I cannot express how wonderful it was to work with this business. I have been there three times within this week alone. The first time to get a feel for the environment and what it is that I wanted. I was in there maybe ten or fifteen minutes before closing, and was approached by a salesman who was ready and willing to answer my questions, help me figure out what I wanted to do, and even build up a rapport with me, the new customer. I was recommended a Trek 7.2 fx wsd, which was not in the correct size needed for my height, ended up riding the 7.3 fx wsd in my size(slight upgrade in model), and fell in love with the 7.3. Upon hearing that closing was very soon, I apologized, and was reassured that the customer is helped until they no longer need help, which was a relief. He ended up offering to check the BGIndy south store to see if they still had the 7.2 in stock and would get back to me the next day. He could tell that I was indecisive about which one I wanted, so he offered to check with the other store and gave me the option to order it from Trek through them if they did not have it in stock. I received a call from him the next day saying they did not have it, but they could order it. At that point, I was very interested in the 7.3 it didnt really matter about the 7.2. I had gone in and he had already pulled the bike from upstairs and I continued to make my purchase of the 7.3. He was so nice and helpful, but I felt a vibe from every salesperson in the store that they genuinely care about helping out the customer as much as possible. As for the third day I had gone back, I had been approached by a different gentleman asking if I needed help with anything, (which I did) and he was more than willing to give me insight to why my seat wasnt comfortable (because I wasnt wearing bike shorts), why backpacks usually arent a good choice for commuters (they call them messenger bags for a reason), and just the answers the questions I had asked. These salespeople dont work on commission and are just interested in giving you the best deal possible. Overall, an outstanding experience.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Things didnt work out with my local bike shop today when I wanted to pick up a CAAD 12. I live in Cincinnati, I called told them what I was looking for, they took my information, and called me back promptly confirming they had what I wanted. So my wife and I drove up to Indy to BGI. When I pulled up I was astonished with the pure size of the building. When we walked in I felt like I walked into Cyclist Heaven. Top Brands, good inventory and ridiculously clean. I was greeted by a very friendly staff, told them who I was, informed them that I called earlier in the day. They had the bike laid out, sat to the side with my name on it. I took it for a test ride and it was love at first ride. I walked back into the store and my wife and I walked around while they were prepping the bike and I couldnt get over the size and quality of the inventory. Much better than anything we have here in Cincinnati. When my bike was ready the tech walked it out to me, explained what he had done to it and what he double checked and tighten and offered a couple friendly words of advice. Checkout was quick and painless. No complaints at all. My only complaint with this establishment is I now have to drive from Cincinnati to Indy to visit them.... awesome store.

I went to BGI for some winter gear and to browse bikes. I was a little nervous going in that they wouldnt take me seriously as a rider and knowing that I wasnt planning on making a bike purchase that day. As soon as I walked in, the sales woman asked if I needed anything and she helped me immediately. She explained the various cold weather gear options and helped me pick out what would work best for me. Then she and I browsed the road bikes and she gave me a lot if information on what I need to know to progress to a road bike. She was very patient and answered all of my questions as well as offering me a lot of extra knowledge. When asking about sizing she said that they work with you to measure you and try out different bikes to ensure that you get the perfect fit. Additionally, when you purchase a bike here you get a free bicycle fit consultation where a pro adjusts the bike for your body. I cant wait for things warm up a bit because I will no doubt be purchasing a bicycle from BGI. They dont just sell you a bicycle. They ensure that the bicycle fits you before you leave.

Stopped in looking for a 20" bike to surprise my son for his 6th birthday. Had done some research online and thought I knew what I wanted at my $300 price point. Preston was extremely helpful showing me the bikes in that category and discussing the features and size differences. Stopped in later that day with my son and Preston very quietly helped me get him on the bike and even a test ride without making it obvious that we were buying a bike. We acted as if we just wanted to know what size a bike a 6 year old needs and kept him distracted talking about Legos and other things he likes. In the end ended up with a Giant bike for him that should fit him for years to come at a $70 savings over the Trek which didnt fit quite as well. Preston made that experience for us and I cant wait to give Trent his new bike.

Hands-down the best bike shop in Indianapolis! Having never owned a nice bicycle before, I was new to what options were available to me. Victor Suarez at BGI not only showed me a few different options that were available, but allowed me to take the bikes out on their test area to see which ones were the most comfortable, etc. He provided me detailed information so that I could make a value-decision on a new bike that best suited my needs. I came home same-day with a brand new road bike and love it! BGI not only has new bikes, but has a ton of accessories for anyones needs, as well as a service facility to keep your bike tuned up well. I highly recommend Victor, and the entire team at BGI for help with your bicycle needs!

Ive been here for a number of reasons, most recently to purchase a new mountain bike. BGI -- both the 82nd St. and Bike Hub YMCA locations -- is a super-friendly shop. Because they move a lot of bikes, chances are that if you have a need for any random part, theyll have it. Some people will say you should support the little guys, and that BGI is too big. I am all about supporting moms & pops. The fun part of being a bike nerd is that visiting every bike shop in town is like digging around in the bins of various record stores. Theyre all unique, and all wonderful. BGI is no "Best Buy." Theyre local guys who have run a very successful business, and you do some bike stuff there.
