Today, Saturday, May 15th I went to the Glendale Sephora to return some items and was very disappointed by the customer service (if you can call it that) I received by an employee. I have never been really impressed with the customer service at the Sephora Glendale to begin with but todays was just really worth writing about! I was being helped by an employee and I handed her a receipt that had different payment methods: Sephora gift card, Debit Card, and Cash (all on the same receipt). I told her that I preferred that the refund be in cash or debit card and while her and I were having this conversation one of the managers just butted in and said "the refund will be returned to you with whatever the computer states we should return it as" and she was really condescending in her tone and mannerism. The employee continued the transaction and before I had to sign I asked the employee for that persons name and she said her name is "Carrie/Kerri the manager" and she turned around when she heard her name then I explained that I had paid by cash and debit and if she could please refund my money in either cash or debit...Oh My! I thought I was talking to satan himself because at this point in time her nose flared and her eyes got huge and she yelled "I CANT OVERRIDE THE SYSTEM, THAT IS WHY I TOLD YOU THAT YOU WERE GOING TO GET IN-STORE CREDIT" I asked her for her name and she handed me a card which I just threw in my bag because at this point I just wanted to get the heck out of there. Keep in mind that the employee had told me her name was Carrie/Kerri, well when I get home I find that the card was for a "Sara Adams" and the address and telephone information on the card was for the store in San Francisco, CA and we were in Glendale, CA! She totally looked at the card before giving it to me, so I cant say that it was a mistake. I had another item to return but this one I had no receipt for and after I asked her for her card (and she obviously heard that the employee helping me gave me her real name) she turns and tells the employee "You can give her cash for that one." ???????? I couldnt believe it. So she refused to give me cash for the item I DID have the receipt for but for the item I didnt have the receipt for she decided to give me cash??? I dont know what her reasons were for doing what she did but Regardless! She should never treat a customer the way she treated me. I have never been impressed with Glendale because all the employees are very snobbish and seem upset when its their turn to help someone, they just seem like they dont want to be there and they do not care about customer service and I can say that the ONLY employee that I have received a smile from at that store and very friendly customer service (he really stood out, I had to ask him his name) is Andres (this was at a different visit, I did not see him there today). I shop at Sephora A LOT! I can label myself an addict. But if Im going to receive awful customer service I will be forced to take my business elsewhere. The Sephora at Cerritos and Hollywood has much friendlier people as employees.

This is a very popular mall. Therefore, parking is a very unpopular subject. The mall itself has gone through extensive renovations, and isnt the dark and outdated mall that youve probably visited in the past. The layout of the mall is retained, but every surface of the mall has either been repaved, re-tiled, repainted, and simply redone in a modern fashion. And it works. I think it has attracted new businesses, new fast food joints, and heck, even a whole new mall (The Americana next door). Due to the sheer amount of people on any given weekend, it can get pretty crowded inside. The flow of foot traffic is somewhat stymied by the old bones of the original mall, and the flow of automobile traffic is just flat out clogged during peak shopping seasons. There are more pros than cons with this mall though, as its still anchored by some big names, its pretty big, and has a few unique things going for it to appeal as a one-stop shop. For one, parking is free (for now). Despite what seems to be a lack of free spaces, Its actually efficient and easily navigable. Second, theres a foot bridge to the Americana. Parking at the Americana is ultimately not free (restaurant validation, but theres no such thing as a free lunch), which fortifies my first point. Lastly, its an actual mall- part of a dying breed of retail shopping places with a roof. You can shop in relative peace and comfort knowing youre not going to be affected by weather going from Macys to the Apple store when its pouring rain or if its 105 degrees outside (latter more plausible, because, California). For developers and consumers alike, outdoor malls are simply the hot ticket right now. Fun Wiki facts: A couple inaugural establishments in the Galleria- the first Disney Store, second Apple store (due to time-zone difference), first Panda Express, and first 3-story Target.

Love Apple Products, hate going into the apple store. Just went in last night to the Glendale store, which takes an hour to get to since there is no Apple Store in Valencia. Took my 8 month pregnant wife and 2 year old daughter. I did not realize that I had to have an appointment to have my iphone looked at. When I explained that it would take a lot of effort to come back the next day at 6pm, their next avail. appt. The employee said "What do you want me to do about it." I asked politely, "Is there a waiting list", He said, "Sir, maybe you cant understand me, I said you need an appointment." This was said very much like he was on some cloud looking down on me. Like he was superior in some way. I told him that I had gone to the Grove before and they let me wait 30 minutes until an appt. was cancelled or someone didn’t show up. He then said "Well go to the Grove then". Hilarious, I laughed at him, because not only did I need my iphone fixed I also was going to buy a 15" Macbook pro. So this to cool for me employee just cost his store 1700 bucks. Needless to say, this is what happens at every Apple store, the employees feel so empowered by their genius title and $12/hr that they can do what they want. What ever happened to customer service? May have to stick with a Dell, they are always helpful.

This is a fairly large indoor mall that was initially built in the mid 70s. It has gone through several make overs since then but the last large make over was back in the late 80searly 90s. While the mall is clean and in good repair, it still has a very late 80s look and feel to it. I always feel as if I have somehow time traveled back to that era everytime I enter this mall. It has 4 large anchor stores but two of those are in danger of being closed (JC Penney & Macys). At this point it is only a matter of time before JC Penneys closes. This mall might survive one of its large anchors closing but two of them will be a disaster. The property owners are very well aware of this and are not going to invest money into upgrading this mall when its due is so uncertain. That uncertainty is also affecting the quality of the smaller businesses that the mall can attract. The end result of all of this is a mall that feels so out of place with a huge cloud of depression hovering over it. If you have ever wondered how the rise of the Internet and Amazon have affected local retail, just pay a visit to this mall. It is almost as if it is a teaching classroom in how the changes in technology have affected or society with this being one of the negative results.
