telling me I didnt understand what I was explaining to him. He told me that "nobody takes used parts back," and I told him most places took returns if there was an error and they knew me, then he told me I didnt understand again. He said that I could bring the bike and the part down and "maybe" they could return them. Unfortunately, I took the bait, and drove all the way down from the north side again to this little store.
I walked in with my bike. I dont know why he had me load it up and bring it, because he didnt even glance at it. I explained to him that the part didnt fit and he said, "Yea its not supposed to." Im not sure why they thought their road caliper would fit my road bike when I was buying it but they knew it wouldnt when I was trying to return it. He said he remembered me and said he told me that it wouldnt fit very loudly, possibly for his bosss sake, and when I told him that he wasnt the one who sold me the part and wasnt even there, he said "oh yea thats right" very quietly.
They wound up giving me store credit, which I didnt want. I didnt really want to buy more from this place, but I wound up with a bag full of junk that I wouldnt have bought otherwise instead of the cash I had given them in the first place. The guy just kept telling me, "theres always stuff you want from a bike store." Really, I just wanted my money back. Im not used to wasting it on junk.
I would take your money elsewhere, like the Bicycle Hospital if you need repairs, BGI, or Performance Bicycle. Ive even read about a lot of race oriented stores in Indy that do a much better job than this place.

Gray Goat Sports is by far the most welcoming LBS I have ever been in. The two managers are helpful and reassuring when it comes to the purchases I have made in the shop. The owner is warm and welcoming did not even realize it was him when he first assisted me. The rest of the staff is always inviting and knowledgeable, I have bought two bikes from them and almost all my accessories and components for those bike. They even have a beginners ride to cut your teeth on while getting to the cycling world where experienced cyclist work with you and others to form a solid group ride which is no drop (no drop means that you will never be left behind). This team has taught me the love of cycling and I owe them a great thanks for helping develop a true passion in my adult life outside of the 9-5 grind. Thanks Gray Goat and I will see you all on the Road!!!!

I went in for a bike addition for my 6 month old son. These guys were awesome! Very knowledgeable and super helpful. I ended up buying a bike for myself and they were very set on making sure it was the perfect bike for me. Helped with seat adjustment, making sure I understood gear changes...explained that they would be there in the future with a free first time tune up and free support. Im a dad of 4 and just took my daughters out on a bike ride with my new bike. My bike was everything I hoped it would be and my daughters for once had to catch up to me! This is the only bike shop Ill be using in the future! Great customer service and a definite 5 stars!

I arranged a bike fit with Brian due to his level of knowledge, experience and level of certification. He was very willing to educate me on the process and the why of it. He was timely with his appointments and great with follow up. I had to have a follow up appointment for my new shoes due to my larger than normal womens foot size, 43. Not only did Brian have the 2 closest sizes and their 2 color choices for the shoes, he price matched them. Lastly, he extends follow up on the set up for future tweaking if needed. Additionally, I purchased other bike related items and will continue to shop there despite living in Bloomington.

Have purchased bikes from the Franklin store and have been very pleased with the exceptional staff and the services that are offered. Being new to cycling, they have helped me to make sure Im getting what I need to enjoy the sport. I have attended some of the clinics that are offered and benefitted from the greatly. Ive showed up for some of the group rides and havent felt intimidated by being new to the group. If I have had any questions they have always been answered professionally and knowledgably. This shop is awesome and I would and have recommended it to others.

Promised to match price from a competitor (BGI) so I made the drive down from the north side. I told them that BGI was out of stock and that was why I was calling around to see if anyone else would match the deal. Got there and they were friendly until I went to pay for the bike. They wanted another $50 since I was there now and they saw BGI was out of stock. Luckily I decided to just walk out. Went back up north and stopped by BGI who ended up having the bike in stock and I got it for the advertised price. Thanks for wasting my time.
